<font size="3">Khi ấy, đứng gần thập giá Chúa Giêsu có Mẹ Người, cùng
với chị Mẹ Người là Maria vợ ông Clopas, và Maria Mađalêna. Khi thấy Mẹ
và bên cạnh có môn đệ Người yêu, Chúa Giêsu thưa cùng Mẹ rằng: "Thưa Bà,
này là Con Bà". Rồi Người lại nói với môn đệ: "Này là Mẹ con". Và từ giờ
ấy, môn đệ đã lãnh nhận Bà về nhà mình.</font></p>

Israel phải sụp đổ hay được đứng dậy, và cũng để làm mục tiêu cho người
ta chống đối. Về phần Bà, một lưỡi gươm sẽ đâm thấu tâm hồn Bà, để tâm

Chúa Giêsu đã chịu đau khổ vì chúng ta</span></p>

Nhờ sự hiện diện của Ngài ngay chính trung tâm sự đau khổ, Chúa Giêsu đã
không đến để loại bỏ đau khổ, Ngài đã đến để chịu đau khổ với chúng ta
và vì chúng ta.</span></p>

"Chúa Giêsu không đến để loại bỏ thập giá, nhưng để nằm trên đó", Paul
Claudel đã viết. Và cũng chính ông còn viết về chặng thứ X của Đàng
Thánh Giá. "Ở đây cuộc Khổ nạn chấm dứt, và lòng cảm thương tiếp tục".</span></p>

Và trước hết là lòng thương cảm của Đức Marria, được xác định một cách
quá cảm động trong tượng "pieta": Thân xác Chúa Giêsu được Mẹ ôm trong
lòng. Đức Trinh Nữ không đụng vào Người, Mẹ trong tư thế cầu nguyện, hai
tay chắp lại. Nét nổi bật được đặt trong niềm tin của ngài vào sự cứu
chuộc đã hoàn thành bởi lễ vật hiến tế là con của Mẹ.</span></p>

Nhưng nỗi đau, và sự thương cảm, đã cùng hiện diện, và được chứng minh
qua câu: "Hỡi tất cả những ai qua đây, hãy dừng chân và coi xem có nỗi
đau nào như nỗi đau của Ta không?...".</span></p>

tình yêu mà chúng ta đền tạ với Người, rất khiêm hạ, và với tất cả tấm
lòng.</span></p>
