Cầu nguyện là nói lên điều gì đó bằng chính tình yêu.</span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">
<span class="GramE">Cầu nguyện là sự thinh lặng nội tâm, để kết hiệp lòng
mình với Thiên Chúa.</span> <span class="GramE">Đối với thánh Têrêsa, "cầu
nguyện là một cuộc trao đổi thân tình, chính khi cầu nguyện là lúc chúng ta
có thể trò chuyện cách thường xuyên chỉ một mình ta với Thiên Chúa để chúng
ta biết được rằng mình thật sự được yêu mến."</span></span></p>

Trước tiên, cầu nguyện là một sự trao đổi thân tình với Chúa Kitô: "Chúng ta
để Chúa Kitô đến hiện diện trong suy nghĩ của chúng ta, dần dần đốt cháy
chúng ta trong tình yêu dành cho Đấng Chí Thánh, để Chúa đến với ta như một
người bạn đồng hành, để ta có thể nói với Người mọi thứ, gửi gắm cho Người
những nhu cầu của chúng ta, hay than vãn với Người những gánh nặng chúng ta
gặp trong cuộc sống, để lấy lại niềm vui với Người trong sự an ủi, để Người
giữ lấy ta khỏi lãng quên trong sự phồn vinh." <span class="GramE">Và điều
cốt lõi mà thánh Têrêsa muốn nhắn nhủ chúng ta, hãy để cho việc cầu nguyện
biến chúng ta trở thành người bạn đồng hành với Chúa Kitô.</span></span></p>

Vậy chúng ta bắt đầu như thế nào?</span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">
<span class="GramE">Đặt mình trong sự hiện diện với Chúa Kitô.</span>
<span class="GramE">Điều đó đòi hỏi ở chúng ta một nỗ lực rất lớn, vì phải
có sự di chuyển từ cuộc sống hiện tại vào bên trong nội tâm.</span> Vì cuộc
sống hiện tại ảnh hưởng đến ta rất nhiều! Chúa Kitô đang đợi chờ chúng ta từ
sâu trong tâm hồn: "Ngài nói với ta khi tâm hồn ta biết cầu nguyện."</span></p>
