Một trong những bức tranh nổi tiếng nhất của danh hoạ Rembrandt, người
Hoà Lan, sống vào thế kỷ XVII đó là bức tranh “Ba thập giá.” Nhìn vào
tác phẩm, ai cũng bị thu hút ngay vào trung tâm: giữa thập giá của hai
người bất lương, thập giá của Chúa Giêsu trổi lên một cách ngạo nghễ.
Dưới chân thập giá là cả một đám đông mà gương mặt nào cũng biểu lộ hận
thù oán ghét. Tác giả như muốn nói rằng không trừ một người nào mà không
dính líu vào việc đóng đinh Chúa Giêsu.</p>

Nhìn kỹ vào đám đông, người ta thấy có một gương mặt gần như mất hút
trong bóng tối, nhưng một vài nét cũng đủ để cho các nhà chuyên môn đoán
rằng đó chính là khuôn mặt của danh hoạ Rembrandt.</p>

Tại sao giữa đám đông của những kẻ đang đằng đằng sát khí khi tham dự
vào cuộc thảm sát Chúa Giêsu, Rembrandt lại chen vào khuôn mặt của mình?
Câu trả lời duy nhất mà người ta có thể đưa ra để giải thích về sự hiện
diện của tác giả giữa đám người lý hình: đó là ý thức tội lỗi của chính
ông.</p>

Rembrandt muốn thú nhận rằng chính tội lỗi của ông đã đóng góp vào việc
treo Chúa Giêsu lên thập giá. Và qua sự có mặt của ông, tác giả cũng
muốn nói với mỗi người chiêm ngắm bức tranh rằng, họ cũng dự phần vào
việc đóng đinh Chúa Giêsu.</p>

Thiên Chúa yêu thế gian đến nỗi ban Con Một:</p>

Loài người càng tội lỗi Chúa càng yêu thương, yêu thương đến nỗi trao
ban hết những gì thuộc về mình là Người Con duy nhất. Tình thương ấy
được cụ thể hóa bằng việc Chúa Giêsu đã chịu treo trên thập giá. Trên
thập giá Chúa đã giải nghĩa yêu thương. Một tình yêu quá cao vời vượt
quá sức mường tượng của con người. Thế nên chỉ có hành động, những hy
sinh cụ thể mới cảm hóa được lòng người hầu mong cứu họ thoát khỏi cảnh
tội lỗi. Chính vì thế, thập giá đã trở thành Thánh Giá; Thánh Giá trở
thành biểu tượng tình yêu cứu độ, biểu tượng của sự sống, của vinh
quang. Vì thập giá được đón nhận trong tình yêu thì thập giá sẽ trở
thành Thánh Giá.</p>

Mừng lễ Suy Tôn Thánh Giá là dịp nhắc nhớ mỗi chúng ta hãy tạ ơn tình
Chúa cao vời. Đồng thời nhắc chúng ta cũng biết sống hy sinh cho tha
nhân, hy sinh vì những lý tưởng cao đẹp, hy sinh chịu thiệt thân để bảo
vệ đức tin. Và nhất là hãy biết yêu người như Chúa yêu ta.</p>

Lạy Chúa, xưa Chúa đã dùng thập giá để cứu chuộc chúng con. Chúa cũng có
thể cứu chúng con bằng những phương thế khác. Nhưng Chúa đã không chọn
cách nào khác ngoài việc chết trên thập giá. Và như thế chúng con mới
hiểu được Chúa yêu chúng con đến cùng. Chúa đã mang lại cho thập giá một
ý nghĩa mới: ý nghĩa của tình yêu trọn hảo. Xin Chúa giúp mỗi người
chúng con cũng biết đón nhận thập giá của bản thân với tron vẹn tâm tình
yêu thương: Yêu Chúa và yêu mọi người, để tình Chúa luôn mãi ở trong
