mừng kính các Thánh Tử Đạo tại V.N.</span></p>

1. Chúng ta hân hoan và hãnh diện vì </span><i>
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">
3 lý do:</span></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
- Trước hết vì các ngài </span><i>
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">là
người đã chết trên dất nước Việt Nam thân yêu này của chúng ta</span><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; font-weight: normal">.
</span></i>
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";
font-weight:normal">Tertulianô sử gia của Lamã thuở xưa đã nói: “Hạt máu của
những vị tử đạo là hạt giống nảy sinh ra những người kitô hữu khác."
Thật không gì vui mừng và hãnh diện, tự hào khi đất nước chúng ta có
những vị thánh góp mặt với Giáo Hội toàn cầu. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
- Tiếp đến là vì </span><i>
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">số
lượng lớn lao đông đảo</span></i><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
các Thánh tử đạo VN của chúng ta đã có mặt trong Lịch sử của Giáo Hội.
Với 117 vị Thánh, Giáo Hội VN </span><i>
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">
được xếp</span></i><span style="font-size:14.0pt;
font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
hạng nhất nhì trong sổ bộ các thánh đã được Giáo Hội phong thánh. </span>
</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">

- Và cuối cùng chúng ta hân hoan và hãnh diện vì các Ngài là những người
đã trung thành với niểm tin và đã lấy đời mình làm </span><i>
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">
chứng nhân anh hùng cho niềm tin đó</span></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">

Đọc lại tiểu sử các Ngài ta </span><i>
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">
không khỏi không</span></i><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
cảm phục về đức tin kiên cường của các Ngài. Vì trung thành với Chúa,
các Ngài đã cam chịu thiệt thòi trong đời sống, mất hết chức quyền danh
vọng và nhất là phải chịu muôn ngàn khổ hình, có khi còn mất cả mạng
sống vì đức tin. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
Chúng ta hãy đọc lại sắc dụ cấm đạo được ban hành ngày 18-9-1855 để
chúng ta thấy được một phần nào những khổ hình mà các Ngài phải chịu:
"Các quan theo đạo Giatô tại triều đình Huế hạn cho một tháng phải bỏ
đạo. Các quan tỉnh thì ba tháng. Lính tráng và người dân thì sáu tháng,
bằng không thì phải kể là trọng phạm.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
Các người theo đạo Giatô không được thi cử, không được giữ chức tước gì.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
Ai đưa đường hay chứa chấp đạo trưởng thì bị xử tử. Đạo trưởngTây phương
thì chém đầu vất xác xuống sông. Các giáo đồ giúp các đạo trưởng thì
phải chém đầu.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
Các cụ đạo bản quốc cũng phải chém đầu. Các giáo đồ theo các cụ đạo này
thì phải thích chữ vào mặt và phát lưu.</span></p>

Phải đốt cho sạch các nhà thờ nhà xứ "</span></p>

Lịch sử còn ghi lại những </span><i>
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">
hình phạt</span></i><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
mà người ta đã nghĩ ra và đã dùng để trừng phạt những người theo đạo như
sau :</span></p>

nhất là bị gông cùm. Bị xiềng xích, bị nhốt trong cũi, bị đánh đòn, bị

một chút thì bị voi dầy, bị trói rồi bị ném xuống sông, bị chôn sống, bị
đổ dầu vào rốn rồi cho bấc vào mà đốt, bị đóng đinh vào ván rồi đem phơi
nắng cho đến chết.</span></p>

hơn một chút thì bị xử trảm, xử giảo (= bị thắt cổ) và thiêu sống.</span></p>

liệt nhất</span></i><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
là bị xử lăng trì (phân thây ra từng mảnh) hay bá đao ( bị xẻo đi từng
mảnh thịt cho tới chết)</span></p>

Tôi xin trích ra đây một đoạn trong bản báo cáo về việc xử Cha cố Du
theo kiểu bá đao tại Thợ Đức ngày 30-11-1835:</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
"Họ cột chân tay Ngài vào một cây cột. Hai bên lính cầm kìm chờ sẵn. Sau
hồi chuông báo hiệu, tên lính cầm kìm đã được nung đỏ kẹp vào ngực kéo
ra hai miếng thịt nơi vú liệng xuống đất. Tên khác cầm dao xẻo thịt phía
sau hông - rồi đến dùi thì chúng lấy kìm kéo thịt ra rồi dùng lưỡi dao
xẻo đứt từng miếng. Cha ngất đi, đầu rũ xuống và Ngài tắt hơi về chầu
Chúa lúc 17giờ.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
Cha chết rồi, lính chặt đầu Ngài cho vào một chiếc thùng đầy vôi....đoạn
họ cởi trói, lật úp xác xuống, phân thây ra từng khúc nhỏ bỏ vào thùng
vôi. Tiếp theo họ lấy đầu đầu của ngài treo giữa chợ ba ngày...rồi lấy
xuống nghiền nát ra, bỏ vào thùng đựng xác, rồi vất tất cả xuống biển
cho mất tích"</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
Vâng, kính thưa anh chị em.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
Gian khổ có cao, hình phạt có nặng nhưng lòng trung thành của các Ngài
còn còn cao còn lớn hơn. Cái chết của các Ngài thật đáng làm cho chúng
ta tự hào. Trong sắc phong chân phước cho 64 anh hùng tử đạo VN ngày
27-5-1900 Chính Đức Thánh Cha Léo XIII đã nói về các Ngài với tất cả
lòng khâm phục như sau: </span><i>
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; font-weight: normal">
"Đây là những chiến sĩ trung liệt và kiên cường không kém gì những chiến
sĩ ngày xưa vào những thế kỷ khai nguyên của Giáo Hội Chúa Kitô"</span></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; font-weight: normal">
Đó là chuyện cách đây hơn 300 năm. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
2. Chúng ta tự hỏi chúng ta có thể học tìm được một </span><i>
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">
bài học</span></i><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";
font-weight:normal"> nào từ những tấm gương hào hùng của cha ông chúng ta hay
không? <i> </i></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyTextIndent2" style="text-indent: 36px; margin-left: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal">
Ngày nay đâu còn cảnh cấm đạo, bắt đạo, giết người có đạo như thời vua
quan ngày xưa. </span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyTextIndent" style="text-indent: 36px; margin-left: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt">Nhưng để <b><i>sống đạo</i></b><i> </i>
trong xã hội hôm nay, quả thực chúng ta gặp không ít khó khăn. Xin kể ra
2 khó khăn tiêu biểu. </span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyTextIndent" style="text-indent: 36px; margin-left: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt">Khó khăn thứ nhất đó là <b><i>chủ nghĩa
cá nhân</i></b> ngày càng phát triển. Ai cũng muốn thăng tiến bản thân
và gia đình của mình. Ai cũng lo làm ăn, học hành, xây dựng cho bản
thân. Cuộc cạnh tranh ngày càng khốc liệt. Những nhu cầu của bản thân
càng ngày càng nhiều. Rõ ràng là ngày nay người ta kiếm được nhiều tiền
hơn trước, có nhiều tiện nghi hơn trước, xe cộ tốt hơn, nhà cửa đẹp hơn,
hưởng thụ nhiều hơn. </span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyTextIndent" style="text-indent: 36px; margin-left: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt">Báo Tuổi trẻ số Chúa nhật ngày 23-10-2005
có một bài Phóng sự nói về cuộc sống của những "Sinh viên "quí tộc"" Tôi
xin trích một đoạn nhỏ: "<span style="color:black">Khi tiếp cận được cậu
thanh niên mới hơn 20 tuổi này, Tuấn trả lời tôi một câu xanh rờn vì
tưởng là bạn học cùng lớp: “Trẻ không xông pha về già ân hận”! Hỏi: “Có
đêm ông tiêu hết 20 triệu hả?”. Tuấn nhả khói thuốc lạnh lùng bảo: “Độc
thuê sảnh khách sạn đã mất ngần ấy rồi ông ạ. Bữa nào khao nặng phải mất
hai cục (200 triệu)!”. “Ông chơi trội quá”, “Thiếu gì thằng như tôi, mỗi
thằng khao một buổi”! Vừa trả lời xong, Tuấn đã “bận” với chiếc điện
thoại O2: “Lại phải xuống Hải Phòng chơi với mấy thằng bạn”...</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyTextIndent" style="text-indent: 36px; margin-left: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt">Rõ ràng chủ nghĩa cá nhân hôm nay đã làm
cho con người<i> <b>không bao giờ</b> </i>thấy thỏa mãn, đầy đủ. Vì thế
càng ngày con người càng đóng kín vào bản thân, không có thời giờ để đến
nghĩ đến người khác. Một câu nói được coi như châm ngôn của một số người
<b><i><span style="color:black">“Ăn tranh thủ, ngủ khẩn trương, học bình
thường, chơi là chính</span></i><span style="color:black">”.</span></b><span style="color: black">..</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyTextIndent" style="text-indent: 36px; margin-left: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-top: 0cm; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt">Để lựa chọn sống theo Phúc Âm, để trung
thành với Lời Chúa dạy, chúng ta phải bỏ quên một phần thân mình, gia
đình mình để nghĩ đến, để giúp đỡ, để vực dậy những anh em kém may mắn.
Đó là điều không dễ. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
Khó khăn thứ hai là </span><i>
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">
kinh tế thị trường</span><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
</span></i>
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";
font-weight:normal">ngày càng phát triển. Đồng tiền đang trở thành một </span>
<i>
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">
thước đo</span><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; font-weight: normal">
</span>
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">
cho </span></i>
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";
font-weight:normal">mọi gía trị của con người. Đồng tiền đang trở thành một
</span><i>
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">
quyền lực</span></i><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";
font-weight:normal"> chi phối toàn bộ đời sống con người. Ai cũng muốn có thật
nhiều tiền, và để có nhiều tiền, nhiều người đã không từ chối một phương
tiện nào kể cả những phương tiện mà họ biết là bất chính như: lường gạt,
lừa đảo, làm hàng giả, buôn thuốc phiện, tham nhũng, hối lộ. Vụ Điện kế
điện tử trước đây ở Thành Phố Hồ Chí Minh chúng ta là một thí dụ. Tiền
bạc quả là một cơn cám dỗ đang làm chao đảo, đang tàn phá những gía trị
tốt đẹp, đang làm biến chất biết bao nhiêu con người trong cuộc sống hôm
nay.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
Đứng trước nhu cầu và ham mê tiền bạc, người Công Giáo muốn trung thành
với Phúc Âm, muốn sống trọn vẹn đức tin, bắt buộc phải có sự </span><i>
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">
lựa chọn</span></i><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";
font-weight:normal">. </span><i>
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">
Thà</span></i><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
cam chịu nghèo khổ còn hơn nhận những đồng tiền phi nhân bất nghĩa.
</span><i>

"Times New Roman","serif"">Thà</span></i><span style="font-size:14.0pt;
font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
cam chịu thiếu thốn còn hơn đánh mất đức tin. </span><i>
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">
Thà</span></i><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
lao động cực khổ để kiếm miếng cơm manh áo chân chính hơn là chạy theo
những đồng tiền dễ dãi để chối từ Phúc Âm và luật Chúa. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36px; margin-bottom: 8.0pt">
<span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal">
Quả thực xã hội mới đang tạo ra những thách đố, những cơn bắt bớ mới. Để
trung thành với Chúa, với Phúc Âm chúng ta cũng phải lựa chọn quyết
liệt. Những chọn lựa đó làm cho chúng ta </span><i>
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">

font-weight:normal"> không kém gì phải chịu thiêu thân, hay chịu cảnh bị đầu rơi
máu chảy. Các Thánh tử đạo chỉ chọn lựa một lần. Còn chúng ta chết mòn
mỏi mỗi ngày trong những chiến đấu, những từ bỏ đớn đau. Sống Phúc Âm
trong thời đại hôm nay quả không phải là dễ. Phải nói rằng đây đúng là
một cuộc tử đạo liên tục. Và sống vì đạo như thế cũng cao đẹp và cũng
anh hùng không kém gì chết vì đạo. Sống vì đạo như thế, chúng ta cũng
góp phần làm chứng nhân cho Chúa, cho Phúc Âm không kém gì chết vì đạo.
