Trước hết clone động vật là gì?</span></p>

Trứng của một vật được lấy đi phần nhân di truyền và thay thế bằng nhân
di truyền của con vật khác mà mình muốn clone. Nhân này có thể từ một tế
bào nào đó ở dưới da, tai của con vật. </span></p>

Một luồng điện nhỏ kích thích để trứng quyện với nhân di truyền rồi phân
sinh làm hai, làm bốn…như các trứng thụ tinh bình thường khác và trở
thành phôi bào.</span></p>

Phôi bào được đặt vào tử cung của bò hoặc heo nào đó để mang thai hộ rồi
đẻ ra con. Thế là ta được một con vật do sinh sản vô tính với các đặc
tính mà mình muốn có. </span></p>

Sinh sản vô tính được thực hiện lần đầu vào năm 1996, khi các khoa học
gia bên Anh tạo ra cừu Dolly. </span></p>

Tháng Giêng năm 2008, Cơ quan Thực-Dược Phẩm Hoa Kỳ tuyên bố là thịt và
sữa từ bò, cừu, heo do clone đều hoàn toàn giống như thịt từ xúc vật
sinh đẻ tự nhiên, bình thường, do đó an toàn cho người tiêu thụ. Đây là
kết quả các nghiên cứu mà cơ quan đã thực hiện từ năm 2001. Cơ quan này
cũng cho biết là nhà sản xuất không cần ghi nguồn gốc thực phẩm là do
sinh sản vô tính trên nhãn hiệu thực phẩm.</span></p>

Tuy nhiên, giới tiêu thụ vẫn còn ngần ngại với lý do là chưa có đủ dữ
kiện khoa học chứng minh thịt do clone an toàn. </span></p>

Ngoài ra, vấn đề đạo đức cũng được nêu ra. Như là khi clone như vậy, con
người đã đóng vai Thượng Đế để tạo ra một sinh vật và xâm phạm vào lãnh
vực ngoài giới hạn của mình.</span></p>

Thịt xúc vật clone chưa được bầy bán vì đúng ra, mục đích của sự clone
không phải để lấy thịt mà là để tạo ra con giống tốt. Con cái của những
con giống tốt này mới là mục tiêu của nhà sản xuất. </span></p>

Vả lại, clone một con vật cũng rất tốn kém: con bò tốn 18.000 mỹ kim,
