nói trước mặt Chúa là Thiên Chúa rằng: "Tổ phụ con là Aramêô du mục đã
đi xuống Ai-cập và sống ở đó như ngoại kiều với một ít người; và đã phát

ai tuỳ ý. Vậy nếu ông sấp mình thờ lạy tôi, thì mọi sự ấy sẽ thuộc về

có lời chép rằng: "Chúa sẽ truyền cho Thiên Thần gìn giữ ông!" Và còn
thêm rằng: "Các vị đó sẽ giơ tay nâng đỡ ông khỏi vấp phải đá". Chúa
Giêsu đáp lại: "Có lời chép rằng: Ngươi đừng thử thách Chúa là Thiên
Chúa ngươi!" Sau khi làm đủ cách cám dỗ, ma quỷ rút lui để chờ dịp khác.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Ba lần cám dỗ của Chúa Giêsu có thể khơi gợi lại
kinh nghiệm của dân Do thái đi giữa sa mạc, đồng thời cũng là kinh
nghiệm của mỗi người chúng ta: đã bao giờ bạn cố gắng xin Chúa ban cho
ta điều này điều nọ theo ý muốn của mình chưa? Những "bóng ma" luôn ám
ảnh chúng ta đó, những lời đề nghị mà bản thân chúng ta đã biết quá rõ
đó luôn tìm cách khiến chúng ta bị mất tự do, còn Chúa Giêsu đã làm chủ
và đã chiến thắng chúng.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Rồi đến lượt mình, lúc chúng ta vượt qua những con
đường chông gai trong sa mạc, lúc những thử thách, dưới mọi phương cách,
đến lung lạc chúng ta và khiến ta chìm đắm trong nước mắt, lúc chúng ta
mơ về một thực tại khác với thực tại mà chúng ta đang sống... khi ấy ta
hãy để cho Đức Kitô xâm nhập vào những lời nói và việc làm của mình; hãy
để Người dạy dỗ và xây dựng trong chúng ta sự tự do của con cái Thiên
Chúa. Bấy giờ, cuộc chiến chống lại sự Dữ sẽ trở nên cuộc chiến đấu của
chúng ta; bấy giờ, cuộc chiến thắng sự chết sẽ là chiến thắng của chúng
ta.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Những mảnh đất sa mạc nơi lòng chúng ta sẽ trở nên
miền đất hứa cho Hy vọng. Với những kẻ tin đang bị bóng tối bủa vây,
Chúa trao ban cho ta một ngọn đèn để làm xua tan bóng đêm của sợ hãi:
Lời Chúa dẫn lối cho ta bước theo, là Ánh sáng soi dẫn con đường ta đi.</p>
