giới còn nhiều sự dữ và nhiều người xấu, người sống công chính có thể
chịu nhiều thiệt thòi vì bị người khác dèm pha, đố kỵ, hãm hại… Tuy
nhiên, những khổ đau mà người công chính phải chịu lại sinh nhiều ơn ích
cho chính những kẻ làm hại mình.</font></span></p>

Giêsu mặc khải cho các môn đệ biết Ngài là ai : Ngài là Đấng Messia đến
cứu thoát loài người, nhưng cứu thoát qua con đường chịu nạn, chịu chết

với quan niệm về một Đấng Messia vinh quang hiển hách, các môn đệ không
hiểu gì cả. Nhưng không dám hỏi lại Đức Giêsu. Và cũng vì đã quen với
quan niệm thế tục ấy nên dọc đường các ông tranh luận xem ai sẽ là người
lớn nhất trong Nước Trời mà Đức Giêsu thành lập.</font></span></p>

sửa dạy các ông : trong Nước Trời, đừng ai để ý tới địa vị lớn hoặc nhỏ.
Điều thứ nhất phải để ý là phục vụ : càng có chức vụ cao thì càng phải
phục vụ nhiều (để nhấn mạnh ý tưởng phục vụ, Đức Giêsu dùng hình ảnh
người đầy tớ). Điều thứ hai phải để ý nữa là có thái độ tiếp đón mọi
người không phân biệt gì cả, dù là một người hèn hạ, vô ích thì người
môn đệ Chúa cũng phải tiếp đón (để nhấn mạnh ý tưởng tiếp đón, Đức Giêsu
dùng hình ảnh trẻ nhỏ, tức là một con người không mang lại lợi ích gì
cho kẻ tiếp đón nó, mà còn mang tới phiền muộn).</font></span></p>

một nhà văn do thái từng đoạt giải Nobel, kể câu chuyện sau đây :</font></span></p>

bị quốc xã Đức bắt giam trong trại tập trung Auschwitz. Đây là một trại
giam nổi tiếng là tàn bạo. Thỉnh thoảng bọn cai ngục bắt một số người
đưa vào phòng hơi ngạt cho họ bị chết một cái chết rất khủng khiếp. Một
hôm, có một đám trẻ do thái được chọn để hôm sau được đưa vào phòng hơi
ngạt ấy. Nhìn thấy đám trẻ ngày mai phải chết, Elia Wiesel động lòng
thương nên xin bọn cai tù cho phép ông được ở chung với bọn trẻ ấy một
đêm. Thật là ngạc nhiên, bọn cai tù đồng ý ngay. Đêm đó Elia Wiesel kể
cho đám trẻ hết chuyện này đến chuyện khác, mong làm chúng được vui.
Nhưng kết quả trái ngược hẳn, ông không làm chúng vui được mà chỉ làm
cho chúng khóc, và chính ông cũng phải khóc theo. Sáng hôm sau, ông buồn
bã tiễn chân đám trẻ vào phòng hơi ngạt rồi trở về phòng giam của mình,
mặt mày tiu nghỉu. Bọn cai tù thấy thế thì cười ngặt nghẽo. Thật là vô
tình và cũng thật tàn nhẫn.</font></span></p>

trên chứa đựng những ý tưởng chính của Lời Chúa hôm nay. Qua chuyện ấy,
chúng ta thấy sự trơ tráo của những kẻ làm điều ác, người vô tội bị bách
hại và chiến thắng của sự dữ (bài đọc I) ; chúng ta cũng thấy một tấm
gương phục vụ những người bé mọn mà Đức Giêsu đề cao trong bài Tin Mừng.</font></span></p>

cảnh càng tối tăm bi thảm thì hành động phục vụ những kẻ bé mọn càng
chói sáng rực rỡ. Trong trại tù Auschwitz, tất cả những gì tốt lành và
tử tế đều bị chà đạp, còn những gì là ích kỷ, tự tư tự lợi thì lại được
coi là khôn ngoan. Lòng thương xót thì hiếm hoi như một cánh hoa giữa
mùa đông giá lạnh.</font></span></p>

đoạn Tin Mừng này rõ hơn, chúng ta cần xác định thời điểm của nó : Khi
ấy, Đức Giêsu đã rao giảng được khoảng 3 năm., sắp tới lúc Ngài kết thúc
sự nghiệp của mình ở trần gian, một kiểu kết thúc mà không ai có thể ngờ
được, nghĩa là kết thúc bằng cái chết đớn đau tủi nhục trên Thập Giá.
Chính vì đoán trước rằng không ai có thể ngờ được việc đó cho nên Đức
Giêsu phải nói trước cho các môn đệ mình hay, để khi sự việc xảy ra thì
họ sẽ không quá ngỡ ngàng và hoang mang. Những lời báo trước về cuộc khổ
nạn mà chúng ta vừa nghe trong đoạn Tin Mừng này là lần loan báo thứ 3
rồi đó. Dù vậy, các môn đệ vẫn không hiểu. Họ cũng đoán là Đức Giêsu sắp
kết thúc hoạt động rao giảng, nhưng kết thúc một cách huy hoàng bằng
cách chiếm lấy quyền bính và lên ngôi vua. Chính vì nghĩ như vậy nên họ
bắt đầu tranh dành nhau xem trong cái chính phủ mà Đức Giêsu sắp lập ấy,
ai trong nhóm họ sẽ được giữ địa vị nào.</font></span></p>

xưa tới nay. Theo quan niệm cũ ấy thì ai là người lớn ? Thưa là người ở
địa vị cao, người được những kẻ khác hầu hạ. Còn ai là người nhỏ ? Thưa
là người ở địa vị thấp, người phải hầu hạ kẻ khác. Thí dụ như khi chúng
ta thấy một chiếc xe du lịch, trong số có hai người ngồi : một người ăn
mặc đàng hoàng sang trọng ngồi ở băng sau, và một người ăn mặc xuề xoà
ngồi cầm lái phía trước. Tự nhiên ta biết trong hai người đó, ai lớn, ai
nhỏ : người lớn chính là cái ông ăn mặc sang trọng đang ung dung ngồi
phía sau, còn người nhỏ là kẻ ăn mặc xuề xoà phải lái xe cho ông kia.
Hay khi chúng ta đang ngồi trong một phòng khách : có một người đang
ngồi tiếp chuyện với ta, uống nước trà, ăn bánh, hút thuốc, và một người
nữa lo bưng bánh, rót nước. Hỏi ai là người lớn ? Dĩ nhiên là người đang
ngồi. Còn ai là đầy tớ ? Dĩ nhiên đó là người đang phục vụ.</font></span></p>

của một em bé đối với bất cứ người nào nhìn, cũng thấy là dễ thương. Cho
nên khi thấy một em bé, ai cũng muốn bồng ẵm, muốn ôm hôn, muốn cho nó
ăn bánh, ăn kẹo. Tại sao người ta thương em bé và muốn cho nó đủ thứ như
vậy ? Có phải tại nó giỏi giang, tại nó giúp cho người ta được việc này
việc nọ không ? Thưa hoàn toàn không, đứa bé còn quá nhỏ, chưa biết là
gì, chưa giúp ích được gì. Nhưng người ta thương nói chỉ vì người ta
thương nó, thế thôi. Một tình thương hoàn toàn vô vụ lợi. Người ta cho
nó cái này cái nọ, cũng không phải để trả ơn nó hay để mong nó làm gì
giúp mình. Cũng chỉ vì thương mà phục vụ thôi. Chúa dùng hình ảnh em bé
để minh hoạ cho bài học phục vụ trên kia : chúng ta cũng phải cư xử với
mọi người theo kiểu chúng ta cư xử với một em bé : hết lòng yêu thương
phục vụ một cách hoàn toàn vô vụ lợi. Người nào biết phục vụ kẻ khác như
thế thì là phục vụ Chúa, và mới xứng đáng làm môn đệ Chúa.</font></span></p>

ấy, người chồng ấy nếu chỉ biết có ra lệnh bảo người này người nọ làm
mọi việc, nếu chỉ biết ngồi đó mà chê món ăn này dỡ, cái bàn này lau
chưa sạch, nhà cửa này lộn xộn lung tung ; nếu chỉ biết ăn no rồi đi
chơi, chỉ biết có nhậu nhẹt và để mặc vợ con làm tất cả, thì đó chính là
kẻ nhỏ nhất trong nhà, nhỏ hơn cả vợ mình, nhỏ hơn cả con mình. Bởi vì

Nếu xét theo tiêu chuẩn của Chúa, thì kẻ lớn nhất không hẳn là người có
địa vị cao nhất, không hẳn đó là ông trưởng xóm, không hẳn đó là ông
giám đốc, không hẳn đó là ông Chủ Tịch Hội Đồng Giáo Xứ. Mà rất có thể
kẻ được Chúa xét là lớn lại chính là một người mà ít ai để ý tới, người
đó không có chức có quyền nào, người đó âm thầm ít nói, nói ít mà làm
nhiều ; luôn luôn chu toàn nhiệm vụ mình, luôn tìm cách giúp ích cho
người khác.</font></span></p>

<span style="font-family: Times New Roman"><font size="4">- Thí dụ như
Linh mục Jean Marie Vianney. Cha là một người vừa kém thông minh và vừa
có tư cách cục mịch như một người nhà quê. Sau nhiều năm học ở Chủng
viện, Vianney thi không đủ điểm nên đáng lẽ bị loại. Nhưng người ta chỉ
thương tình mà cho đậu vớt và được phong chức Linh mục. Vì thấy Cha quá
kém cỏi. Đức Giám Mục đưa Cha đi làm Cha sở một họ đạo nhỏ xíu ở miền
quê mà giáo dân đã bỏ đạo gần hết, đó là họ Ars. Thế nhưng Cha Vianney
đã tận dụng tất cả các khả năng và sức lực Chúa ban để hết lòng phục vụ
họ đạo. Mỗi ngày Cha chỉ nghỉ ngơi 3,4 tiếng đồng hồ. Nhưng ngồi toà
giải tội thì liên miên, có khi tới 16 tiếng đồng hồ mỗi ngày. Cha không
có giờ nấu cơm, nên chỉ nấu một nồi khoai lớn để ăn dần cho suốt một
tuần lễ. Dần dần cả họ Ars trở lại, thành một họ đạo sốt sống gương mẫu.
Giáo dân từ các họ khác cũng đến đó để dự lễ, để nghe giảng, để xưng
tội. Có cả các tu sĩ, các Linh mục, Giám mục từ khắp nơi đến để nhờ Cha
giúp đỡ về mặt linh hồn. Sau này người viết tiểu sử của Cha đã nhận
định : Nếu cả Giáo Hội Nước Pháp mà có được chỉ một vài Linh mục như Cha
Vianney thôi thì cả nước Pháp đã nên Thánh,. Đó mới là người lớn thật
mặc dù chỉ là một Linh mục học kém, một Cha sở nhà quê, bởi vì sức phục
vụ của Cha thật là lớn.</font></span></p>

Giêsu gần tới giai đoạn quyết liệt nhất của cuộc đời là sắp bị bắt và

nhau, tranh dành địa vị với nhau xem ai lớn ai nhỏ trong nước mà họ
tưởng Chúa sẽ thành lập. Như thế đủ biết cái tính ganh ghét có thể xâm

đoan". Thánh Giacôbê là một người thực tế, nhận xét này của Ngài cũng
rất thực tế. Thật vậy chỗ nào có ganh ghét thì chỗ đó phát sinh đủ thứ

thánh. Khi một người đi tu, họ tự nguyện từ bỏ mái ấm gia đình và chọn
tu viện là gia đình mới, chọn các tu sĩ sống chung trong nhà là những
người anh chị em mới. Lẽ ra họ sẽ được hưởng một thứ hạnh phúc siêu
nhiên bù đắp cho thứ hạnh phúc tự nhiên mà họ đã tự nguyện từ bỏ. Nhưng

tranh đua này, nếu mình cảm thấy khó chịu, bực tức khổ sở trước thành
công của người khác, thì đó là dấu mình đã thua kém. Thua kém mà còn khó

2 của tính ganh ghét là gây cho nạn nhân bị mình ganh ghét. Vì ganh ghét
mà mình làm cho người ta buồn người ta khổ một cách hết sức bất công.
Chứ nếu công bình mà xét thì người ta đều có gì để đáng phải buồn khổ
như vậy. Chỉ vì người ta hay, người ta tốt, người ta giỏi mà người ta
phải khổ. Lẽ ra người ta phải được khen thưởng, phải được mừng vui thì
vì ganh ghét mà mình làm cho người ta khổ sở. Người bị ganh ghét như thế
lâm vào một hoàn cảnh thật khó xử : một đàng là công việc phải làm, đã
làm thì phải làm cho tốt, cho hay - mà càng tốt càng hay thì càng bị mỉa
mai dằn vật. Biết xử thế nào bây giờ ! Thật là khó. Thôi chỉ còn nước cứ
tiếp tục làm và cắn răng, nuốt nước mắt mà chịu đựng những lời mỉa mai
của kẻ ganh ghét.</font></span></p>

tính ganh ghét còn làm hại cho tập thể nữa. Người ganh ghét như một con
sâu, một con vi trùng độc hại, âm thầm mà hiểm độc phá hoại tập thể, làm
cho tập thể mất đoàn kết, mất bình an, mất hăng hái. Cho nên thật là tai
hại cho tập thể nào có một vài người ganh ghét ; và cũng thật là xui xẻo
cho ai lỡ thuộc về tập thể có vài kẻ ganh ghét như thế.</font></span></p>

vừa kể dẫu không nói ra thì ai cũng có thể nhận thấy. Nhưng có một điều
khó nhận thấy là ít ai nhận thấy mình mang tính ganh ghét. Ai cũng có
thể bị tính ganh ghét xâm nhập, nhưng ít ai biết mình đang có tính xấu
ấy. Chị em có thể ganh ghét nhau mà không hay ; bạn bè có thể ganh ghét
nhau mà không biết ; những người đồng lý tưởng có thể ganh ghét nhau làm
hại nhau mà không ngờ. Các con của ông Giacóp ganh ghét đến nỗi bán em
là Giuse mà vẫn thản nhiên ; các tông đồ ganh ghét tranh dành địa vị với
nhau đang lúc Đức Giêsu sắp bị bắt bị giết mà vẫn không thấy là kỳ.
Chúng ta cũng có thể đang ganh ghét với người đồng nghiệp của mình, với
người hàng xóm của mình, với chính anh chị em bạn bè của mình mà vẫn
không hay. Vì thế chúng ta phải hết sức khiêm nhường mỗi khi xét mình,
kiểm điểm dời sống. Dấu hiệu rõ ràng nhất cho biết mình đang có tính
ganh ghét là khi mình thấy người khác thành công, mình chẳng những không
vui mừng với người ta mà còn bực bội khó chịu với họ, hay thấy người ta
thất bại thì mình lại vui sướng.</font></span></p>

toàn vô vị lợi, vì không mong chờ sự đáp trả của những kẻ khốn khổ ấy.

giáo huấn của Đức Giêsu về cách làm lớn, một giáo huấn rất ngược đời nên

phục vụ mình, trái lại phải phục vụ người ta.</font></span></p>

chính tay ông tắm rửa cho các con ; chính ông dỗ ngủ các con ; ông bồng
bế con nhiều hơn mẹ chúng. Ông là người lớn nhất trong nhà nên phục vụ
nhiều nhất. Ông còn đặc biệt ở điểm này nữa là quan tâm chăm sóc đứa con
nhỏ nhất hơn các đứa khác. Bởi vậy khi có thêm một đứa em chào đời, thì
đứa anh hay chị gần nó nhất tự biết "thân phận" của mình, nhường cho em
nhỏ được hưởng những chăm sóc ưu tiên của ba.</font></span></p>
