và bị sút gần 20 ký vì sống trong thiếu thốn vật chất cũng như tinh thần,
một nhà truyền giáo nọ đã bình tĩnh trả lời câu hỏi của các phóng viên về
những gì mình đang suy tính trong lòng: “Tôi vẫn yêu mến đất nước và dân tộc
đó, như ngày tôi mới đến truyền giáo cách đây 40 năm. Tôi đã tha thứ cho
những kẻ bắt giữ và hành hạ tôi. Tôi muốn nói với họ rằng tôi không có gì
thù ghét họ, nhưng vẫn yêu thương và sẵn sàng trở lại đó làm việc mục vụ”.</span></p>

Hội cho chúng ta lắng nghe hôm nay, cũng không mập mờ, không nhượng bộ hay
chiều theo khuynh hướng tự nhiên của con người muốn giới hạn tình yêu của
mình đối với tha nhân.</span></p>

<span style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">“Hãy yêu mến anh em mình”, mệnh lệnh
này được ghi rõ trong sách Lêvi 19,18. Những anh em được nhắc đến ở đây chỉ
những kẻ thân thuộc, đồng hương, thuộc về dân riêng của Chúa. Còn câu: “Hãy
ghét kẻ thù địch” thì chúng ta không gặp thấy công thức nào tương tự như vậy
trong Kinh thánh. Những lời này có thể hiểu như một diễn tả tự nhiên của tâm
lý thường tình nơi con người, một hậu quả của tình yêu thương có giới hạn
trong khung cảnh những kẻ thân thuộc, những người thuộc về cùng một dân tộc,
một xã hội. Theo tâm thức hạn hẹp của Cựu ước, bất cứ ai không thuộc về dân
Chúa chọn, thì người đó là kẻ xa lạ, là kẻ thù địch, không được yêu thương.</span></p>

<span style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">Chúa Giêsu đã đến để mặc khải sứ
điệp trọn hảo hơn, bẻ gẫy những giới hạn tự nhiên: “Còn Thầy, Thầy bảo các
con: hãy yêu kẻ thù và cầu nguyện cho những kẻ ngược đãi các con”. Chúng ta
chú ý đến hai chi tiết trong lời dạy của Chúa Giêsu:</span></p>

nhất</em></strong>: không còn ai bị loại ra khỏi tình yêu thương của người
môn đệ Chúa và sự phân chia con người ra làm hai loại: thân thuộc và thù
địch không còn nữa.</span></p>

hai</em></strong>: tình yêu thương đó được thể hiện bằng những hành động cụ
thể, và quan trọng nhất, đó là thi ân và cầu nguyện cho những kẻ không tự
nhiên được chúng ta yêu thương, và đây không còn là tình yêu thương theo
tình cảm, mà tình yêu thương thực sự hướng đến lợi ích của người khác.</span></p>

vậy? Bởi vì chúng ta là con cái của Thiên Chúa và do đó phải noi gương trọn
lành của Ngài, đấng cho mặt trời mọc lên soi sáng kẻ xấu cũng như người
lành.</span></p>

thương của Chúa, để chúng ta được giải thoát khỏi tình yêu hạn hẹp, có tính
toán, mà quảng đại yêu thương tất cả mọi người, ngay cả kẻ chống đối và có
ác cảm với chúng ta.</span></p>
