Có câu chuyện ngụ ngôn kể rằng: Một con chồn muốn vào một vườn
nho, nhưng vườn nho lại được rào dậu cẩn thận. Tìm được một chỗ trống,
nó muốn chui vào nhưng không thể được. Nó mới nghĩ ra một cách: nhịn đói
để gầy bớt đi.</span></p>

Sau mấy ngày nhịn ăn, con chồn chui qua lỗ hổng một cách dễ
dàng. Nó vào được trong vườn nho. Sau khi ăn uống no nê, con chồn mới
khám phá rằng nó đã trở nên quá mập để có thể chui qua lỗ hổng trở lại.
Thế là nó phải tuyệt thực một lần nữa.</span></p>

Chúa Giêsu dạy các môn đệ <i>: “Được lời lãi cả thế gian mà
mất linh hồn thì nào có ích lợi gì</i>?”. Xuất thân từ bụi đất, con
người rồi cũng trở về với đất bụi. Chỉ có sự sống vĩnh cửu mới tồn tại
muôn đời.</span></p>

Chúa còn dạy rằng: <i>“Ai muốn cứu mạng sống mình thì sẽ mất,
ai liều mất mạng sống mình vì Thầy thì sẽ tìm được mạng sống ấy”</i>. Ở
đời ai cũng muốn được và sợ mất. Không phải cứ thu vào là được, buông ra
là mất. Trái lại nhiều khi phải chịu mất trước rồi mới được sau. Mất nhỏ
để được lớn. Mất ít để được nhiều. Sống ở đời ai cũng tranh phần được và
không muốn mất. Vấn đề là phải xác định xem đâu là cái được thực sự, lâu
bền, trọn vẹn, đâu là cái được quan trọng nhất, cần thiết nhất. Kitô hữu
là người say mê cái được vĩnh cửu, vì thế họ chấp nhận những mất mát tạm
thời. Họ tin rằng cuối cùng chẳng có gì mất cả. Mọi sự nếu họ mất vì
Thầy Giêsu thì họ sẽ được lại. Mất tạm thời để giữ được mãi mãi. Từ bỏ
chính mình là để tìm lại cái tôi trong suốt hơn, ngời sáng hơn.</span></p>

Chúa cũng quả quyết: <i>“Ai muốn theo Thầy, hãy từ bỏ mình
đi, vác thập giá mà theo”. </i>Muốn làm môn đệ Chúa Giêsu, phải "<i>đi
theo Thầy, phải từ bỏ chính mình, vác thập giá mình mà theo</i>". Theo
Thầy không phải để vinh thân phì gia. Theo Thầy để tìm một lẽ sống cho
cuộc đời, vì Thầy là con đường dẫn về nguồn sống là Chúa Cha. Thầy là sự
thật giải thoát muôn dân. Muốn theo Thầy, không những phải "<i>từ bỏ
chính mình</i>", tức là "<i>tư tưởng của loài người</i>", mà còn phải
mang thân phận như Thầy với thập giá riêng trên vai. Thực tế, theo hay
không theo Thầy, con người vẫn không thoát khỏi khổ giá. Nhưng nếu theo
Thầy, môn đệ sẽ tìm được hướng giải thoát. Muốn theo Thầy "<i>anh em hãy
hiến dâng thân mình làm của lễ sống động, thánh thiện và đẹp lòng Thiên
Chúa</i>" (Rm 12,1).</span></p>

Quy luật của <i>sinh tồn</i>: có nhiều thứ nếu ta không chịu bỏ thì ta
sẽ chết. Chẳng hạn ta có một khúc chân đang bị hoại tử. Nếu không cắt bỏ
nó đi thì chứng hoại tử sẽ lan dần đến toàn cơ thể làm ta phải chết.</span></p>

Quy luật của <i>phát triển</i>: cơ thể ta hằng ngày hằng giờ hằng phút
đều bỏ đi những chất thải, bỏ đi một số tế bào già nua để thu nhận vào
những chất dinh dưỡng, để sinh những tế bào mới. Nhờ đó cơ thể lớn dần
lên. Trong quá trình phát triển, con người phải từng giai đoạn bỏ đi đứa
bé sơ sinh, đứa trẻ con ấu trĩ... có thế mới phát triển dần thành người
lớn.</span></p>

Quy luật của <i>cải thiện</i>: cải thiện là bỏ đi những cái chưa tốt để
lấy vào những cái tốt hơn.</span></p>

Quy luật của <i>tiếp nhận</i>: có bỏ thì mới có nhận. Thí dụ ta có một
cái chai đang đựng nước. Muốn có một lít rượu thì trước hết phải đổ bỏ
một lít nước kia ra khỏi cái chai.</span></p>

Chẳng những phải bỏ bớt, bỏ cái này, bỏ cái kia... mà có khi phải bỏ
hoàn toàn, bỏ tất cả nữa. Chẳng hạn chiếc xe gắn máy của tôi đã hư quá
nặng, nếu tiếp tục sử dụng thì có ngày sẽ gây tai nạn, có sửa bộ phận
này bộ phận khác cũng không bảo đảm an toàn. Vì thế tôi phải bỏ hẳn để
mua một chiếc xe khác. (<i>sợi chỉ đỏ</i>).</span></p>

Làm môn đệ Chúa Giêsu là làm một người khác hẳn, cho nên không lạ gì khi
Người bảo chúng ta phải "<i>từ bỏ mình</i>". Cái phần "mình" được bỏ đi
bao nhiêu thì cái phần "Chúa" được gia tăng bấy nhiêu. "<i>Từ bỏ mình</i>"
hoàn toàn thì sẽ trở thành "<i>Kitô khác</i>" hoàn toàn.</span></p>

Theo Chúa là đi vào con đường sự sống</span></b></p>

Theo Chúa Giêsu là đi vào con đường thánh giá dẫn đến phục sinh.
Con đường từ bỏ là con đường dẫn đến vinh quang. Phải qua sự chết mới
đến sự sống. Phải qua tủi nhục mới đến vinh quang. Phải qua gian khổ mới
đến hạnh phúc. Khi mời gọi <i>“Hãy theo Thầy”,</i> Chúa muốn chúng ta
triển nở đến viên mãn.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: normal; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">

Theo Thầy Giêsu, các môn đệ bị người đời chê là khờ dại vì
sống từ bỏ và vác thập giá hàng ngày. Thế nhưng họ vui mừng sống một
nghịch lý căn bản "<i>mất mạng sống mình vì Thầy</i>". Con người ta cứ
tưởng rằng, chiếm hữu càng nhiều thì càng làm cho mình giàu có thêm.
Thực ra, chẳng có gì quí hơn mạng sống. Nhiều người đánh đổi mạng sống
để có của cải vật chất. Thực tế chưa ai giàu có đến nỗi làm chủ được cả
trần gian. Nhưng "<i>nếu người ta được cả thế giới mà phải thiệt mất
mạng sống, thì nào có lợi gì ? Hoặc người ta sẽ lấy gì mà đổi mạng sống
mình </i>?" (Mt 16,26). Chỉ một cách duy nhất có thể tìm lại được mình
là "<i>mất mạng sống mình vì Thầy</i>" (Mt 16,25). Như thế, phải chăng
Thầy có sức thu hút khiến người ta không thể cưỡng lại được ? Giống như
ngôn sứ Giêrêmia, họ phải thốt lên : "<i>Lạy Ðức Chúa, Ngài đã quyến rũ
con, và con đã để cho Ngài quyến rũ. Ngài mạnh hơn con, và Ngài đã thắng</i>"
(Gr 20,7). Thầy có sức quyến rũ mãnh liệt, vì đã vận dụng được nghịch lý
của cây thập giá để "<i>ngày thứ ba sẽ chỗi dậy</i>" (Mt 16,21) từ cõi
chết. Cả thế giới cũng không đem lại sự sống. Chỉ một mình Thầy mới có
thể làm cho người môn đệ "<i>tìm được mạng sống ấy</i>" (Mt 16,25), vì
Thầy là "<i>sự sống lại và là sự sống</i>" (Ga 11,25). Bởi thế, Thầy có
sức quyến rũ hơn cả vũ trụ vì Thầy là "<i>con đường, là sự thật và là sự
sống</i>" (Ga 14,6).</span></p>

Lời Chúa hôm nay gởi đến cho chúng ta sứ điệp: từ bỏ không
phải để mất mà để được, được lại một cách sung mãn, hoàn hảo và cao cả
phong phú hơn gấp bội. Mất hiện tại để được tương lai. Mất đời này để
được đời sau. Mất phàm tục để được thần thiêng. Mất tạm bợ để được vĩnh
cửu.</span></p>

Thánh Phanxicô Assisi đã cảm nghiệm sâu xa chân lý này nên đã
thốt lên lời ca bất hủ: <i>“Vì chính khi hiến thân là khi được nhận
lãnh. Chính lúc quên mình là lúc gặp lại bản thân. Vì chính khi thứ tha
là khi được tha thứ. Chính lúc chết đi là khi vui sống muôn đời”</i>.</span></p>

Các vị tử đạo là những người say mê sự sống, đến nỗi dám chấp
nhận cái chết. Các ngài coi trọng sự sống vĩnh cửu của mình hơn cả thế
giới phú quý vinh hoa.</span></p>

Chúa đã khiêm tốn và kiên trì nhận lấy những thất bại trong cuộc đời

thách chúng con phải gánh chịu mỗi ngày, thành cơ hội giúp chúng con
thăng tiến và trở nên giống Chúa hơn. </span></i></p>
