Giêsu khi Ngài nói với người Do Thái về ý nghĩa sẵn sàng

Nhưng có lẽ những người nghe Chúa hôm đó họ không hiểu
gì và cũng không mấy quan tâm. Chuyện đại hồng thủy xảy
ra mãi tận thời Noe đâu có ăn nhập gì với cuộc sống và
những nhu cầu hiện tại. Còn việc mấy người trộm lén vào
nhà thì làm sao mà biết trước? Có chăng chỉ là đề phòng
một cách tổng quát. Còn “Con Người” ở đây là ai. Làm sao
biết? Không lẽ cũng là một thứ kẻ trộm?</span></p>

con cái mình về ý nghĩa của một biến cố tâm linh, biến

Mùa Vọng (adventus), phát xuất từ nguyên ngữ Latin có
nghĩa là “đang đến” hoặc “sẽ đến một cách sớm sủa”. Theo
phụng vụ của Giáo Hội, đây là thời gian chuẩn bị, mong
đợi ngày hạ sinh của Đức Giêsu Kitô, tức là ngày lễ
Giáng Sinh. Nó cũng mang ý nghĩa của ngày giáng lâm lần
thứ hai của Ngài, hay còn gọi là ngày tận thế.</span></p>

Thời gian này gồm 40 ngày trước lễ Giáng Sinh. Lịch sử
của Mùa Vọng không được ghi rõ ràng, nhưng Đức Giám Mục
Perpetuus thành Tours (461-490) được cho là người đã
thiết lập việc chay tịnh trước lễ Giáng Sinh bắt đầu vào
ngày 11 tháng Mười Một (ngày lễ thánh Martin), và công
đồng thành Tours (567) cũng đã nhắc đến Mùa Vọng. </span></p>

được thắp lên vào mỗi Chúa Nhật mang một ý nghĩa rất đặc
biệt. Những tư tưởng này đã được đức cố hồng y Bernard
Law, lúc còn là giám mục Giáo Phận Springfield-Cap
Girardeau trong một buổi tĩnh tâm chuẩn bị mừng lễ Giáng

Cây nến thứ nhất, được đốt lên vào Chúa Nhật đầu tiên,
nhắc nhở việc Chúa đến với nhân loại trong Đêm Giáng
Sinh. Đây là lần đến thứ nhất, và đã là một kỷ niệm.
Ngày nay chúng ta mỗi lần đón mừng Giáng Sinh, là nhớ
đến lần xuất hiện của Ngài tại một hang nuôi súc vật ở
đồng quê Belem hơn 2000 năm trước. Đó là ngày giáng trần
của Con Thiên Chúa.</span></p>

Cây thứ hai, đốt lên vào Chúa Nhật thứ hai, nhắc nhở ta
về 4 ngàn năm trong cựu ước, khi đó dân Chúa mong đợi
Đấng Thiên Sai: “Trời cao hãy mưa đấng công chính, ngàn
mây hãy mưa vị cứu tinh” (Isaia 45:8). Nhưng Đấng Cứu
Tinh đây không đến giải thoát dân Do Thái khỏi ách thống
trị người Roma, mà mục đích Ngài đến là để giải thoát
nhân loại khỏi tội lỗi, khỏi làm nô lệ cho ma quỷ. Mong
Chúa đến, chuẩn bị mừng ngày Ngài đến là khao khát niềm
vui giải thoát, khao khát được sự tự do của con cái
Thiên Chúa.</span></p>

Cây thứ ba, đốt lên vào Chúa Nhật thứ ba, Chúa nhật vui
mừng, hoan hỷ (Gaudete). Đây cũng là ý nghĩa của việc
Chúa đến với mỗi chúng ta trong ngày được chịu phép
Thánh Tẩy. Ngày ấy, mỗi người đều được thanh tẩy, được
gột rửa khỏi tội Tổ Tông và mặc áo ân sủng của Thiên
Chúa, được làm con Chúa và thừa hưởng gia tài vĩnh cửu.
Niềm vui của hôm nay không chỉ nói đến phép Rửa, mà còn
nhắc nhở chúng ta những lần Chúa đến đặc biệt với mỗi
người, bao gồm ngày chịu Phép Thêm Sức, xưng tội rước lễ
lần đầu, khấn dòng, chịu chức, thành hôn, và ngày chết
cũng là ngày được sinh ra trong nước trời. Trong những
ngày đặc biệt ấy Chúa đến để ban ơn và thánh hóa mỗi
người tùy theo ơn gọi. Đối với mỗi người và mỗi ơn gọi,
những ngày ấy là những ngày vui mừng, hoan hỷ.</span></p>

Cây thứ tư, được đốt lên vào Chúa Nhật Thứ Tư, Chúa nhật
nhắc nhở chúng ta về ngày Chúa đến với toàn thể nhân
loại, ngày chung thẩm, ngày phán xét chung. Thánh
Mátthêu, khi viết và nhắc đến ngày đặc biệt này cũng đã
ghi lại những hình ảnh rất rõ ràng, thiết thực qua việc
Chúa nói về ngày Noel vào tầu trước đại hồng thủy, hoặc
giây phút người trộm đột nhập vào nhà. Và trong cả hai
trường hợp ấy, Ngài đã thức tỉnh mọi người: “<i>Vậy hãy
tỉnh thức, vì không biết giờ nào Chúa các con sẽ đến</i>.”
(Mt 24: 42) Và: <i>“Vậy các con cũng phải sẵn sàng, vì
lúc các con không ngờ, Con Người sẽ đến.”</i>(44)</span></p>

Theo đức cố Hồng Y, trong ba lần Chúa đến với cuộc đời
mỗi người, thì lần đến lần thứ tư, là ngày mà tất cả
chúng ta phải ra đón Ngài trong cái huy hoàng, bao la
của cả đất trời, và muôn dân thiên hạ. Nếu ngày ấy chúng
ta đã chuẩn bị và đón tiếp Chúa tốt bằng những lần trước
đó, thì ngày tận thế, ngày cánh chung, chúng ta cũng sẽ
cùng với các thiên thần, các thánh, và với Mẹ Maria hân
hoan khải hoàn trong vinh quang Thiên Chúa.</span></p>

thời Noe, cũng như việc phải tỉnh thức canh chừng kẻ
trộm theo tinh thần Mùa Vọng, và trong tâm tình mong chờ
mừng ngày Ngài giáng trần, chúng ta hãy suy niệm và sống
tinh thần Mùa Vọng với mỗi tuần, mỗi ý nghĩa của nó như
lời giảng dạy của Đức cố Hồng Y Bernard Law. Đây là một
cách sống Tin Mừng hết sức quan trọng và thực tế đối với
đời sống đạo của mỗi Kitô hữu chúng ta.</span></td>
