Thập giá tới độ thấp nhất trong âm điệu của bài ca trong thơ gởi giáo
đoàn Philíphê. Âm điệu của Con Thiên Chúa đời đời tự hạ mình xuống làm
người, rồi lại tiến hành được tôn vinh trở về với vinh quang Thiên Chúa.
Trung tâm thập giá là phụng vụ, khổ hình là dụng cụ tối cao đem ơn cứu
chuộc đến cho loài người. Thập gía mang nặng ý nghĩa sự dữ cùng cực của
chúng ta và vì Đức Giêsu đã chịu treo vào nó là dấu chỉ ơn cứu độ chúng
ta.</p>

Tôn vinh</p>

Thánh Gioan dùng hình ảnh con rắn đồng Môsê treo lên, những ai bị rắn
độc cắn nhìn lên rắn đồng sẽ được chữa khỏi. Đức Kitô bị treo lên thánh
giá đem lại ơn cứu độ cho những người nhìn lên Người với lòng cậy trông,
sẽ nhận biết Người là con Thiên Chúa. Người trộm lành, môn đệ Gioan,
viên sĩ quan Rôma, ông biệt phái Nicôđêmô, ông Giuse Arimathia, nghị
viện hội đồng, đây là những vị được vây quanh Thánh Giá Đức Giêsu, mọi
sự đã lìa những vị này, chỉ có một người liên kết với các vị ấy là Đức
Giêsu trên thập giá.</p>

Chúng ta sẽ không bao giờ hiểu hết những mầu nhiệm của Thiên Chúa: Đức
Giêsu là Người tôi tớ đã chiếu tỏa vinh quang Thiên Chúa. Vinh quang
xuất hiện từ thập giá, một nghịch lý của mặc khải Kitô giáo tại thế này.
Thiên Chúa đã hạ mình thấp hèn trong Đức Giêsu, để mặc khải những sự lạ
lùng hơn tất cả mọi quyền năng của thế gian này và nhờ thế đã giải thoát
chúng ta khỏi thế gian này.</p>

Trong khi nhìn lên thánh giá, chúng ta cảm tạ Chúa Cha, Ngài đã ban Con
Ngài cho chúng ta, và chúng ta nhận ra ý nghĩa đời sống của chúng ta:</p>

Mỗi lần chúng ta cầu nguyện, chúng ta biết đặt mình trước mặt Đức Kitô
trên thánh giá. Chúng ta muốn chiêm ngắm Chúa, thì hãy nhìn lên thánh
giá, Ngài sẽ hiện ra cho chúng ta nhìn ngắm, nhờ cái nhìn này chúng ta
được cứu độ.</p>
