“Trong tù cha có dâng lễ được không?”, đó là câu hỏi mà bao nhiêu lần
nhiều người đã hỏi tôi. Và thực sự họ có lý, vì Thánh Thể là kinh nguyện
đẹp nhất, là đỉnh cao của cuộc đời Chúa Giêsu. Mỗi khi tôi trả lời “có”,
thì tôi đã biết ngay câu hỏi tiếp sau: “Làm sao cha kiếm ra rượu lễ,
bánh lễ?”</span></p>

Lúc tôi bị bắt, tôi phải đi ngay và đi tay không. Hôm sau tôi được phép
viết về nhà để xin đồ cần dùng nhất như áo quần, kem đánh răng, v.v...
Hàng đầu tiên, tôi viết: “Xin gửi cho tôi ít rượu thuốc trị bịnh đường
ruột”. Bên ngoài, giáo dân hiểu ngay. Hôm sau, ông trưởng ban chấp pháp
cầm đến một ve nhỏ bên ngoài có dán giấy đề chữ “thuốc trị bịnh đường
ruột” và bánh lễ xé nhỏ bỏ trong một cái lọ chống ẩm, ông ta hỏi:</span></p>

Không bao giờ tôi vui bằng hôm đó: từ đấy mỗi ngày với ba giọt rượu và
một giọt nước trong lòng bàn tay, tôi dâng thánh lễ.</span></p>

Tuy nhiên cách dâng lễ mỗi nơi mỗi khác. Dưới hầm tàu thủy chở tôi ra
miền Bắc, ban đêm tôi ngồi giữa mấy bạn tù, bàn thờ là túi cói đựng đồ,
dâng lễ thánh Phanxicô quan thầy của tôi và cho các bạn chịu lễ. Lúc ở
trại Vĩnh Quang tôi phải dâng lễ trong góc cửa ban sáng lúc người ta đi
tắm sau giờ thể dục. Lúc đã quen với thời khóa biểu của trại, tôi dâng
lễ ban đêm, vì chúng tôi được chia thành từng đội 50 người, ngủ chung
trên một láng gỗ, mỗi người được 50 cm, đầu đụng nhau, chân quay ra
ngoài. Chúng tôi đã tự thu xếp để năm anh em Công giáo nằm quanh tôi.
Đến 9 giờ rưỡi đêm, nghe tiếng kẻng là tắt đèn và mọi người phải nằm
trong mùng muỗi cá nhân; tôi ngồi cúi sát xuống để dâng lễ thuộc lòng.
Tôi đưa tay dưới mùng để chuyển Mình Thánh cho anh em chịu lễ. Chúng tôi
nhặt giấy nylon bọc bao thuốc hút để làm những túi nhỏ đựng Mình Thánh.
Như thế Chúa Giêsu luôn ở giữa chúng tôi. Chúng tôi tin một sức mạnh:
Thánh Thể. Thịt Máu Chúa làm cho chúng tôi sống, “Ta đã đến là để chúng
được có sự sống, và có một cách dồi dào” (Ga 10, 10). Như manna nuôi dân
Do Thái đi đường về Đất hứa, Thánh Thể sẽ nuôi con đi cùng đường Hy vọng
(Ga 6, 53).</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 150%; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">

Mỗi tuần,sáng thứ Sáu có một buổi học tập, tất cả 250 anh em phải tham
dự. Đến lúc xả hơi, các bạn Công giáo thừa dịp đó mang các túi nylon
đựng Mình Thánh đến chia cho bốn đội kia, mỗi người thay nhau mang trong
túi áo một ngày.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 150%; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">

cũng biết có Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể đang ở giữa trại tù với họ. Chính Ngài
an ủi, xoa dịu những khổ đau thể xác và tinh thần; chính Ngài thêm can
đảm chịu đựng cho họ. Ban đêm, họ thay phiên nhau làm giờ thánh. Sự hiện
diện thinh lặng của phép Thánh Thể biến đổi họ cách lạ lùng. Nhiều người
Công giáo trở lại sống đạo đức hơn; nhiều anh em không Công giáo, Phật
giáo tìm hiểu Phúc âm và lãnh phép Thánh tẩy trong trại cải tạo, hoặc
sau lúc được tự do. Không có gì cưỡng lại được tình yêu Chúa Giêsu. Đêm
tối của ngục tù trở thành ánh sáng, hạt giống đã đâm chồi dưới đất đang
lúc trời giông tố phong ba. Những ơn trọng này do Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể
chứ không phải do sức loài người.</span></p>

Trong chín năm biệt giam, tôi dâng lễ một mình lúc 3 giờ chiều, giờ Chúa
Giêsu hấp hối trên Thánh giá. Tôi ở một mình nên có thể hát tiếng
Latinh, tiếng Việt, tiếng Pháp... Tôi luôn mang Mình Thánh trong mình
“như Cha ở trong con và con ở trong Cha”.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 150%; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">

là những thánh lễ đẹp nhất của đời tôi. Kinh Lauda Sion, Pange Lingua,
Adoro Te, Te Deum và nhiều kinh Việt ngữ, mặc cho tiếng loa trước cửa từ
5 giờ sáng đến 11 giờ rưỡi đêm. Tôi cảm nghiệm cách đặc biệt một sự bình
an, một niềm vui trong tâm hồn vì Chúa Giêsu, Đức Mẹ và thánh Giuse ở
với tôi. Tôi hát Salve Regina, Salve Mater, Regina Coeli, v.v... hiệp
với toàn thể Hội thánh. Mặc cho Hội thánh bị vu cáo, chống đối, tôi hát
“Này con là đá... Ta hãy nguyện xin cho Đức Giáo Hoàng Gioan Phaolô”...</span></p>

Chúa Giêsu đã nuôi dưỡng dân chúng theo Người trên sa mạc; trong phép
Thánh Thể Chúa Giêsu tiếp tục làm của ăn ban sự sống muôn đời.</span></p>

Mỗi lúc dâng lễ, đọc lời truyền phép, với tất cả tâm hồn, tôi làm lại
lời “giao ước mới, giao ước vĩnh cửu” với Chúa Giêsu. Không phải để sống
an nhàn, nhưng để bắt đầu một cuộc cách mạng, đổi mới nhân loại, được
máu Chúa cứu chuộc, sống xứng đáng phẩm giá con Thiên Chúa, trong văn
hóa của tình thương và sự sống.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 150%; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">

Trong Thánh Thể chúng tôi loan truyền sự chết của Chúa Giêsu và tuyên
xưng sự sống lại của Ngài. Có lúc buồn nản vô cùng, tôi nhìn lên Chúa
Giêsu chịu đóng đinh và bị bỏ rơi trên Thánh giá: Ngài không giảng dạy,
thăm viếng, chữa lành bệnh tật; Ngài hoàn toàn bất động. Đối với con mắt
loài người, cuộc đời Chúa Giêsu là vô ích, là thất bại. Nhưng đối với
đôi mắt Thiên Chúa, chính giây phút ấy lại là giây phút quan trọng nhất
của đời Ngài, vì trên Thánh giá Ngài đã đổ máu mình để cứu chuộc nhân
loại.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 150%; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">

Chúa Giêsu là mẫu gương của tình yêu tuyệt đối với Đức Chúa Cha và các
linh hồn. Ngài đã cho tất cả, yêu thương đến cùng (Ga 13, 1), cho đến
lúc trút hơi thở cuối cùng và nói lên tiếng “hoàn tất” (Ga 19, 30).</span></p>

Khi nhìn thấy đoàn lũ theo Ngài, Ngài nói: “Tôi thương xót dân này” (Mt
15, 32). Ngài đã làm phép lạ cho bánh và cá hóa nhiều để nuôi họ. Đây là
dấu hiệu loan báo phép Thánh Thể mà Ngài sẽ thiết lập về sau.</span></p>

đường về bao nhiêu xóm nhỏ Emmau của thời đại ta, Ngài ở lại với các
bạn. Ngài phải là sức mạnh của các bạn, là trung tâm của các bạn, là hy
vọng trường cửu của các bạn.</span></p>

Chúa chịu mọi người ruồng bỏ</span></p>

cả Chúa Cha: “Lạy Cha, sao Cha bỏ con!”</span></p>

Xin cho chúng con dâng lễ như Chúa.</span></p>

Nếu chúng con không dâng chính mình,</span></p>

Nếu cuộc đời chúng con không chịu đói, chịu khát,</span></p>

chịu đội mão gai, chịu vác thánh giá,</span></p>

chịu đánh đòn, chịu trói, chịu ngã quỵ,</span></p>

chịu đóng đinh, chịu chết, chôn trong mồ người khác;</span></p>

thì con phải xét mình, phải sám hối, hoán cải;</span></p>

phải biến chuyển, lột xác;</span></p>

con chưa tế lễ như Chúa.</span></p>

Nếu con còn lo sợ,</span></p>

con kiếm cách tránh né thân phận Chúa,</span></p>

thì dù con có theo nghi thức nào có long trọng đến đâu</span></p>

con cũng không tế lễ với tâm tình Chúa.</span></p>
