người khác. Có những người quyền thế luôn cho mình là người hữu lý, họ muốn
chinh phục những ai nghĩ tưởng khác họ về với ý kiến của họ. Lối phê bình đó
đưa họ tới chỗ xét đoán và kết án mọi chuyện, mọi người, dĩ nhiên là trừ một
mình họ. Quả thực, những người ưa phê bình tỏ ra rất nhậy cảm trước những
lời người ta ca thán về mình.</span></p>

khác hẳn: người ta không xét đoán, không trù rủa nhưng cho đi và tha thứ.</span></p>

đoán đều bị đình chỉ. Giữa sự đoán xét của cá nhân và sự xét đoán theo lương
tâm chức nghiệp có một sự khác biệt về căn bản. Khi cha mẹ xét đoán con cái,
người có bổn phận giáo dục đối với thanh thiếu niên, bề trên đối với bề
dưới, quan toà với tội nhân, những người đó hoàn tất một bổn phận cần thiết
và do Thiên Chúa muốn. Thái độ của họ tuỳ thuộc vào tinh thần hướng dẫn họ.
Và đó phải là một tâm tình khiêm hạ: không coi mình là hay hơn, tốt hơn
người khác, phải xét đoán họ theo những quy tắc của họ, và phải áp dụng cho
mình những đòi buộc tương tự, nếu không muốn nói là áp dụng cho mình những
đòi hỏi cao hơn…</span></p>

không chút xót thương, những cách kết án phi nhân đạo, chủ nghĩa giáo điều

để điều chỉnh thái độ của chúng ta:</span></p>

<em style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">Thứ nhất</em></strong> và trọng nhất
là mối liên hệ của ta với Thiên Chúa. Chúng ta đang đứng trước pháp đình và
không thể tự bào chữa cho mình được. Do đó, hẳn ta sẽ nghĩ đến lòng nhân từ.
Như vậy ta phải thông cảm với bất cứ con nợ nào, và phải có tâm hồn bao
dung, không xét đoán theo những luật lệ khắc nghiệt. Nhưng hành động theo
lòng trắc ẩn. Những quan hệ đứng đắn với Thiên Chúa sẽ điều chỉnh các mối
quan hệ giữa con người với nhau.</span></p>

<em style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">Thứ hai</em></strong> là mối quan hệ
giữa người với người. Ai dạy dỗ người khác thì coi mình là người hướng đạo,
trường hợp này điều chủ yếu là hướng dẫn viên phải sáng suốt để tránh tình
trạng mù lại dẫn mù, và cả hai đều sa xuống hố.</span></p>

và xét đoán bản thân mình cách quân bình mới có thể hiểu biết và xét đoán
tha nhân. Trong việc điều khiển chính xác, những điều kiện đầu tiên nhằm vào
vị thủ lãnh. Mọi sự cải tổ đúng nghĩa đều phải khởi sự từ chính bản thân
mình. Ta chỉ có thể phê bình người khác sau khi đã tự phê chính bản thân ta.</span></p>

<em style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">Thứ ba</em></strong> là phải có một
caí nhìn thấu suốt chính bản thân mình. Bởi vì kẻ cho mình là tốt hơn tha
nhân, theo lời Chúa Giêsu, là kẻ giả hình. Y tạo cho mình vẻ bề ngoài giả
dối và hành động của y cũng như vậy. Y kêu rêu vì cọng rơm trong mắt anh em
như thể mắt y không có gì cả, đang khi thực sự mắt y lại có cả một cái xà
che khuất.</span></p>

<span style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">Như vậy, lý do Chúa Giêsu đưa ra đây
hạ dần từ Thiên Chúa xuống tha nhân, và rồi đến chính mình. Ai tỏ ra lạnh
nhạt với động lực đạo đức (quan hệ với Thiên Chúa). Thì ít là phải tỏ ra mẫn
cảm với động lực xã hội… Nếu không, hẳn sẽ phải nhận mình là dị hợm vì khi
đi khiển trách tha nhân và đề cao mình khi tìm cách cải thiện những kẻ tốt
hơn mình và khi để ý đến lầm lỗi tha nhân, thì lại bị mọi người chế nhạo.</span></p>

<span style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">Muốn biết vị thày nào đáng cho ta
tin cậy hay không, nên xem xét những việc ông ta làm, đây là tiêu chuẩn chắc
chắn. Xem quả thì biết cây. Những hành vi lương hảo tượng trưng cho hoa trái
chín thơm trên thân cây lành mạnh; còn hành động xấu xa là hoa trái ung thối
do thân cây sâu bệnh mà ra.</span></p>

thể ví như một cây khô héo không còn sinh hoa kết quả: bởi vì không lẽ ta
hái vả nơi bụi gai và vặt nho nơi cây dâu đất. Chẳng nên căn cứ vào lời lẽ
bay bướm, hứa hẹn hay chương trình ồn ào phĩnh phờ, tình cảm kiểu cách biểu
lộ hấp dẫn, hàng chuỗi sưả soạn nội bộ.</span></p>

sống là tiêu chuẩn định giá trị, là bằng chứng điều họ xác tín, và như thế
ta biết có thể tin vào sự hướng dẫn của họ hay không. Nói cho cùng, hành
động tinh thần chỉ là một, sự nhất trí này là mức độ sự thành toàn.</span></p>

hình ảnh đặt quan trọng ở cách cư xử. Một ngôi nhà xây trên nền đá vững
chãi, bão tố không làm chi được; còn căn nhà dựng trên bãi cát, sẽ sụp đổ
một khi mưa giông, bão giật đổ tới. Người nào không chỉ nghe suông, nhưng
mang ra thực hành, thì giống như người xây nhà trên đá; còn người nghe và hồ
hởi đón nhận, nhưng tư cách không phù hợp với giáo lý là người xây nhà trên
cát.</span></p>
