<span style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">Chỉ là thụ tạo mà muốn làm Thượng
đế, đó là ảo tưởng muôn đời của con người. Ngay từ đầu lịch sử nhân loại,
Ông Bà nguyên tổ của loài người đã trải qua cơn cám dỗ ấy. Ma quỉ nói với
Ông Bà: Các ngươi hãy ăn trái cấm, các ngươi sẽ trở thành Thiên Chúa, nghĩa
là các ngươi hãy chối bỏ Thiên Chúa và tự tôn mình thành Thiên Chúa để sống
mà không cần có Thiên Chúa. Ðó là cơn cám dỗ triền miên của con người: sống
không cần Thiên Chúa, loại trừ Thiên Chúa ra khỏi cuộc sống, để tự tạo cho
mình một bậc thang giá trị và trở thành thẩm phán tối cao cho mọi hành động
của mình cũng như của người khác.</span></p>

<span style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">Những lời Chúa nói hôm nay không đơn
thuần chỉ là bài học có tính cách luân lý. Chúa Giêsu không chỉ khuyên chúng
ta không nên xét đoán người khác. Ngài còn mời gọi chúng ta tự đặt mình vào
mối tương quan với Thiên Chúa: Chỉ có Thiên Chúa, Đấng thấu suốt lòng con
người mới có thể xét xử con người. Nhìn nhận quyền xét xử của Thiên Chúa,
con người cũng sẽ nhận ra thân phận tội lỗi yếu hèn của mình. “Hãy lấy cái
dằm ra khỏi mắt ngươi trước đã”, nghĩa là hãy nhận ra thân phận bất toàn của
mình trước.</span></p>

với Thiên Chúa, con người mới thấy được tương quan của mình với tha nhân.
Thật thế, chối bỏ và cắt đứt mối tương quan với Thiên Chúa, con người sẽ đi
đến chỗ chối bỏ tha nhân. Ngược lại, nhận ra Thiên Chúa là Chủ tể, con người
cũng sẽ nhận ra thân phận thụ tạo yếu hèn của mình và tình liên đới với tha
nhân.</span></p>

<span style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">Ngày xưa, nhà hiền triết Hy Lạp là
Socrate đã đề ra khẩu hiệu như bài học vỡ lòng cho các môn sinh của mình:
“Hỡi người, hãy tự biết mình”. Chúa Giêsu của chúng ta cũng đề cao sự sám
hối: “Hãy sám hối và tin vào Tin Mừng”. “Hãy sám hối” trước tiên là nhận ra
thân phận bất toàn đầy dẫy những lỗi lầm thiếu xót của mình, để rồi từ đó
con người sẽ biết sống cảm thông, kiên nhẫn, bao dung và tha thứ đối với
người khác hơn. Sống như thế, con người mới đạt được cùng đích của mình là
trở nên giống Thiên Chúa, chứ không phải trở thành Thiên Chúa để gạt bỏ
chính Thiên Chúa ra khỏi cuộc sống.</span></p>

bắt quả tang phạm một lỗi nặng. Vì ích chung của cộng đoàn, các tu sĩ ở
chung nhà liền mở một phiên xử và mời vị Tu Viện Trưởng đến tham dự, nhưng
ngài đã từ chối. Một vài người đại diện các tu sĩ đến nài nỉ:</em></span></p>

vì thấy ngài mang trên vai một cái giỏ đầy cát. Những hạt cát chui theo một
lỗ hổng chảy dài trên lưng của ngài. Thấy mọi người ngạc nhiên, ngài giải
thích như sau:</em></span></p>

lã trã trên lưng của tôi, nhưng tôi thì không hề nhìn thấy. Tội lỗi của tôi
cũng giống như những hạt cát này, nó chảy tràn lan trong tôi mà tôi không
nhìn thấy. Tội lỗi đầy tràn mà tôi không thấy, thì làm sao tôi dám đoán xét
người khác</em>.</span></p>
