Đức Giêsu đã đem lại tự do cho những ai, vì sợ chết, đã trải qua suô't cuộc
đời trong tình trạng nô lệ. Thư gửi tín hữu Do Thái mời gọi chúng ta đào sâu
bài học này Vâng, Đức Kitô đã giải thoát chúng ta, nhờ cuộc
thương khó, sự chết và sự s</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; color: black">ố</span><span lang="VI" style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; color: black">ng lại của Người, khi cho chúng ta thành những
người con yêu quí của Thiên Chúa, Cha chúng ta. Nhưng Người cũng cho chúng
ta khả năng thi hành quyền tự do, theo điều phải. Khi tự bỏ mặc mình, chúng
ta bị lôi kéo làm thỏa mãn dục vọng, và như vậy là tự tách ra khỏi điều
tô't. Với ơn Chúa, dưới sự hướng dẫn của Thánh Thần cư ngụ trong chúng ta,
chúng ta có thể làm điều lành và điều khiển cuộc chiến đâu, đế bước theo
Chúa và để trung thành với Người...</span></p>

Thánh Phanxicô đờ Xan luôn gắn bó sâu xa với điều mà thánh nhân gọi là sự tự
do của các con yêu quí của Thiên Chúa. Ngài cho một định nghĩa tuyệt vời, đó
là "một giải ước con tim người Kitô hữu khỏi mọi sự, để vâng theo ý Thiên
Chúa". Tột đỉnh của tự do là hoàn toàn tán thành ý muôn của Thiên Chúa, và
là đón nhận các sự kiện, dù "màu sắc" có trạng thái cảm xúc, thích thú hoặc
khó chịu. Sự tự do thật, là điều kiện của một tình yêu đích thực.</span></p>
