Những trường hợp tương tự như trên đã cho thấy người đam mê cờ
bạc thường có những hành động liên quan đến bạo hành, tinh thần

Như vậy cờ bạc có phải là một căn bệnh, một hội chứng tâm lý bất
ổn, hay chỉ là thói quen tiêu khiển của những người dư tiền,
nhiều của? Một linh mục từng coi sóc một xứ đạo ở gần thủ đô cờ
bạc của nước Mỹ là Las Vegas đã có nhận xét như sau: “Đến Las

Thắng là <b>phép lạ</b>.” Nhận xét không quá hoang tưởng hay
cường điệu, nhưng là một thực tế cho hầu hết những ai đã đến Las

thực tế, đam mê cờ bạc là một hình thức nghiện ngập có thể gây

đến như một hội chứng xung lực-chế ngự (<b>impulse-control
disorder) </b>[2]. Điều này có nghĩa là người cờ bạc luôn luôn
bị thôi thúc và lôi cuốn vào đam mê này như một người nghiện
rượu, nghiện thuốc lá, hoặc nghiện cần sa, ma túy. </span></p>
