Vào ngày 13.05.1981, cả thế giới đều sửng sốt kinh hoàng trước cái tin Đức
Giáo Hoàng Gioan Phaolô II bị ám sát tại chính công trường thánh Phêrô. A-li
Ac-ca (Ali Agca), một thanh niên Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ thủ phạm bắn ngài, ngay lúc đó
đã bị bắt giam. Về phần Đức Giáo Hoàng, sau một thời gian chữa trị đã bình
phục và việc đầu tiên Ngài làm là đến nhà tù thăm A-li, nói chuyện lâu giờ
với anh ta và sẵn sàng tha thứ tội ám sát ngài của anh ta. Chính tình yêu
mến Đức Giêsu đã thúc đẩy vị đại diện của Người dưới trần gian, có lòng bác
ái vô biên, là tha thứ cho kẻ giết hại mình, giống như Thầy chí thánh cũng
đã từng cầu xin Chúa Cha tha tội cho những kẻ thù ghét giết hại mình: “Lạy
Cha, xin tha cho họ, vì họ không biết việc họ làm”.</span></p>

Người xưa có câu: “Ác gỉa ác báo”; “Gieo gió gặt bão”; Làm điều ác thì sẽ
gặp điều ác. Lấy oán báo oán chỉ tăng thêm hận thù mà thôi. Chỉ có ánh sáng
mới xóa tan bóng tối. Chỉ có tình thương mới dập tắt được hận thù. Nếu chúng
ta không sống theo lời dạy của Chúa Giêsu để tha thứ cho tha nhân những sự
xúc phạm của họ đối với mình thì phản ứng dây chuyền của sự ác là hận thù sẽ
tăng thêm, bạo lực sẽ kéo theo bạo lực, và tất cả chúng ta sẽ rơi vào hố sâu
diệt vong.</span></p>

Một nhà tâm lý đã nói rằng: “Nếu anh nuôi lòng thù hận muốn giết kẻ thù đã
làm hại anh, thì anh hãy sắm sẵn hai chiếc quan tài: Một chiếc để dành cho
kẻ thù sẽ bị anh giết chết, còn chiếc thứ hai sẽ dành cho chính anh. Vì anh
cũng sẽ bị chết dần chết mòn do lòng thù hận gây ra”. Thực vậy, hận thù gây
tác hại cho chính người thù ghét kẻ khác. Nó làm tổn thương tinh thần của
người nuôi sự oán thù trong lòng. Nó hủy diệt nhân cách của họ. Ba-con nói:
“Khi trả thù, người ta biến mình ngang hàng với kẻ thù. Còn khi tha thứ thì
người ta vượt cao hơn hẳn kẻ thù”.</span></p>

Các chuyên gia tâm lý ngày nay đều công nhận rằng: “Hận thù thì hủy diệt,
còn yêu thương thì phát triển nhân cách một cách lạ lùng và hữu hiệu”. Tình
yêu có phép mầu sẽ biến thù thành bạn. Ap-ram Lanh-côn (Abraham Lincon) nói:
“Biến thù thành bạn, tức là ta đã tiêu diệt kẻ thù rồi vậy!”. Chính Chúa
Giêsu trong Tin Mừng hôm nay đã dạy chúng ta: “Anh em hãy yêu kẻ thù…Hãy tha
thứ thì sẽ được thứ tha. Hãy cho đi thì sẽ được cho lại!”.</span></p>

21. Yêu như Chúa yêu</span></strong></p>

Chúa yêu quá sức mình. Yêu để rồi, không còn kể gì đến bản thân mình nữa.
Yêu đến nỗi tha thứ quá dễ dàng.</span></p>

Chẳng hạn, trong giờ xử án Chúa Giêsu, thánh Phêrô đã chối Chúa ba lần,
nhưng tìm trong Tin Mừng, chẳng thấy có lời nào Chúa trách móc thánh Phêrô
về tội chối Thầy. Nếu là tôi, không chừng tôi sẽ ghi lòng, sẽ nhớ mãi khuôn
mặt kẻ bội phản và không dễ tha thứ. Hoặc có thể tôi sẽ tức tối, đau buồn vì
người môn đệ của mình từ chối mình.Nhưng Chúa Giêsu thì không. Chẳng những
Chúa không tức tối, không vạch mặt kẻ phản bội, mà sau khi sống lại, Chúa
còn công khai ban quyền cho thánh Phêrô coi sóc Hội Thánh. Chúa lặp đi, lặp
lại đến ba lần: “Ngươi hãy chăn dắt đàn chiên của ta”. Chúa yêu quá sức, yêu
đến nỗi bất chấp tội của thánh Phêrô.</span></p>

Khi hấp hối trên thánh giá, người trộm cùng bị đóng đinh bên phải Chúa Giêsu
có cả một quá khứ tội lỗi đến nỗi người ta phải giết đi, vậy mà chỉ cần một
lời nói thôi: “Thưa Thầy, Khi Thầy về nước của Thầy, thì cho tôi theo với”,
ngay tức khắc, quá khứ đen tối của anh được lấp hết. Chúa trả lời dứt khoát:
“Ngay hôm nay, anh ở trên thiên đàng với Ta”. Chúa yêu, yêu quá sức lẽ mình.
Yêu đến mức, chỉ trong nháy mắt, mọi khuyết điểm, Chúa đều phủ lấp hết,
quyên hết, tha thứ hết.</span></p>

Kinh nghiệm cho thấy: tha thứ là một việc làm khó. Nhưng khó không có nghĩa
là không thể làm được, chỉ sợ lòng ta cố chấp, tự ái, kiêu căng và nuôi mãi
hận thù. Ước gì mỗi chúng ta luôn ý thức lời Chúa dạy, luôn biết để cho Lời
của Người trở thành mọi phản ứng, mọi suy nghĩ và hành động của bản thân
mình, để chính Lời Chúa làm sức mạnh, giúp ta xóa bỏ thù hận, xóa bỏ mọi
ngăn cách, để tha thứ và để sống yêu thương.</span></p>

Như thế kẻ thù tôi chẳng đâu xa, ngày ngày tôi vẫn gặp. Họ là những người
hay làm phiền và lợi dụng tôi, là những kẻ xúc phạm đến danh dự và quyền lợi
của tôi. Họ là những người tự nhiên tôi không ưa, hay không ưa tôi.</span></p>

Đức Giêsu không đòi tôi yêu kẻ thù như yêu người thân: về mặt tình cảm,
chuyện đó khó thực hiện. Nhưng Ngài mời tôi yêu bằng hành động.</span></p>
