quan nhân quả mang tính tất yếu giữa quá khứ và hiện tại, giữa hiện tại và
tương lai, hay giữa thời trước và thời sau. Tương quan đó diễn tiến theo
những định luật cố định đã được Thiên Chúa thiết lập trong vũ trụ. Những
định luật đó có thể tóm lại trong những mệnh đề sau đây: Có gieo mới có gặt;
Gieo nhân nào gặt quả nấy; Gieo ít thì gặt ít, gieo nhiều thì gặt nhiều; Từ

nào xảy ra trong cuộc đời mà không có nguyên nhân. Thấy một cây rợp bóng mát
bên vệ đường, không ai nghĩ rằng tự nhiên nó mọc lên, mà nghĩ rằng phải có
người trồng nó. Hay ít ra là có một con chim nào đó đã gieo hạt ở đấy… Hạnh
phúc hay đau khổ ta được hưởng hay phải chịu đều có nguyên nhân do chính ta
- đôi khi do ai đó - tạo ra trước đó. Và những gì ta đang có hoặc đang làm
đều là nguyên nhân phát sinh hiệu quả trong tương lai. Sách Giảng Viên viết:
«Kẻ không gieo chẳng bao giờ gặt» (Gv 11,4).</span></p>

cây cam, ta chắc chắn nó phải mọc lên từ hạt cam, không thể từ một hạt khác
được. Nghĩa là thấy nhân thì biết quả, và nhìn quả thì biết nhân: «Cứ xem
người ta sinh ra quả nào, thì biết họ là ai. Ở bụi gai, làm gì có nho mà
hái? Hễ cây tốt thì sinh quả tốt, cây xấu thì sinh quả xấu. Cây tốt không
thể sinh quả xấu, cũng như cây xấu không thể sinh quả tốt» (Mt 7,16-18).
Cũng vậy, hành động tốt ắt phải đem lại hạnh phúc, và hành động xấu ắt phải
dẫn đến đau khổ. Sự tương ứng này đạo Phật gọi là «nghiệp báo». Thánh Kinh
viết: «Ai gieo giống nào thì sẽ gặt giống ấy» (Gl 6,7); «Gieo gió thì phải
gặt bão» (Hs 8,7; x. G 4,8);</span></p>

thì gặt nhiều» (2Cr 9,6): Nhân và quả không chỉ tương ứng về chất, mà còn về
lượng nữa. Gieo một hạt thì chỉ được một cây, gieo trăm hạt thì được cả trăm
cây.</span></p>

phải có thời gian: Thời gian là một yếu tố quan trọng để hạt phát triển
thành cây, và để cây ra trái. Thời gian đó lâu hay mau tuỳ từng loại cây.
Cây ngô chỉ cần trồng 3 tháng là ra trái, nhưng cây sầu riêng thì phải mất 7
đến 10 năm. Không thể thúc cây mọc nhanh hơn hay giục hoa kết trái sớm hơn.
Kết quả của việc lành nhiều khi phải 5, 10 năm sau mới hưởng được. Cũng như
hậu quả của một hành động xấu phải 3, 4 năm hay cả chục năm sau mới thấy
được. Do đó, nhiều khi phải chờ đợi kết quả, hoặc đừng tưởng sẽ tránh được
hậu quả. Rất nhiều trường hợp hành động ở đời này, nhưng đến đời sau mới
sinh kết quả hay hậu quả.</span></p>

Để cây lúa mọc lên và sinh ra hạt lúa, người nông dân phải cày bừa, gieo
hạt, làm cỏ, dẫn nước, trừ sâu, bón phân, rồi gặt, đập lúa và xay lúa. Bao
công lao và mồ hôi phải đổ ra: «Ai ơi bưng bát cơm đầy, dẻo thơm một hạt
đắng cay muôn phần» (Ca dao). Nhưng công lao và mồ hôi ấy nếu chính đáng sẽ
đổi thành vui mừng và hạnh phúc: «Gieo trong đau thương sẽ gặt giữa vui
mừng» (Tv 126,5-6).</span></p>

phúc. Nhưng người khôn thì tránh được khổ và tạo được hạnh phúc, còn người
dại tuy muốn tránh khổ nhưng vẫn vướng đau khổ và không tìm thấy hạnh phúc.
Vì «người khôn sợ nhân, người dại sợ quả». Muốn tránh khổ thì phải tránh từ
nhân. Cứ tạo nhân khổ thì khi quả khổ đến làm sao tránh được? Muốn được phúc
thì phải tạo phúc từ nhân. Nếu tạo nhân phúc thì dù chẳng mong cầu, quả phúc
vẫn đến.</span></p>

đang phải sống trong những chế độ độc tài, thiếu nhân quyền và tự do cần
thiết. Họ cảm thấy khó sống nên quyết tâm đi tị nạn, nghĩa là di chuyển với
bất cứ giá nào đến những vùng đất tự do để cuộc sống thoải mái hơn. Những
người có ý định đi tị nạn này có hai cách suy nghĩ và hai cách sống khi còn
ở vùng đất cũ mà họ muốn rời bỏ:</span></p>

<span style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">Cách 1: Từ khi có ý định đi tị nạn,
họ coi cuộc sống của họ tại vùng đất họ đang sống như cuộc sống tạm bợ, và
coi cuộc sống họ sẽ sống tại vùng đất tự do mới là cuộc sống đích thực và
lâu dài của họ. Vì thế, nhiều người đến tuổi lập gia đình đã không dấn thân
vào tình yêu để không bị cản trở cho việc dời đổi chỗ ở. Nhiều người bị
thiếu thốn nghèo khổ nhưng đã từ chối những chỗ làm có lương bổng rất lớn để
khỏi bị ràng buộc vào hợp đồng khi cần phải ra đi. Nhiều người rất giàu có,
thay vì mua sắm nhà cửa, ruộng vườn, xe cộ sang trọng như những người giàu
có khác, thì lại chấp nhận sống nghèo khổ để có thể dành tiền hầu có thể sử
dụng trong cuộc sống mới. Tóm lại, tại vùng đất cũ, họ sống một cách đơn sơ,
khó nghèo, làm những nghề tạm bợ để «lấy ngắn nuôi dài», tạm ngưng tiến hành
tất cả những chuyện quan trọng trong cuộc đời. Tất cả đều để chuẩn bị cho
cuộc sống sau này tại vùng đất tự do.</span></p>

<span style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">Cách 2: Mặc dù có ý định đi tị nạn,
nhưng những người theo cách này chẳng chuẩn bị gì cho cuộc sống sắp tới. Khi
còn sống tại vùng đất mà họ sẽ rời bỏ, họ sống như thể họ sẽ sống ở đấy vĩnh
viễn. Vì thế, họ mua sắm nhà cửa, ruộng vườn, xe cộ như bao người không có ý
định tị nạn. Họ tiếp tục tính toán những chuyện lâu dài như dấn thân vào
tình yêu hôn nhân, hợp đồng làm ăn lâu dài với nhiều người, v.v… Đến khi
được phép ra đi, họ không kịp bán ruộng vườn, nhà cửa, xe cộ, nên phải bỏ
lại tất cả. Tình yêu hôn nhân của họ đang tiến hành bỗng dở dang: đi thì
đành phải chia tay với người yêu và thành kẻ bội tình, mà muốn chung tình
thì phải bỏ ý định đi tị nạn… Các hợp đồng lâu dài bỗng nhiên bị cắt ngang
và phải bồi thường (nếu không trả trước khi ra đi thì khi qua vùng đất mới
cũng phải trả)… Vì thế, khi đến vùng đất tự do, họ không còn gì, mà nợ nần
thì chồng chất.</span></p>

ngoan hơn? Khi còn ở vùng đất cũ, những người theo cách 1 phải sống thiếu
thốn, khó khăn, đang khi những người theo cách 2 thì sống rất đầy đủ, ung
dung. Nhưng khi sang đến vùng đất mới thì ngược lại, người theo cách 1 có
một tương lai tươi sáng, còn người theo cách 2 có một tương lai đen tối. Vậy
thì sự khó khăn thiếu thốn của những người theo cách 1 ở vùng đất cũ là hoạ
hay là phúc? Và sự đầy đủ, ung dung của những người theo cách 2 ở vùng đất
cũ là phúc hay là hoạ?</span></p>

- mà theo Thánh Kinh thì thủ lãnh của nó là ma quỉ (x. Ga 12,31; 14,30;
16,11; Ep 2,2) - đầy những bất trắc, đau khổ và đầy hạn chế… có khác gì cuộc
sống khó khăn dưới một chế độ độc tài. Nhưng cũng theo Thánh Kinh, chúng ta
còn có một cuộc sống khác lâu dài hơn, hạnh phúc hơn, tự do hơn rất nhiều ở
bên kia cõi chết; đó là đời sau hay cuộc sống vĩnh cửu. Cuộc sống cơ cực đời
này kéo dài nhiều lắm khoảng 100 năm, còn cuộc sống hạnh phúc kia kéo dài vô
tận. Người Kitô hữu tuy sống ở trần gian, tuy tích cực xây dựng cuộc sống ở
trần gian, nhưng tâm hồn luôn ngưỡng vọng về cuộc sống hạnh phúc đời sau. Có
hai cách sống ở đời này, tương tự như cách 1 và 2 trong minh hoạ trên.</span></p>

cách nào? Những gì bất lợi cho cuộc sống đời sau, dù nó có đem lại lợi lộc
vô vàn ở đời này, cũng là những mối hoạ. Còn những gì thuận lợi cho cuộc
sống đời sau, dù có đem lại nhiều bất lợi cho cuộc sống đời này, cũng là
những mối phúc. Đặt vấn đề như thế, chúng ta sẽ dễ hiểu được đâu là những
mối phúc đích thực, đâu là những mối hoạ đích thực khi ở trần gian này. Nhờ
đó ta mới hiểu được những câu nói có vẻ như nghịch lý của Đức Giêsu trong
bài Tin Mừng trên.</span></p>

gieo nhân nào thì gặt quả nấy. Nếu con gieo nhân thuộc trần gian, con sẽ gặt
được những gì thuộc trần gian. Nếu con gieo nhân thuộc vĩnh cửu, con sẽ gặt
được những gì thuộc vĩnh cửu. Khi còn ở trần gian, nếu con chỉ gieo nhân
thuộc trần gian, thì khi bước sang đời sống vĩnh cửu, con hoàn toàn trắng
tay. Nếu ở đời này, con gieo nhân cho đời sau, thì đời sau con sẽ giàu có,
nhưng đời này con phải chấp nhận cuộc sống chỉ tạm đủ với những gì tình
thương quan phòng của Cha ban cho con. Xin cho con nhận ra đâu là cách gieo
