ẩn am để sống cuộc đời biệt lập. Ngаi cảm
thấy Thiкn Chъa mời gọi mмnh sống thвn mật

hầu hết thời giờ để cầu nguyện vа dвng thбnh
lễ. Dщ đг cố gắng sống ẩn mмnh, nhiều người
vẫn tмm đến với thбnh nhвn để xin ngаi cầu
nguyện vа khuyкn bảo.</span></p>

Ngаy 16 thбng 12 năm 1898, đang lъc cử hаnh
thбnh lễ thм Sarbкliф Makhluf đг bị đột quỵ.
Ngаi được đưa về phтng vа khфng thể dвng lễ
được nữa. Sarbкliф Makhluf qua đời tбm ngаy
sau đу, vаo dịp lễ Giбng sinh. Ngаi được
chфn cất tại tu viện thбnh Maron. Ngфi mộ
của ngаi đг trở thаnh địa điểm hаnh hương.
Trong năm 1950, mỗi ngаy cу khoảng 15.000
người đг đến kнnh viếng mộ ngаi. Ngаi 9
thбng 10 năm 1977, Đức Thбnh Cha Phaolф VI
đг phong thбnh cho ngаi.</span></p>
