<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><b>Sự hiện hữu sống động của
Đức Kitô</b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Qua Bí tích Thánh Thể, Đức
Kitô đã giải quyết một vấn đề đặt ra, khi Người rời thế gian để về trời:
Người đã để lại cho nhân loại một dấu hiệu rõ rệt về sự hiện hữu muôn đời
của Người ở giữa chúng ta. Tuy nhiên, sự hiện hữu muôn đời này vẫn còn là
một huyền nhiệm. Bằng Bí tích Thánh Thể, Chúa Giêsu tự đưa ra một hình thức
cụ thể, qua một dấu hiệu có thể nhìn thấy được. Thật vậy, sự hiện hữu của
thân thể Người dưới hình bánh rượu trở nên sự hiện hữu muôn đời.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Không nghi ngờ gì, mục đích
đầu tiên của Bí tích Thánh Thể chẳng phải để mang lại sự hiện hữu muôn đời
hay sao. Chúa Giêsu đã muốn thiết lập bàn tiệc Thánh Thể trước khi Người
chịu khổ hình, chịu chết và sống lại nơi mà hy lễ cứu chuộc sẽ được lặp lại.
Bằng cách chọn bánh và rượu, Người đã chỉ rõ mục đích của Người là mang lại
lương thực và thức uống tâm linh cho nhân loại.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Tuy nhiên, qua những lời
Người truyền phép khi dâng bánh rượu, Người đã khẳng định rõ ràng sự thật và
sự hiện hữu của Mình và Máu Người trong bánh và rượu. Người đã không nói một
cách đơn giản: "Hãy cầm lấy và ăn Mình Ta" nhưng lại nói "Đây là Mình Thầy.
Hãy cầm lấy mà ăn", "Đây là Máu Thầy. Hãy cầm lấy mà uống."</p>
