Cầu Nguyện cho Mối Hiệp Nhất Kitô Giáo</span>. <span
style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">Đề tài năm nay là đề tài về lòng hiếu khách</span>,
một lòng hiếu khách được các cộng đồng Malta và Gozo tỏ hiện, ở đoạn
Sách Tông Vụ nói về lòng hiếu khách của dân cư ở Malta đối với Thánh
Phaolô cũng như đối với phái đoàn của ngài, bị đắm tầu như ngài. Thật ra
tôi đã đề cập đến tình tiết này ở bài giáo lý cách đây 2 tuần.</p>

Bởi thế, <span style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">chúng ta lại bắt đầu từ
trải nghiệm thê thảm của biến nạn đắm tầu</span>. Con tầu mà Thánh
Phaolô đang hải hành bấy giờ gặp nguy khốn, gây ra bởi thiên nhiên. Họ
đã bị trôi dạt trên biển cả 14 ngày, và phái đoàn hải hành này cảm thấy
bị lạc mất định hướng, bởi không thấy mặt trời hay trăng sao gì hết.
Dưới biển thì con tầu bị sóng xô dữ dội, đến nỗi họ cảm thấy con tầu sẽ
bị vỡ ra trước sức tấn công của sóng biển. Bên trên thì gió mưa quật
nhào xuống họ. Cuồng năng của cả biển khơi cùng với bão tố thật là khủng
khiếp mãnh liệt và tỏ ra dưng dưng lãnh đạm đối với số mạng của đoàn
người hải hành, chừng trên 260 người!</p>

Tuy nhiên, Thánh Phaolô, vị biết được số mệnh không xẩy ra như thế, đã
lên tiếng nói. Đức tin bảo cho ngài biết rằng sự sống của ngài ở trong
tay Thiên Chúa, Đấng đã làm cho Chúa Giêsu phục sinh từ trong kẻ chết,
và là Đấng đã kêu gọi ngài là Phaolô mang Phúc Âm đến tận cùng trái đất.
Đức tin cũng cho ngài biết rằng Thiên Chúa, theo những gì Chúa Giêsu đã
tỏ cho ngài, là một Người Cha yêu thương. Bởi thế, Thánh Phaolô đã hướng
tới phái đoàn hải hành của ngài, và được tác động bởi đức tin, ngài đã
loan báo cho họ biết rằng Thiên Chúa sẽ không để cho một sợi tóc nào ở
trên đầu của họ bị mất đi.</p>

Lời tiên báo này đã trở thành hiện thực khi <span
style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">con tầu bị mắc cạn ở duyên hải Malta</span>, và
tất cả mọi người trong phái đoàn đều vào <em>đất liền </em>được<em> </em>an
toàn và lành mạnh. Thế rồi ở đó <span style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">họ
cảm thấy một cái gì đó mới lạ. Ngược lại với biển cả bão tố tàn bạo dữ
dội, họ đã nhận được chứng từ về "tấm lòng tử tế ngoại thường" nơi cư
dân của Hải đảo này.</span> Những con người ấy, xa lạ với họ, đã tỏ ra
quan tâm đến các nhu cầu của họ. Những người cư dân ấy đã đốt lửa lên để
sưởi ấm họ; những cư dân này còn cống hiến cho họ chỗ cư trú tránh mưa
cùng với lương thực để ăn. <span style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">Cho dù
những cư dân này chưa nhận được Tin Mừng của Chúa Kitô, họ cũng đã tỏ ra
tình yêu thương của Thiên Chúa qua các hành động cụ thể tốt lành của họ</span>.
Thật vậy, <span style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">lòng hiếu khách tự phát và
các cử chỉ chăm sóc là những gì truyền đạt một cái gì đó về tình yêu của
Thiên Chúa</span>. Và lòng hiếu khách của cư dân trên hải đảo Malta đã
được bù đắp bằng những phép lạ chữa lành, do Thiên Chúa thực hiện qua
Thánh Phaolô trên Hải đảo này. Bởi thế,<span
style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)"> nếu dân chúng ở Malta là một dấu hiệu Quan
phòng của Thiên Chúa đối với vị Tông Đồ này, thì ngài cũng là chứng nhân
cho tình yêu nhân hậu của Thiên Chúa đối với họ vậy.</span></p>

Anh chị em rất thân mến, <span style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">lòng hiếu
khách là điều quan trọng, và nó cũng là một nhân đức đại kết quan trọng
nữa</span>. Trước hết, đó là nhìn nhận những anh chị em Kitô hữu khác
thực sự là anh chị em của chúng ta trong Chúa Kitô. Chúng ta là anh chị
em của nhau. Người nào đó có thể nói cùng anh chị em rằng: "Thế nhưng họ
là người Tin lành, họ là người Chính Thống giáo...". Đúng thế, nhưng
chúng ta đều là anh chị em trong Chúa Kitô. Đó không phải là một tác
hành quảng đại một chiều, vì khi chúng ta tiếp đãi các Kitô hữu khác, là
chúng ta đón nhận họ như là một tặng vật được trao cho chúng ta. Như cư
dân Malta - những cư dân Malta tốt lành ấy - chúng ta được bù đắp, vì
chúng ta nhận được những gì Thánh Linh đã gieo nơi những người anh chị
em này của chúng ta, và điều ấy đã trở thành một tặng ân cho cả chúng ta
nữa, vì Thánh Linh cũng gieo rắc ân sủng của Ngài ở khắp mọi nơi. <span
style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">Việc đón nhận Kitô hữu thuộc truyền thông khác,
trước hết, nghĩa là chứng tỏ tình yêu của Thiên Chúa đối với họ</span>,
vì đều là con cái của Thiên Chúa - anh chị em của chúng ta -, <span
style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">hơn thế nữa, có nghĩa là lãnh nhận những gì
Thiên Chúa đã làm trong đời sống của họ</span>. <span
style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">Lòng hiếu khách đại kết đòi chúng ta cần phải
biết tỏ ra sẵn sàng lắng nghe người khác, chú trọng tới những diễn tiến
đức tin của riêng họ, cũng như diễn tiến nơi cộng đoàn đức tin của họ
theo một truyền thống khác, khác với truyền thống của chúng ta. Lòng
hiếu khách đại kết bao gồm cả ước vọng muốn có được trải nghiệm mà các
Kitô hữu khác có được về Thiên Chúa, và mong được lãnh nhận các tặng ân
thiêng liêng xuất phát từ đó</span>. Đó là một ân ban; việc khám phá như
thế là một tặng ân. Tôi nghĩ về quá khứ, về quê hương của tôi chẳng hạn.
Khi có một số anh chị em thừa sai Tin Lành xuất hiện, thì một nhóm nhỏ
Công giáo kéo nhau đến đốt lều của họ. Không thể chấp nhận được điều
này; đó không phải là Kitô hữu. Chúng ta là anh chị em, tất cả chúng ta
đều là anh chị em, và chúng ta cần phải tỏ lòng hiếu khách với nhau.</p>

<span style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">Hôm nay đây, vùng biển mà Thánh
Phaolô cùng với phái đoàn hải hành của ngài đã bị đắm tầu lại trở nên
một nơi nguy hiểm cho sự sống của các thành phần hải hành khác.</span> Trên
khắp thế giới, thành phần di dân nam nữ đang phải đương đầu với các cuộc
hành trình liều lĩnh để thoát khỏi bạo lực, thoát khỏi chiến tranh,
thoát khỏi nghèo khổ. Như Thánh Phaolô và phái đoàn hải hành của ngài,
họ cảm thấy tính chất dửng dưng lãnh đạm, lòng hận thù của sa mạc, của
sông ngòi, của biển khơi... Rất nhiều lần họ đã không được phép lên bờ ở
các hải cảng. Thế nhưng, bất hạnh thay, <span
style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">đôi khi họ lại gặp phải chính lòng thù hận còn
tệ hại hơn nữa của con người; những tay tội ác buôn người khai thác họ:
vào hôm nay đây! Có một số nhà cai trị đối xử với họ như là những con số
và như là một mối đe dọa: vào hôm nay đây!</span> Đôi khi thái độ bất
thiện cảm đã loại trừ họ như là một cơn sóng xô họ trở về với những gì
là nghèo khổ hay nguy hiểm mà họ đã muốn thoát ly.</p>

Là Kitô hữu, chúng ta cần phải cùng nhau hoạt động để chứng tỏ cho những
người di dân thấy được tình yêu thương của Thiên Chúa do Chúa Giêsu Kitô
mạc khải cho thấy. Chúng ta có thể và cần phải minh chứng chẳng những
không hận thù và lãnh đạm, mà hết mọi người đều quí báu trước nhan Thiên
Chúa và được Ngài yêu thương. <span style="color: rgb(128, 0, 0)">Những
thứ chia rẽ vẫn còn tồn tại giữa chúng ta là những gì cản trở chúng ta
không thể trở thành một dấu chỉ trọn vẹn về tình yêu thương của Thiên
Chúa. Việc cùng nhau hoạt động để sống lòng hiếu khách đại kết này, nhất
là đối với những ai sống đời dễ bị tổn thương hơn, sẽ làm cho tất cả
Kitô hữu chúng ta - Tin lành, Chính thống, Công giáo, tất cả Kitô hữu -
trở thành những con người tốt đẹp hơn, thành những người môn đệ tốt lành
hơn, và thành một dân Kitô giáo hiệp nhất hơn.</span> Cuối cùng nó sẽ
mang chúng ta đến gần hơn với mối hiệp nhất hơn là những gì Thiên Chúa
mong muốn nơi chúng ta.</p>
