phát ra những lời nói việc làm tốt. Bởi thế người môn đệ phải liệu làm sao

mình, để thấy "cái đà" của kiêu căng tự mãn, của phô trương giả hình, để

điều cần thiết của mỗi tín hữu Ki tô, nhất là những vị lãnh đạo, hướng dẫn

lỗi nặng. Lập tức các thầy dòng lớn tuổi họp lại để lên án anh ta. Tuy nhiên
cần phải có mặt của Thầy Bề Trên thì phiên họp mới tiến hành được. Vì thế họ
phái người đi mời Bề Trên: "Xin Bề trên đến mau, cộng đoàn đang chờ Thầy".
Thầy Bề Trên đứng dậy, lấy một chiếc thúng có nhiều lỗ thủng. Thầy đổ đầy
cát vào thúng, rồi mang nó sau lưng đi đến phòng họp. Dĩ nhiên cát rơi đầy
dọc đường. Các Thầy già hỏi Bề Trên làm việc đó vì ý gì thế. Và Thầy Bề trên
trả lời: "Tội lỗi tôi rơi đầy sau lưng tôi. Tôi đi đến đâu cũng để lại một
dãy tội phía sau. Chỉ có điều là tôi không thấy chúng. Thế mà hôm nay anh em
lại bảo tôi ngồi tòa kết tội một người anh em của tôi sao!" Nghe thế, các
thầy già xấu hổ và bỏ ý định lên án ông thầy trẻ.</span></p>

thành những chuyên gia tìm ra tội người khác và phê phán họ. Nhưng những kẻ
phê phán không phải là những người cải tạo thế giới. Chúa Giêsu bảo chúng ta
hãy lấy cái xà trong mắt mình ra trước, rồi mới tính đến chuyện lấy cái rác
khỏi mắt anh em. Chúng ta phải lo dọn dẹp nhà mình cho ngăn nắp trước, rồi
mới bảo người khác dọn dẹp nhà họ. Nếu không làm như thế thì chúng ta không
phán đoán anh em vì quan tâm tới họ, mà chỉ vì thù ghét muốn làm hại họ. Ít
có việc nào thoả mãn tính ích kỷ của mình cho bằng vạch tội người khác.</span></p>

lại chúng ta rất khó chịu khi bị người khác vạch lỗi của chúng ta ra. Phải
chăng đó là biểu hiện của tính ích kỷ?</span></p>

nước thì nghe tiếng một con chích choè đang hót trên cành cây. Nó bực mình
thét to: "Im đi, cái con chim xấu xa. Mầy không thấy tao đang uống nước
sao?". Con chích choè không chịu thua, cãi lại: "Bộ ông đẹp đẽ lắm sao? Ông
thử soi mặt ông trên mặt nước rồi sẽ biết". Con tê giác nghĩ trong bụng:
"Soi thì soi. Ai mà không biết ta là người hoàn hảo". Nhưng vừa nhìn xuống
mặt nước, tê giác nhà ta bỗng giật mình vì khám phá một chiếc sừng quái dị
nằm ngay trên mũi mình. Biết mình còn xấu xí hơn tất cả các con vật có sừng
khác, nó xấu hổ quá: "Ta không thể nhìn mặt các con vật khác được. Ta tiều
đời rồi". Kể từ hôm đó, khi đi, nó luôn cúi gằm mặt xuống đất. Nó cũng chẳng
dám cho ai thấy mặt cả, cứ trốn trong các lùm cây.</span></p>

Cuối cùng nó chẳng còn lựa chọn nào khác là chấp nhận sự thật. Khi đã có can

vật khác. Và các con vật kia rất ngạc nhiên khi gặp lại nó: một anh tê giác
khác hẳn trước, thật hiền lành và dễ thương làm sao!</span></p>

thứ khuyết điểm khác. Nó cũng thay đổi nhờ biết chấp nhận bản thân mình,
không xấu hổ vì chiếc sừng của mình nữa và cũng không lo các con vật kia sẽ
nghĩ sao về nó nữa.</span></p>

để vào rừng ẩn tu. Thầy nghĩ rằng đó là cách khỏi phải bị người khác làm
phiền và nhờ đó mà bỏ được tính nóng giận. Thế là thầy dựng một căn lều
trong rừng, chẳng mang theo gì khác ngoài một bình nước. Nhưng trong một lần
bất cẩn, thầy làm đổ bình nước, nên phải trở về tu viện để lấy bình nước
khác. Tuy nhiên khi trở về lều, thầy lại bất cẩn làm đổ nước nữa. Lại chịu
khó lần nữa. Nhưng sự việc lại tái diễn lần thứ ba. Khi ấy cơn giận bốc lên
ngùn ngụt. Thầy dập chiếc bình vỡ tan tành, rồi ngồi bẹp xuống đất, hoàn
toàn thất vọng về bản thân mình.</span></p>

người thầy, cho nên dù thầy đã vào tận trong rừng sâu, nó vẫn còn đi theo
