Lễ Đức Giêsu chịu phép rửa hôm nay kết thúc mùa Giáng sinh và dẫn chúng
ta vào ngưỡng cửa đời sống công khai của Ngài. Lời Chúa trình bày Đức
Giêsu là Con yêu dấu của Chúa Cha, được Chúa Thánh Thần tấn phong làm
Messia – Đấng cứu thế – nhưng muốn liên đới với loài người tội lỗi. Đây
cũng là tấm gương cho chúng ta : chúng ta cũng đã chịu phép rửa trong
Chúa Thánh Thần, vậy chúng ta hãy cố gắng sống như những đứa con hiếu
thảo của Thiên Chúa và tham gia vào sứ mạng loan Tin Mừng của Đức Giêsu.</span></p>

- Người Tôi Tớ của Thiên Chúa là "ánh sáng của chư dân", làm cho muôn
dân biết rằng Thiên Chúa là Chúa duy nhất, đấng sáng tạo vũ trụ và sẵn
sàng cứu độ mọi người chứ không riêng gì người do thái.</span></p>

- Người Tôi Tớ của Thiên Chúa "sẽ xét xử chư dân", nghĩa là Ngài sẽ chấm
dứt sự đối đầu từ trước tới nay giữa Thiên Chúa của Israel với các thần
của các dân ngoại. Từ nay mọi người sẽ biết rằng chỉ có một Thiên Chúa
duy nhất, còn các thần của các dân ngoại chỉ là đồ hư vô.</span></p>

- Vì được Thánh Thần ngự trên mình, Người Tôi Tớ của Thiên Chúa là Đấng
mạnh mẽ và sẽ chiến thắng mọi kẻ thù. Nhưng Ngài không thích dùng bạo
lực, trái lại Ngài yêu thương cứu vớt những kẻ tội lỗi yếu đuối, "không
lớn tiếng", "không bẻ gãy cây lau bị dập, không dập tắt tim đèn còn leo
lét".</span></p>

Tv này ca tụng Thiên Chúa là chủ tế các quyền lực thiên nhiên như sóng
nước, thuỷ triều, sấm sét v.v. Hôm nay, tiếng của vị chủ tể thiên nhiên
ấy công nhận Đức Giêsu là Con yêu dấu của Ngài.</span></p>

Nhưng Gioan xác định ngay ông không phải. Mặc dù ông làm phép rửa nhưng
chỉ bằng nước ; Đấng Messia thật sẽ đến sau ông nhưng cao trọng hơn ông,
Ngài sẽ làm phép rửa trong Thánh Thần.</span></p>

- Phần sau (cc 21-22) : Đức Giêsu đến lãnh nhận phép rửa của Gioan. Đang
khi đó thì trời mở ra, Thánh Thần lấy hình chim câu ngự xuống trên Ngài
và có tiếng từ trời phán xuống " Con là Con của Cha. Ngày hôm nay Cha đã
sinh ra con".</span></p>

Bối cảnh : Được Chúa Thánh Thần thúc đẩy, Thánh Phêrô đã rửa tội cho ông
Cornêliô, một người rôma. Đây là một hành động có tính cách mạng vì từ
trước tới nay các tông đồ chưa từng nghĩ đến việc cho người không do
thái gia nhập Giáo Hội.</span></p>

Trong bài nói chuyện trước những người do thái, Thánh Phêrô đã giải
thích cho họ biết tại sao ông làm vậy : "Thiên Chúa không thiên tư tây
vị… ai kính sợ Ngài và thực thi công chính đều được Ngài đón nhận".
Phêrô còn chứng minh rằng chính Đức Giêsu đã theo đường lối ấy kể từ lúc
Ngài chịu phép rửa ở sông Giođan.</span></p>

Bài Tin Mừng hôm nay trình bày việc Đức Giêsu chịu phép rửa như một nghi
lễ tấn phong : đang khi Thánh Gioan tẩy giả dìm Đức Giêsu trong dòng
nước sông Giođan thì ở phía trên trời mở ra, có Chúa Thánh Thần lấy hình
chim câu đáp xuống, và có tiếng Chúa Cha từ trời long trọng công bố "Con
là con yêu dấu của Cha. Con đẹp lòng Cha". Theo tin tưởng của người do
thái, ngày một ông vua được tấn phong cũng là ngày ông được làm Con của
Thiên Chúa (thiên tử). Hôm nay Thiên Chúa công nhận Đức Giêsu là Con yêu
dấu của Ngài, tức là Thiên Chúa tấn phong Ngài làm Messia, Đấng cứu thế.</span></p>

Tuy nhiên nếu ta đọc kỹ bản văn Tin Mừng thì sẽ thấy Đấng cứu thế này có
vài nét đặc biệt không như người ta vẫn tưởng :</span></p>

- Thứ nhất : Ngài đang ở chung với những kẻ tội lỗi xếp hàng chờ được
Gioan Tẩy giả làm phép rửa. Như thế Đức Giêsu tuy là một Đấng cứu thế
nhưng không tách biệt với những kẻ phàm tục tội lỗi, mà lại hòa mình với
họ.</span></p>

- Thứ hai : tiếng Chúa Cha từ trời gọi Ngài là "Con yêu dấu". Đây là lặp
lại câu của Abraham ngày xưa nói với Isaac con yêu dấu của ông. Khi đó
Abraham đã già nhưng chỉ có mỗi một đứa con. Để thử lòng ông, Thiên Chúa
bảo ông phải đem Isaac đi giết để tế lễ cho Ngài. Abraham thương con lắm
nhưng phải vâng lời Thiên Chúa. Ông bảo Isaac vác một bó củi, phần ông
thì dấu một con dao trong áo. Hai cha con lên núi chọn chỗ tốt để tế lễ.
Isaac ngây thơ hỏi "Củi thì đã có sẵn nhưng lễ vật thì ở đâu ?" Câu hỏi
ngây thơ của đứa con làm cho lòng Abraham đau như cắt. Nhưng ông đáp
"Con yêu dấu ơi. Chúa sẽ lo liệu". Trong chuyện xưa, "con yêu dấu" là
cậu bé Isaac sắp bị giết chết làm lễ tế cho Thiên Chúa. Trong đoạn Tin
Mừng này, "Con yêu dấu" là chính Đức Giêsu. Ngài cũng sẽ giống như Isaac
xưa, sẽ bị giết chết để làm lễ tế dâng lên Thiên Chúa chuộc tội cho loài
người.</span></p>

Đức Giêsu làm gì mà khiến Chúa Cha hài lòng ? Lúc đó Đức Giêsu đang chịu
phép rửa bởi tay Gioan Tẩy giả trong dòng sông Giođan. Mà phép rửa của
Gioan là một nghi thức dành cho người tội lỗi để bày tỏ lòng sám hối.
Đức Giêsu không cần phải bày tỏ lòng sám hối bởi vì Ngài không có tội.
Vậy mà Ngài chịu phép rửa như một tội nhân. Ngài làm như thế là theo ý
muốn của Chúa Cha. Một người con không thể làm gì cho cha mình hài lòng
bằng làm theo ý Cha và đúng y như ý Cha muốn. Tóm lại Chúa Cha hài lòng
vì thấy Đức Giêsu làm theo ý mình, mặc dù làm như thế thì Đức Giêsu phải
hạ mình.</span></p>

bè thân thuộc. Nhưng mọi người đều đi qua, chẳng ai cho anh một xu.
Trong giây phút ấy, giống như những vảy cá trong mắt anh bỗng rơi xuống,

Đức Giêsu, đó là khi Ngài lãnh nhận phép Thanh tẩy. Trước đó Ngài sống
một cuộc sống tương đối bình lặng của một người thợ mộc làng Nadarét.
Nhưng khi nhận phép rửa, Ngài đã nghe một tiếng nói từ trời cao, gọi
Ngài làm một việc khác quan trọng hơn. Từ đó trở đi Ngài giã từ nếp sống
cũ, bắt đầu cuộc sống mới chuyên lo rao giảng Tin Mừng và cứu chữa mọi
người.</span></p>

thành môn đệ Đức Giêsu, chúng ta được mời gọi chiến đấu chống lại sự dữ

Phép Rửa hôm nay chỉ là khúc đạo đầu của bản trường ca Tình yêu. Để rồi
vì yêu thương, từ đây Con Thiên Chúa sẽ bị người đời liệt vào : "Tay ăn
nhậu, bạn bè với quân thu thế và phường tội lỗi" (Lc.7,34). Bị người nhà
coi là "kẻ mất trí". Bị xua đuổi ra khỏi thành. Bị lên án như một tội
nhân. Và bị chết treo giữa những tên trộm cướp. Đến nỗi thánh Phaolô đã
phải thốt lên : "Đấng chẳng hề biết tội là gì thì Thiên Chúa đã làm cho
Người thành tội vì chúng ta".</span></p>

Qua Bí tích Rửa tội, chúng ta đã trở nên các Kitô hữu, "Con cái yêu dấu"
của Thiên Chúa. Chúng ta cũng được mời gọi đi loan báo Tin Vui cứu độ,
rằng Thiên Chúa yêu thương con người. Chúng ta được mời gọi đặc biệt để
mang Tình yêu Chúa đến cho những người cùng khổ, những người bị bỏ rơi,
bị khinh miệt, bị sa ngã trong tội. Martin Luther King có nói : "Hãy yêu
thương mọi người đừng vì thiện cảm ; cũng không vì cách sống của họ dễ
mến, dễ thương. Nhưng vì chính Thiên Chúa ở trong họ". Nếu chúng ta chờ
cho họ trở nên đáng yêu rồi mới yêu họ, chúng ta sẽ phải chờ suốt đời.
Chính khi được yêu mà họ sẽ trở nên đáng yêu.</span></p>

cách người ta đối xử với những người "không nên đụng tới", tức là những
người không được xếp vào giai cấp nào cả trong xã hội : họ không được
vào các đền thờ ; nếu sống ở thành thị, họ bị buộc phải ở trong những
khu ổ chuột ; nếu sống ở thôn quê, họ bị cấm không cho sử dụng những
giếng nước công cộng ; về việc làm, họ chỉ được làm những việc thấp hèn
với đồng lương rất thấp.</span></p>
