Lời Chúa phán cùng Giona rằng: "Hãy chỗi dậy và đi đến Ninivê, một thành
phố lớn, và rao giảng cho nó điều Ta sẽ nói cho ngươi". Giona chỗi dậy
và đi đến Ninivê<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span class="GramE">theo</span><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>lời
Chúa dạy. Ninivê là một thành phố lớn, rộng bằng ba ngày đàng. Giona
tiến vào thành phố, đi một ngày đàng, rồi rao giảng rằng: "Còn bốn mươi
ngày nữa, Ninivê sẽ bị phá huỷ". Dân thành tin tưởng nơi Chúa; họ công
bố việc ăn chay và mặc áo nhặm, từ người lớn đến trẻ nhỏ.</p>

Vua thành Ninivê nghe điều đó, liền bỏ ngai vàng, cởi áo cẩm bào, mặc áo
nhặm và ngồi trên đống tro. Trong thành Ninivê, người ta rao sắc lệnh
sau đây của nhà vua và các vương hầu: "Người, vật, bò, chiên, không được
nếm, không được ăn uống gì hết; người và vật phải mặc áo nhặm, phải kêu
to lên cùng Chúa và phải cải thiện đời sống, phải bỏ đàng tội lỗi và
những điều bất chính đã phạm.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span class="GramE">Biết
đâu Chúa sẽ đổi ý thứ tha, nguôi giận và chúng ta khỏi chết?"</span><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Chúa
thấy việc họ làm, vì họ bỏ đời sống xấu xa, Chúa đổi ý định phạt họ, và
Người không thực hiện điều đó.</p>

tập lại, Chúa Giêsu phán rằng: "Dòng giống này là dòng giống gian ác.
Chúng đòi điềm lạ, nhưng sẽ không ban cho chúng điềm lạ nào, ngoài điềm
lạ của tiên tri Giona. Vì Giona đã nên điềm lạ cho dân thành Ninivê thế
nào, thì Con Người cũng sẽ là điềm lạ cho dòng giống này như vậy. Ðến
ngày phán xét, nữ hoàng phương nam sẽ đứng lên tố cáo và lên án dòng
giống này, vì bà đã từ tận cùng trái đất mà đến nghe sự khôn ngoan của
Salomon.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span class="GramE">Nhưng
ở đây còn có người hơn Salomon.</span><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Dân
thành Ninivê cũng sẽ đứng lên tố cáo và lên án dòng giống này, vì họ đã
sám hối<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span class="GramE">theo</span><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>lời
Giona giảng, nhưng ở đây còn có người hơn Giona nữa".</p>

cải. Ðức Giêsu cũng đến rao giảng, kêu gọi con người canh tân trở về với
Thiên Chúa. Dân Ninivê đón nhận lời giảng và sám hối, còn dân Do thái
lai chối từ.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span class="GramE">Án</span><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>phạt
dân Do thái sẽ nặng nề và căng thẳng hơn.</p>

Lạy Chúa Giêsu, tiếng kêu gọi "Hãy trở về" luôn vang vọng trong tâm hồn
chúng con qua tiếng lương tâm, qua giới luật, qua biến cố cuộc đời...
Nhưng chúng con vẫn cứng lòng không đón nhận. Lạy Chúa xin biến đổi
chúng con như dân Ninivê, đừng để lời chúc dữ trên dân Do thái thực hiện
trên chúng con. Amen.</td>

cùng tôi vì tôi chính là tình yêu." Cả Mùa Chay huớng đến nhận thức:
Thiên Chúa là tình yêu. Một cách vô tình, chúng ta làm méo mó hình ảnh
của Thiên Chúa khi ta điều chỉnh hình ảnh ấy cho phù hợp với lối sống
của chúng ta, với những yêu thương có giới hạn và đôi khi đầy toan tính
của ta. Mùa Chay hướng chúng ta khám phá ra chiều kích sâu xa của tình
yêu mà Thiên Chúa dành cho thế gian, cho loài người và cho cách riêng
mỗi người chúng ta. Ta tiếp đón Chúa bằng một thái độ thờ ơ, ta đi vào
hành trình yêu thương khởi đầu bằng bốn mươi ngày tìm hiểu nhau như
thế,có phải là kỳ cục quá chăng? Quả thế, để có thể lên đường, tốt hơn
hết là ta phải từ bỏ hết mọi sự phòng thủ, điều đó gọi là có lòng tin.
Ta còn cần phải hiện diện trước mặt Chúa, hoặc ít ra là không bao giờ để
mất liên lạc với Chúa, đó là sự lắng nghe và sự cầu nguyện. Hơn cả, ta
hãy để Chúa dẫn dắt từng ngày một, điều này gọi là phó thác. Tất cả mọi
sự đều sẽ trở nên đơn giản khi tình yêu chan chứa trong tim.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Nào ta hãy tiến bước đến với niềm vui Phục sinh,
nơi đó Thiên Chúa đang đợi chờ chúng ta.</p>
