Dưới thời Hoàng đế Heralius I, những người Ba Tư theo Hồi Giáo đã
chiếm thành Giêrusalem và cướp lấy Thánh Giá thật Chúa Giesu. Năm
627 Hoàng đế Heralius đã kéo quân sang đánh Ba Tư để lấy lại Thánh
Giá thật của Chúa.</span></p>

Thánh giá Chúa là biểu tượng cho ơn cứu độ của chúng ta, vì trên đó
Chúa Kitô đã chịu treo lên để cứu độ nhân loại. Xin cho mỗi người
chúng ta hết lòng tôn kính Thánh Giá Chúa và cầu xin cho chúng ta
biết sẵn lòng vác Thánh giá của mình theo Chúa để ngày sau chúng ta
cũng được vinh quang với Người.</span></p>

Kính thưa quý ông bà anh chị em, có một người kia tự nhận mình là kẻ
thù không đội trời chung với Đức Giêsu. Ông đã tháo gỡ tất cả mọi
cây thánh giá trong nhà và ngay cả cây thánh giá vợ ông đang đeo
trên cổ ông cũng không tha.</span></p>

Sự căm thù mỗi lúc một sâu sắc hơn, đến nổi ông quyết tâm triệt hạ
hết mọi cây thánh giá trên đường ông đi. Sau cùng, ông đã leo lên
tháp nhà thờ để đốn ngã cây thánh giá cuối cùng.</span></p>

Một buổi chiều nọ trên đường về nhà, ông bỗng nghe tiếng chim hót kỳ
lạ, nhìn lên cành cây nơi con chim đang hót, ông ta quá phẫn nộ khi
thấy cành cây cũng có hình thánh giá. Đảo mắt nhìn vào khu vườn ông
thấy toàn là cây thánh giá. Về đến nhà ông ta như điên dại khi nhìn
quanh quẩn đâu đâu cũng thấy thánh giá. Thánh giá như ám ảnh vào
trong tâm trí ông, quá tức giận ông đã nổi lửa đốt cháy căn nhà.
Trong đống tro tàn người ta tìm thấy xác của ông. Đó là số phận của
con người luôn nung nấu sự hận thù.</span></p>

Kính thưa cộng đoàn, đối với người Do Thái – ngày xưa cũng như ngày
nay – thập giá là một dụng cụ để hành hình, đó là biểu tượng của
cuộc tử hình nhục nhã cho tội nhân, chứ không phải khí cụ để giải
phóng, để cứu rỗi. Thập giá chính là hai thanh gỗ biểu tượng cho
thất bại ê chề, chứ không phải là dấu chỉ của vinh quang. Thập giá
là biểu hiện sự chết chóc, tan nát, chứ không phải là sự cứu độ,
giải thoát con người. Thế nhưng, đối với Kitô hữu: hình ảnh thập giá
là dấu chỉ ơn cứu độ của Ngôi Hai Thiên Chúa.</span></p>

Hôm nay, Giáo hội mừng lễ suy tôn Thánh giá Chúa, chúng ta cùng nhau
tìm hiểu về tình thương của Chúa qua mầu nhiệm Thập giá.</span></p>

Chúa Giêsu nói cùng ông Nicôđêmô: “như ông Mô sê đã giương cao con
rắn trong sa mạc, Con Người cũng sẽ phải được giương cao như vậy, để
phàm ai tin vào Người thì có sự sống đời đời”. ( Ga 3, 14 – 15 ).</span></p>

Tại một số quốc gia trên thế giới, vẫn áp dụng hình phạt tử hình cho
mộ số trọng tội. chẳng hạn như nước Anh: treo cổ; nước Mỹ: ghế điện;
một số nước khác thì chém đầu... Tại nước Do Thái thời xưa, khi bị
Rôma đô hộ thì hình phạt chém đầu chỉ dành cho công dân Rôma, còn
đối với người Do Thái, hình phạt tử hình là đóng đinh vao thập giá.</span></p>

Người Do Thái có lý khi coi đây là hình phạt man rợ, đau đớn và sỉ
nhục. Nhưng chính “hình phạt đóng đinh vào thập giá” nầy, Đức Giêsu
Kitô – con Thiên Chúa – đã chấp nhận để cứu chuộc nhân loại, để tất
cả những ai tin Ngài sẽ được sống đời đời.</span></p>

Chúng ta có thể tự hỏi: “ Động lực nào đã khiến Chúa Giêsu chấp nhận
khổ hình nhục nhã: Chết trên thập giá? Câu trả lời ngắn gọn chính là
vì “thập giá là biểu tượng của tình yêu” chính tình yêu đối với
Thiên Chúa và yêu thương nhân loại đã là động lực khiến Đức Giêsu
chấp nhận khổ hình thập giá.</span></p>

Ngoài ra, đoạn Tin mừng hôm nay còn ghi một động lực khác, chính
hành vi sẵn sàng vâng phục, chấp nhận cái chết trên thập giá Chúa
Giêsu như tột đỉnh, đó là phương thế của Thiên Chúa Cha đã dùng để
bày tỏ tình yêu: Thiên Chúa đã cho Con Một Ngài chịu chết, để nhân
loại khỏi phải chết đời đời, như Thánh Gioan diễn tả. Vì Thiên Chúa
sai con mình xuống thế gian không phải để luận phạt, nhưng để thế
gian nhờ con của Ngài mà được cứu độ. ( Ga 3, 17).</span></p>

Do đó, thập giá đối với niềm tin Kitô giáo đồng nghĩa với tình yêu.
Và chính tình yêu của Thiên Chúa Cha và của Chúa Giêsu đã nói lên ý
nghĩa của cây thập giá.</span></p>

Vì thế, đối với các tín hữu Ki tô thập giá là khí cụ để giải phóng,
để cứu rỗi, chứ không phải là dụng cụ để hành khổ. Thập giá là dấu
chỉ của Vinh Quang, chứ không phải là thanh gỗ tượng trưng cho sự
nhục nhã.</span></p>

1/ Chấp nhận thập giá trong cuộc sống, đó là chấp nhận anh chị em
xung quanh con, bỏ hận thù ra khỏi tâm hồn, chấp nhận cuộc chiến
thắng chống lại bạo động, chống lại sự chia rẽ, chống lại tội lỗi,
và đó là chống lại mọi mầm mống của sự chết chóc.</span></em></span></p>

2/ Chấp nhận thập giá của Đức Kitô, là chấp nhận tình thương, chấp
nhận ánh sáng trong tăm tối, chấp nhận tha thứ khi gặp hận thù, chấp
nhận hy vọng khi gặp thất bại khổ đau. Và khi đón nhận thập giá của
đau khổ, của mất mát, của vất vả... đó là chúng ta hy vọng thấy được
sự vinh quang mà khi ta vác thập giá mình đi với Chúa: sự vinh quang
vĩnh cửu.</span></em></span></p>

<em style="box-sizing: border-box">Lạy Chúa Giêsu Kitô, Chúa đã dùng
cây thập giá để cứu độ nhân loại, xin chiếu dọi vào chúng con ánh
sáng, để từ những khó khăn và đau khổ trong cuộc sống, chúng con
nhận ra niềm hy vọng vĩnh hằng. Xin cho chúng con đừng có tham vọng
từ bỏ thập giá bổn phận của chính mình, nhưng xin Chúa thêm sức mạnh
để chúng con có thể vác Thập giá của mình theo chân Chúa để chúng
con cũng được vinh quang với Chúa trong ngày sau hết. Amen</em>.</span></p>
