<font size="4">Chết là một trong bốn nỗi khổ của kiếp sống con người: Sinh, bệnh, lão,
tử. Ai cũng muốn sống lâu, sống trường thọ; nhưng ước vọng ấy cũng chỉ
là ước vọng. Chết là số phận mà ai ai cũng phải một lần đi qua.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Có người chết vì tuổi già, có người chết vì bệnh hoạn, chết vì tại nạn,
chết vì chiến tranh… Không ai muốn chết và cũng không ai hay biết được
giờ nào mình phải ra đi. Nhưng có những cái chết làm bàng hoàng người
sống, mang nhiều nỗi nhớ thương, đó là cái chết vào tuổi thanh xuân, khi
cuộc sống mới bắt đầu chớm nở.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Phải chết đi mà lại được sống lại, thật là một niềm vui khôn tả đối với
người chết và người thân đang sống. Hôm nay chúng ta được nghe thuật lại
hai trường hợp chết đi sống lại của hai người trẻ tuổi.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Sau khi làm phép lạ cho hũ bột không vơi, vò dầu không cạn đủ cho hai mẹ
con bà goá ở Xarépta và cho mình sống lâu ngày, tiên tri Êlia được tạm
trú tại nhà bà goá. Thế rồi bất ngờ, con bà ngã bệnh và chết. Bà khóc
lóc trách móc Êlia đã mang cái xui xẻo đến cho bà. Êlia bồng lấy đứa trẻ
bà đang ẵm trong tay, đem lên phòng trên chỗ ông ở và đặt nó nằm lên
giường. Ông nằm lên trên đứa trẻ ba lần và kêu cầu: “Lạy Đức Chúa, Thiên
Chúa của con, xin cho hồn viá đứa trẻ này lại về với nó!” và Thiên Chúa
đã nghe lời ông kêu cầu. Đứa trẻ đã sống lại. Đó là chuyện xảy ra trong
thời Cựu Ước.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Vào thời Tân Ước, thánh sử Luca lại thuật lại một việc sống lại khác như
sau: Chúa Giêsu cùng các môn đệ và đám đông đi đến thành Naim. Khi gần
đến cửa thành, thì gặp người ta đang khiêng một người chết đi chôn;
người chết là con trai duy nhất của một bà goá. Thấy bà khóc thảm thiết,
Chúa Giêsu chạnh lòng thương; Ngài tiến lại gần, sờ vào quan tài và nói:
“Này người thanh niên, tôi bảo anh: hãy chỗi dậy!” Chàng thanh niên liền
ngồi lên và bắt đầu nói.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Cả hai người chết đều là những người chết trẻ, lại là những người con
duy nhất của những bá góa. Con là niềm vui và hy vọng cho tương lai của
hai bà trong lúc tuổi già. Thế mà những đứa con duy nhất của họ đã ra
đi. Còn nỗi buồn nào hơn nỗi buồn mất đứa con yêu dấu của mình!</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Êlia không trực tiếp làm cho người chết sống lại. Ông phải kêu cầu vào
quyền năng của Thiên Chúa; còn Chúa Giêsu là Đấng có quyền lực trên sự
sống và sự chết, trên thân xác và linh hồn, Ngài đã ra lệnh cho người
chết sống lại.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Trong trường hợp đứa bé của bà góa ở Xarépta sống lại, có một điểm chúng
ta cần lưu ý, đó là lời cầu xin của Êlia: “Lạy Đức Chúa, Thiên Chúa của
con, xin cho hồn viá đứa trẻ này lại về với nó!”</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Đứa trẻ của con bà góa ở Xarépta đã chết. Linh hồn đã lià khỏi xác. Tiên
tri Êlia đã ba lần nằm lên đứa bé đã chết để truyền sinh khí cho nó,
nhưng sinh khí ấy cũng chưa đủ để làm cho đứa bé sống lại; ông đã phải
xin Thiên Chúa cho thần khí của đứa trẻ trở lại với thân xác. Hồn trở về
với xác và đứa trẻ đã sống lại.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Như thế, chúng ta có thể xác tín rằng con người được tạo dựng theo hình
ảnh của Thiên Chúa. Con người là một thực thể đơn nhất gồm hồn và xác,
vừa thể xác vừa tinh thần: “Thiên Chúa lấy đất sét nặn ra con người,
thổi sinh khí vào lỗ mũi và con người trở nên một sinh vật” (St. 2:7).
Linh hồn là sự sống, là sự toàn diện, là cái thâm sâu nhất của con
người, là cái giá trị nhất nơi con người; nhờ đó con người là hình ảnh
của Thiên Chúa cách đặc biệt: linh hồn là nguyên lý thần linh nơi con
người. Linh hồn bất tử. Thân xác chết, nhưng linh hồn vẫn sống.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Nhưng đứa trẻ kia, chàng thanh niên nọ, hay người đầy tớ của người sĩ
quan kia hay ông Lagiarô, Chúa cho họ sống lại là vì lòng xót thương nỗi
đau khổ của người thân đang sống. Họ được sống lại, nhưng rồi cũng phải
chết. Chết hai lần!</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Sinh ký tử quy. Con người phải chết, đó là điều tự nhiên.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Chết là chấm đứt khoảng thời gian chúng ta có mặt trên trần thế. Trong
khoảng thời gian ấy, con người thay đổi, già đi rồi chết, bệnh hoạn rồi
chết, tai nạn rồi chết…không ai biết được cái chết sẽ đến lúc nào.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Nhờ cái chết, chúng ta biết thân phận mình có hạn, nhưng với con mắt đức
tin, chết là linh hồn lià khỏi xác. chết là ra đi, chết là trở về để chờ
ngày phục sinh cùng với thân xác. Chết là kết thúc cuộc lữ hành trần
thế, kết thúc thời gian Thiên Chúa gia ân và thương xót để chúng ta sống
cuộc đời trần thế theo ý Chúa và quyết định số phận tối hậu của mình.
Muốn được phục sinh với Đức Kitô, chúng ta cũng phải chết với Ngài.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Chết không phải là sự đau buồn mất mát, nhưng là một niềm mong đợi như
thánh Phaolô đã nói: “Ao ước của tôi là ra đi để được ở với Đức Kito”.(
Pl. 1:23); đối với thánh nhân: “Sống là Đức Kitô và chết là một mối lợi”
(Pl 1: 21) và thánh Têrêxa Hài Đồng Giêsu, trước những giây phút cuối
cùng của cuộc sống cũng đã nói: “Tôi không chết, nhưng đang bước vào
cuộc sống”.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Khi chết, linh hồn lià khỏi xác. Thân xác lâm cảnh hư nát trong khi linh
hồn đến gặp Thiên Chúa.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Bất cứ cảnh tang chế nào cũng đau buồn. Là những người đang sống, chúng
ta khóc thương cho người thân đã chết. Đau buồn trước mất mát của người
thân yêu là điều tốt và cần thiết; nhưng trong cảnh đau thương ấy lại là
một niềm vui cho người quá cố. Đức tin là một sự an ủi và nâng đỡ người
sống trong lúc có tang chế, nó làm cho chúng ta đau buồn trong niềm hy
vọng sẽ gặp lại những người thân yêu. Họ ra đi để trở về với sự sống
vĩnh cửu. Họ chết nhưng lại không chết. Họ chết về thân xác nhưng linh
hồn vẫn sống. Họ chỉ thay đổi thế giới. Họ không trở lại với chúng ta
nhưng rồi chúng ta sẽ đi gặp họ. Những người chết là những người ra đi
trước chúng ta. Khóc thương người chết là khóc thương cho số phận linh
hồn của họ không biết thế nào sau cái chết hơn là cho thân xác. Cầu
nguyện cho các linh hồn là chúng sống liên kết với họ.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Đứa con của vua Đavít với vợ ông Urigia bị bệnh nặng. Vua Đavít cầu khẩn
Thiên Chúa cho đứa trẻ, vua ăn chay nhiệm nhặt, và khi về nhà ngủ đêm
thì nằm dưới đất. Các kỳ mục trong nhà của vua nài nỉ xin vua trổi dậy,
nhưng vua không chịu và cũng không ăn uống chút gì với họ. Đến ngày thứ
bảy, đứa bé chết. Triều thần vua Đavít sợ không dám báo cho vua biết đứa
bé đã chết, vì họ bảo nhau: “Khi đứa trẻ còn sống, chúng ta đã nói với
đức vua, nhưng ngài không nghe. Bây giờ làm thế nào để nói với ngài là
đứa bé đã chết? Hẳn ngài sẽ làm liều!” Thấy triều thần thầm thì với
nhau, vua Đavít hiểu là đứa trẻ đã chết. Vua Đavít hỏi triều thần: “Có
phải đứa bé chết rồi không?” Họ thưa: “Vâng, chết rồi!”.</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Bấy giờ vua Đavít từ dưới đất trỗi dậy, tắm rửa, xức dầu thơm, thay quần
áo; rồi vua vào Nhà Đức Chúa mà phủ phục. Trở về nhà, vua yêu cầu người
ta dọn bữa và vua đã ăn. Triều thần nói với vua: “Ngài làm gì vậy? Khi
đứa bé còn sống, thì ngài ăn chay và khóc lóc vì nó. Khi đứa bé chết
rồi, thì ngài lại trỗi dậy và dùng bữa!” Vua trả lời: “Bao lâu đứa bé
còn sống, ta ăn chay và khóc lóc, vì ta tự bảo: Biết đâu Đức Chúa sẽ
thương ta và đứa bé sẽ sống! Bây giờ nó chết rồi, ta ăn chay làm gì? Hỏi
rằng ta còn có thể làm cho nó trở lại được không? Ta đi đến với nó, chứ
nó không trở lại với ta”. ( 2Sm, 12: 16-23)</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Chúa Giêsu không nói: Ta là sự sống và là sự sống lại, nhưng Ngài nói:
Ta là sự sống lại và là sự sống”. Sống lại với Đức Kitô để rồi như Ngài
sống vinh hiển trong Nước Thiên Chúa. “Nếu ta cùng chết với Ngài, chúng
ta sẽ cùng sống lại với Ngài”( 2Tm 2: 11)</font></span></p>

<font size="4">Thánh Phaolô đã cho chúng ta một kinh nghiệm sống: “Tôi sống, nhưng
không còn phải là tôi, mà là Đức Kitô sống trong tôi. Hiện nay, tôi sống
trong xác phàm, là sống trong niềm tin vào Con Thiên Chúa, Đấng đã yêu
mến tôi và hiến mạng vì tôi” (Gl. 2:20).</font></span></p>
