Tình yêu ! Một từ rất quen thuộc, ai cũng biết nhưng người ta
chưa hiểu hết nội dung phong phú của nó, hoặc hiểu tình yêu một cách
lệch lạc hoặc hiểu một cách phiến diện. Do đó, nhiều khi người ta đã
làm mất ý nghĩa cao qúi của tình yêu, đồng hóa tình yêu với tình
dục. Người ta chỉ biết dùng tình yêu để tìm đến những thú vui hạ đẳng
mà không biết nâng cao tâm hồn lên.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Tình yêu mà phụng vụ đề cập đến hôm nay là một tình yêu hòan
hảo, tinh tuyền, cao thượng, phổ quát và phong phú nhất. Tình yêu trong
phụng vụ chính là Bác ái công giáo (Caritas). Bác ái là yêu thương một
cách rộng rãi như thánh Augustinô đã nói <i>:”Giới hạn của tình yêu là
không</i> <i>có giới hạn nào”.</i> Đó là tình yêu đối với Thiên Chúa và
đối với tha nhân. Hai tình yêu này khác nhau chăng ? Thưa không. Chẳng
những hai tình yêu này không tách rời nhau mà còn quyện lấy nhau : chỉ
là một. Chính tình yêu này giúp chúng ta yêu mến Chúa và phục vụ tha
nhân.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

đem ra thực hành bằng những việc làm cụ thể và coi đó chỉ là tình yêu

Theo Đức Cha Arthur Tonne thì yêu mến Chúa là “<i>ao ước làm
vui lòng Chúa</i>” và yêu tha nhân là “<i>làm điều thiện hảo cho họ</i>”.
Tình yêu đối với Chúa cũng như đối với tha nhân luôn phải kèm theo những
đặc tính là hy sinh, phục vụ và dâng hiến. Bất cứ làm việc gì cũng phải
được thực hiện trong tình yêu thì mới có giá trị :”<i>Ama et fac quod
agis</i>”(Thánh Augustinô) : yêu mến đi rồi làm gì thì làm. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

So sánh Cựu ước và Tân ước, ta thấy Cựu ước còn thô sơ, Tân
ước mới hoàn chỉnh. Chính vì thế mà Chúa Giêsu đã nói <i>:”Ta đến không
phải để hủy bỏ lề luật và các tiên tri, nhưng</i> <i>để kiện toàn</i>”. Chính
vì vậy mà Cựu ước có nhiều điều luật dạy người Do thái phải yêu thương
đồng bào mình. Nhưng tình yêu này có tính cách cục bộ.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

công bình đối với người Do thái với nhau, nhất là đối với những người

Điểm đặc biệt trong bài đọc hôm nay nói đến tình yêu đối với
những người ngoại kiều đang sống trên đất nước mình nữa. Họ là những
người đáng thương thiếu sự nâng đỡ và bảo đảm. Chúa đứng ra bênh vực cho
họ. Nếu họ là nạn nhân của bất công , họ cứ kêu Chúa và Chúa sẽ đến giúp
họ, trừng trị những kẻ nào cư xử xấu đối với họ.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Ngài rao giảng, và đã cố gắng sống Tin mừng ấy trong những hoàn cảnh

Trong bài Tin mừng tuần lễ trước, nhóm biệt phái và Hêrôđê đã
thất bại trong việc gài bẫy Chúa Giêsu về vấn đề nộp thuế cho vua César.
Họ chưa chịu thua, lần này họ cử một tiến sĩ luật để tranh luận với
Chúa Giêsu về vấn đề : <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">điều răn
nào trọng nhất trong sách Luật</b>.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Câu hỏi này không phải là dễ trả lời. Trong sách Luật Do thái
có 613 điều luật, thật là một rừng luật vì còn nhiều điều luật phụ nữa.
Mỗi nhóm thích giữ một điều luật và cho điều luật ấy là quan trọng hơn
cả. Nếu Chúa Giêsu chọn một điều luật nào đó thì sẽ làm phật lòng các
nhóm khác.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Nhưng Chúa Giêsu đã đưa ra một câu trả lời rất xuất sắc làm
cho vị tiến sĩ luật không hỏi gì thêm nữa. Câu trả lời này vừa mới mẻ,
lại vừa rộng rãi :<o:p></o:p></span></p>

- Một là mến Chúa và yêu người rút ra từ các điều luật

- Hai là liên kết hai luật ấy : điều luật đã mến Chúa thì phải

- Ba là có thể tóm gọn hai luật ấy bằng một luật duy nhất là

Như vậy, Yêu thương hay Bác ái là cốt lõi của mọi điều luật và

Sau khi thất bại trong việc gài bẫy Chúa Giêsu trong việc nộp
thuế cho vua César, nhóm biệt phái muốn tấn công Chúa Giêsu bằng một đòn
khác : họ sai một tiến sĩ luật đến hỏi thử Chúa Giêsu :”<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><i>Thưa

Chữ “Lề luật” ở đây có ý chỉ toàn thể lề luật trong Cựu ước.
Câu hỏi này không nhằm một trường hợp đặc biệt nào, nhưng muốn tìm biết
điểm cốt yếu trong lề luật. Luật Do thái gồm 613 điều luật, trong đó có
365 điều luật cấm và 248 điều luật truyền làm. Các điều đó chia làm <i>trọng
luật</i> và <i>khinh luật</i>. Phạm khinh luật thì chịu phạt đền tội,
nhưng phạm trọng luật như giết người, thờ tà thần, gian dâm... thì bị tử
hình.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Sở dĩ đặt câu hỏi này là vì một đàng các phe nhóm không đồng ý
với nhau về điều răn nào là quan trọng nhất, đàng khác họ muốn thử Chúa
Giêsu để gài bẫy Ngài, vì nếu Ngài trả lời điều luật này trọng, điều
luật kia không trọng thì thế nào Ngài cũng bị qui lỗi là về phe nhóm
này, chống nhóm kia, và như vậy Ngài thiên vị và không còn được kính nể
nữa.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Chúa Giêsu đã trả lời một cách rất rõ ràng, rất hợp và xác
đáng :”<i>Ngươi hãy yêu mến Chúa là Thiên Chúa ngươi hết lòng, hết linh
hồn và hết trí khôn ngươi. Đó là giới răn thứ nhất</i> và <i>trọng
nhất”.</i> Câu luật này trích trong sách Đệ nhị luật 6,5 có đổi một
chút, thay vì “hết sức” thì Chúa nói là “hết trí”. Song cốt yếu không có
gì đổi.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Chúa Giêsu còn thêm :”<i>Nhưng điều răn thứ hai cũng giống
điều răn ấy là ngươi hãy yêu</i> <i>thương kẻ khác như chính mình ngươi</i>”. Luật
này trích ở sách Lêvi 19,18. Chúa đem điều luật yêu người này đặt ngang
hàng với điều luật mến Thiên Chúa là một điểm đặc sắc của Chúa, làm cho
đạo của Chúa vô cùng cao qúi và vô cùng hấp dẫn.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Tất cả mọi điểm khác trong luật hoặc các điều luật khác chỉ
là để chú giải cắt nghĩa hai điều luật đó thôi.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><i>Kẻ khác</i></b> hay
cũng gọi là<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><i> tha nhân</i></b>,
theo quan niệm của người Do thái đương thời, thì tha nhân chỉ là những
người đồng chủng, đồng hương, đồng xứ (Lv 19,18). Nhưng ở đây chữ “kẻ
khác” Chúa có ý dạy phải thương yêu mọi người chứ không giới hạn trong
những người đồng hương với nhau (Mt 25,40 ; Lc 5,43), không những thế mà
lại còn phải yêu thương cả địch thù nữa (Mt 5,43). “Như chính mình” :
Chúa Giêsu muốn nhấn mạnh người được yêu đồng hóa với người yêu, vì vậy,
phải yêu thương tha nhân cũng bằng chính tình yêu đối với bản thân mình.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Người ta đã định nghĩa rất nhiều về tình yêu, nhưng chưa có
một câu định nghĩa nào thoả đáng khiến cho mọi người chấp nhận. Ví dụ
Thần học định nghĩa yêu là “diffusivum sui boni” : yêu là thông ban ra
sự tốt lành của mình. Còn rất trừu tượng.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Từ ngữ YÊU ở đây không hẳn là AMOR, một thứ tình yêu còn mang
tinh chất xác thịt mà người Hy lạp gọi là EROS (ái tình), mà đúng ra là
CARITAS (Bác ái hay Đức Mến). Khi nói đến Tình yêu thì Giáo hội Kitô
giáo dùng chữ CARITAS. Từ ngữ Caritas mang một âm thanh vô cùng khả ái
đối với hết mọi người – bất kể sắc tộc, tôn giáo hay chính kiến – mỗi
khi nghe đến, vì nó là biểu tượng cho tình yêu tha nhân phổ quát của
Kitô giáo, một tình yêu bắt nguồn và luôn dựa trên nền tảng tình yêu
Thiên Chúa (x. 1Ga 4,6).<o:p></o:p></span></p>

không tự đắc, không làm điều bất chính, không tìm tư lợi, không nóng
giận, không nuôi hận thù, không mừng khi thấy sự gian ác, tin tưởng tất
cả, chịu đựng tất cả. Đức mến không bao giờ mất được… Hiện nay đức tin,
cậy, mến, cả ba đều tồn tại, nhưng cao trọng hơn cả là đức mến”(1Cr

Chúng ta có thể nhận câu định nghĩa của Đức cha <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">Arthur
Tonne</b> :”Yêu mến Chúa là gì ? Yêu mến Chúa <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><i><u>là
ao ước làm vui lòng Chúa</u></i></b>. Lệnh truyền của Chúa Kitô có thể
đọc là:”Con hãy ao ước làm vui lòng Chúa”. Yêu mến tha nhân có nghĩa
là <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><i><u>ao ước làm điều thiện</u></i></b> <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><i><u>hảo
cho họ</u></i></b>. Chúng ta không thể “làm điều thiện hảo” cho Chúa,
nhưng chúng ta có thể ao ước làm vui lòng Ngài. Chúng ta có thể và phải
làm điều thiện hảo cho tha nhân. Một trong những cách tốt nhất để làm
vui lòng Chúa là làm điều thiện hảo cho tha nhân. Đã có những lần Chúa
Giêsu nói với chúng ta rằng ai yêu mến Chúa thì tuân giữ giới răn của
Ngài. Cách đây vài Chúa nhật, chúng ta đã thấy rằng giới răn của Chúa
là bằng chứng tình yêu của Ngài đối với chúng ta. Tuân giữ điều răn Chúa
là bằng chứng tình yêu của chúng ta đối với Ngài.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Nhà đạo chúng ta sử dụng quen thuộc hai từ “<i>hy tế</i>” và “<i>hy
lễ</i>”. Theo từ nguyên Hán thì HY là con trâu thui và SINH là con lợn
luộc. Thời nhà Thang bên Trung quốc, người ta dùng hai lễ vật này để tế
Trời ban cho mưa thuận gió hòa. Nếu dùng chữ “hy lễ” và “hy tế” thì chỉ
là tế con trâu thui. Nếu dùng từ HY SINH thì có nghĩa là “<i>tế lễ hy
sinh</i>”.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

từ “hy sinh” thì nó gồm cả : chết rong lòng một ít, đau khổ, phục vụ,
dâng hiến...<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Trên đường đời không có con đường nào bằng phẳng cả, nhất là
con đường tình yêu. Tình yêu cũng có thử thách, gian nan, đau khổ. Nói
chung nó đòi phải hy sinh. Mối tương quan sâu xa giữa tình yêu và hy
sinh đau khổ đã là đề tài muôn thuở của thi ca và tiểu thuyết, cũng như
nghệ thuật thứ bảy. Và người ta thường ví tình yêu và đau khổ cũng như
hoa hồng với gai : không thể có hoa hồng mà không có gai. Mối tương
quan có thể nói là “biện chứng” này được diễn tả gọn chỉ trong hai từ
ghép lại thành một, đó là “yêu thương” hay là thương yêu : yêu thương
cùng với đau thương một vần là thế.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Theo Phúc âm chữ “Yêu” liền với chữ “Thập” nhưng vẫn là yêu.
Đó là tình yêu Thập giá. Việc chịu đóng đinh thập giá là DẤU CHỈ gây ấn
tượng sâu sắc về tình yêu vĩ đại Chúa Giêsu dành cho chúng ta. Chúa
Giêsu đã nói <i>:”Không có tình yêu nào cao cả hơn tình yêu của</i> <i>người
hiến mạng sống vì bạn hữu mình”</i> (Ga 15,13). Tôi rất vui mừng vì
Chúa Giêsu đã ban cho chúng ta dấu chỉ vĩ đại ấy, chúng ta cần biết
rằng mình đáng yêu vì nếu chúng ta không thấy mình đáng yêu, chúng ta
không thể yêu mến kẻ khác được. Tại sao chúng ta không thể yêu nếu không
thấy mình đáng yêu ? Lý do đơn giản Tình yêu là một món quà tự
hiến. Và nếu chúng ta không thấy mình là đáng yêu – và vì thế đáng giá
– thì chúng ta sẽ không trao tặng chính mình cho kẻ khác được. Nói tóm
lại, chẳng ai đem cho đồ rác rưởi cho kẻ mình khâm phục sâu xa. Vì thế
điều đầu tiên mà sự đóng đinh thập giá đem lại chính là dấu chỉ tình
yêu mà Chúa Giêsu dành cho chúng ta. Chúng ta đáng giá và đáng yêu mến
đến mức Đức Giêsu tự hiến mạng vì chúng ta.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Cây Thánh giá là biểu tượng của hai mối tình chí thiết : thanh
dọc là bàn tay dâng lên Thiên Chúa, thanh ngang là vòng tay ôm lấy anh
em. Thiên Chúa và anh em chỉ là một mối tình duy nhất đi về hai hướng.
Đây chính là cốt lõi của mạc khải vậy. Người hành khất ngồi bên vệ đường
run lập cập vì lạnh giá, được thánh Martinô thành Tour chia cho một nửa
chiếc áo choàng phủ thân, chính là Ngài :”<i>Ta mình trần, các ngươi đã
cho mặc, Ta đau yếu các ngươi đã đến thăm, Ta bị tù đầy các ngươi đã đến
với Ta... Những gì các ngươi làm cho một trong các anh em bé mọn của Ta,
là các ngươi đã làm cho chính Ta vậy”. (Mt 25,36).</i><o:p></o:p></span></p>

không phải được phục vụ, nhưng để phục vụ và đem</i> giá <i>máu của mình
để cứu chuộc muôn người</i>”. Có rất nhiều gương sáng chói trong công
cuộc phục vụ những người nghèo và nhất là những người bệnh nạn, đau khổ.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

giòi bọ rất hôi thối. Thế mà, Sơ rất nương nhẹ nhặt từng con bọ với vẻ
mặt vui tươi, thanh thản đầy thương mến... Rồi người lạ đến gặp tôi nói
:”Thưa mẹ, khi con đến đây với lòng đầy căm hờn của một người vô tín
ngưỡng. Nhưng bây giờ con ra về với một tâm hồn hoàn toàn đổi mới. Con
bắt đầu tin Chúa, bởi vì con đã chứng kiến tình yêu của Chúa được diễn
tả một cách cụ thể qua hành động và qua cách Sơ ấy đối xử với người hấp
hối bẩn thỉu kia. Bây giờ con tin thật Chúa là tình yêu. Không có tình
yêu Chúa trong tâm hồn, không khi nào có đủ nghị lực để yêu tha nhân

Thật vậy, không mến Chúa, không thể yêu người vô vị lợi được.
Vì thế Chúa Giêsu đã nhấn mạnh cho mọi người nhận biết hai điều răn quan
trọng nhất là “Mến Chúa yêu người”. Chính tình yêu Chúa đã làm cho người
ta bỏ tính vị kỷ mà biết xả kỷ, thay vì chỉ biết lo cho bản thân mình
lại biết mở lòng ra để lo cho người khác.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Chúa Giêsu là kiểu mẫu tuyệt hảo về lòng mến Chúa yêu người.
Ngài để lại chúc thư <i>:”Hãy yêu mến nhau như Thầy yêu mến các con</i>”
(Ga 15,34). Và Ngài đã yêu mến chúng ta đến mức chịu chết vì chúng
ta. Có thực hy sinh cho nhau mới chứng thực là đã yêu nhau thật. Hãy
tập một vài điều trong “Bài ca đức ái” của thánh Phaolô (1Cr 13,4-7) :
khoan dung, nhân hậu, không ghen tuông, không ba hoa, không tự mãn,
không khiếm nhã, không ích kỷ, không cáu kỉnh, không chấp nhất sự dữ,
không mừng trước sự bất công.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

đây là lệnh truyền của Chúa, Ngài nói :”<i>Anh em đừng mắc nợ gì ai,
ngoài món nợ tương thân tương ái, vì ai yêu người thì đã chu toàn lề
luật. Đã yêu thương thì không làm hại người đồng loại ; yêu thương là
chu toàn Lề Luật vậy”(Rm 13,8-10).</i><o:p></o:p></span></p>
