tiếng Anh gọi là mental retardation. Bệnh này thường thấy ở khắp nơi
trên thế giới và ảnh hưởng tới 3% các cháu bé dù là trai hoặc gái.
Chậm trí được định nghĩa như bệnh trong đó các cháu kém khả năng suy
nghĩ, lý luận, giải quyết vấn đề cũng như học hỏi và nhớ sự việc.
Nguyên nhân có thể là do di truyền, ảnh hưởng xấu của môi trường. Có
nhiều loại chậm trí tuệ mà sau đây là một: </span></p>
