"Cha kính mến, trong bài viết của cha trên Zenit ngày 26-8-2014, cha đã
có cuộc thảo luận tốt liên quan đến việc làm dấu kép trước bài Tin Mừng.
Cha đã nói rằng sự đưa thêm, vào Qui chế Tổng quát Sách lễ Rôma (GIRM)
năm 2002, việc các tín hữu làm dấu kép trước bài Tin Mừng là một điểm
mới của ấn bản thứ ba của Sách lễ Rôma. Điều này là đúng vì Qui chế Tổng
quát Sách lễ Rôma có nói như thế, nhưng lý do tại sao nó được đưa vào
Qui chế Tổng quát Sách lễ Rôma trong ấn bản thứ ba của Sách lễ Rôma, là
bởi vì trước đó nó đã được vào Sách Lễ nghi Giám mục (Caeremoniale
Episcoporum), số 74. Xin đọc:<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">

"Thầy Phó tế đứng ở giảng đài, quay mặt về phía dân chúng, tay chắp,
chào dân chúng xong, thầy lấy ngón cái tay phải ghi dấu Thánh Giá vào
sách ở chỗ đầu bài Tin Mừng thầy sắp đọc, rồi ghi dấu Thánh Giá vào mình
ở trán, ở miệng và ngực, miệng đọc: “Tin Mừng Chúa Gêsu Kitô theo
thánh...». Giám Mục và mọi người cũng ghi dấu Thánh Giá trên mình như
vậy ở trán, ở miệng và ở ngực. Sau đó, ít nhất trong Thánh Lễ đại triều,
thầy Phó tế xông hương Tin Mừng ba lần, tức là ở giữa, ở bên trái và ở
bên phải. Đoạn thầy đọc Tin Mừng cho đến hết » (bản dịch Việt ngữ của Ủy

Một bạn đọc ở Dublin, Ireland, hỏi: "Cũng trong các cử chỉ ở bài Tin
Mừng, tại sao phó tế hay linh mục (nếu không có phó tế ở đó) trước khi
đọc Tin Mừng, không dang tay của mình khi đọc lời chào: “Chúa ở cùng anh
chị em”, như ngài làm trong các phần khác của Thánh lễ? Hình như thật là
tự nhiên để dang tay như vậy!".</span></i><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; margin: 0px; padding: 0px"><br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">

<b style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">Đáp:</b><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Như
đã thấy trong lời trích trên đây từ Sách Lễ nghi Giám mục, chữ đỏ nói rõ
ràng rằng ngài không nên làm như vậy, tức là không dang tay khi chào
cộng đoàn. Tuy nhiên, các lý do lịch sử và phụng vụ là không rõ ràng.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">

Phần tôi, tôi đưa ra lý do cá nhân như sau.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">

Trước tiên, trong nghi lễ Latinh, việc dang tay và khép tay lại là một
cử chỉ chỉ dành cho vị chủ tọa. Do đó, trong Thánh lễ, phó tế không hề
dang tay hoặc khép tay lại - không dang tay trước khi đọc Tin Mừng,
không dang tay khi nói lời chúc bình an, và khi giải tán cuối lễ. Phó tế
có thể dùng cử chỉ này, khi thầy chủ tọa buổi cử hành, nếu vắng linh
mục.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">

Thứ hai, phù hợp với truyền thống phụng vụ Rôma, việc đọc bài Tin Mừng
không hề được dành cho vị chủ sự Thánh lễ. Nếu có mặt một phó tế, thầy
sẽ đọc Tin Mừng. Trong một thánh lễ đồng tế, một vị đồng tế đọc bài Tin
Mừng, ngay cả khi vị chủ tế sẽ giảng. Chỉ khi không có các thừa tác viên
khác, linh mục chủ sự mới đọc bài Tin Mừng.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">

Do đó, bởi vì việc đọc bài Tin Mừng không phải là một cử chỉ chủ tọa,
lời chào "Chúa ở cùng anh chị em” trước bài Tin Mừng không phải là một
lời chào chủ tọa, và vì vậy cử chỉ dang tay và khép tay được bỏ qua.
Điều này cũng là đúng, ngay cả trong các trường hợp, mà thừa tác viên
đọc Tin Mừng cũng chính là vị chủ tế.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px">
