Khi tiếng súng của thế chiến thứ hai ngừng lại, thì tại một xứ
đạo miền quê Ba-Lan xảy ra một điều đáng ghi nhớ như sau :</span></i></p>

Có một đơn vị quân đội đồng minh đóng tại một ngôi làng Công Giáo ở Ba-Lan.
Trong suốt thời gian ở tại ngôi làng xứ đạo nầy, đơn vị được giáo dân quí
mến và tận tình giúp đỡ. Chiến tranh kết thúc. Đơn vị chuẩn bị hồi hương. Để
đáp lại mối thịnh tình của dân làng, và cũng để lưu lại kỷ niệm của một thời
khói lửa, đơn vị quyết định xây cho xứ đạo một tượng đài Chúa Giê-su, để
thay thế cho tượng đài cũ đã bị bom đạn chiến tranh phá huỷ. Để tạo một bất
ngờ cho cộng đoàn giáo dân, nên công việc xây dựng tượng đài được tiến hành
trong âm thầm bí mật. Đến ngày khánh thành tượng đài, cũng là ngày đơn vị từ
giả để lên đường, toàn thể giáo dân được mời đến đông đũ để dự lễ khánh
thành và tiếp nhận tượng đài. Người ta chỉ thấy có một đống đồ sộ được phủ
bạt kín. Sau những lời khai mạc, người sĩ quan đơn vị trưởng ra lệnh cất tấm
bạt che. Một tượng đài Chúa Giê-su cao lớn, uy nghiêm xuất hiện. Tất cả mọi
người ngạc nhiên đến sững sờ; và điều làm mọi người ngạc nhiên nhất lại là
bức tượng không có hai cánh tay!</span></i></p>

Tuy nhiên, sau khi đọc dòng chữ ghi dưới chân pho tượng, mọi người mới nhận
ra ngụ ý thâm thuý của những người thiết dựng tượng đài. Hàng chữ đó là :</span></i></p>

"Hàng chữ" đó hôm nay sẽ đưa chúng ta đi vào một câu chuyện, đúng hơn, một
lời mời gọi, môt cách sống mà chính Đức Ki-tô đã thực hiện, đã trân trọng,
đã cử hành như một "bí tích", "BÍ TÍCH PHỤC VỤ". Để cảm nhận sâu sắc điều
nầy, chúng ta hãy cùng ngược dòng thời gian trở về với "Bữa Tiệc Ly trong
đêm Chúa bị nộp" cách đây hai ngàn năm trước :</span></i></p>

Trước lễ Vượt Qua, Đức Giê-su biết giờ của Người đã đến, giờ phải bỏ thế
gian mà về với Chúa Cha. Người vẫn yêu thương những kẻ thuộc về mình còn ở
thế gian,và Người yêu thương họ đến cùng….nên bấy giờ Người đứng dậy, rời
bàn ăn, cởi áo ngoài ra,và lấy khăn mà thát lưng. Rồi Đức Giê-su đổ nước vào
chậu, bắt đầu rửa chân cho các môn đệ và lấy khăn thắt lưng mà lau (…) Khi
rửa chân cho các môn đệ xong, Đức Giê-su mặc áo vào, về chỗ và nói :"Anh em
có hiểu việc Thầy mới làm cho anh em không ? Anh em gọi Thầy là "Thầy", là
"Chúa", điều đó phải lắm, vì quả thật, Thầy là Thầy, là Chúa. Vậy, nếu Thầy
là Chúa, là Thầy, mà còn rủa chân cho anh em, thì anh em cũng phải rửa chân
cho nhau. Thầy nêu gương cho anh em, để anh em cũng làm như thầy đã làm cho
anh em."(Ga 13,1-15).</span></i></p>

I. Đức Ki-tô rửa chân cho con người.</span></i></p>

* Một mặc khải về tình yêu phục vụ của Thiên Chúa :</span></i></p>

Là Ki-tô hữu, chúng ta đều có chung một niềm xác tín : tất cả
mọi hành vi của Chúa Giê-su đều có giá trị cứu độ và mặc khải. Chiều kích
"cứu độ và mặc khải" đó đã nổi bật lên một cách khác thường, đặc biệt trong
"đêm Ngài bị nộp", đến nổi đã trở thành một "dấu chỉ vĩ đại", một "bí tích
cao cả" :Bí tích Thánh Thể. Cả ba Tin Mừng Mt., Mc., Lc. đều thuật lại sự
kiện "hi hửu" nầy. Trong khi đó Tin Mừng Gioan chỉ nhắt thoáng qua nhưng
lại chú trọng đến một sự kiện khác không có trong Tin Mừng Nhất lãm : Rửa
chân, những tâm sự sau cùng và lời nguyện tế hiến (x. Ga 13-17). Là một
người được mệnh danh là "Le voyant" (nhìn thấy, nhận biết cách sâu xa, tức
thời), chắc chắn Thánh Gioan đã nhìn thấy trong nghĩa cử "rửa chân" của Chúa
Giê-su một dấu chỉ, một mặc khải đặc biệt : Mặc khải về "tình- yêu- phục-
vụ" của Thiên Chúa.</span></i></p>

Tuy nhiên, chúng ta hãy nhớ rằng, từ xa xưa trong cựu ước, qua
lịch sử dân Ít-ra-en, Thiên Chúa đã mặc khải tình yêu và sự phục vụ của Ngài
dành cho con người :</span></i></p>

"Có phụ nữ nào quên được đứa con thơ của mình, hay chẳng thương đứa con mình
đã mang nặng đẻ đau ? Cho dù nó có quên đi nữa, thì Ta, Ta cũng chẳng quên
ngươi bao giờ. Hãy xem, Ta đã ghi khắc ngươi trong lòng bàn tay Ta…" (Í 49,
15-16).</span></i></p>

Để biểu lộ "tình thương phục vụ" của Ngài, Thiên chúa qua mặc
khải cựu ước đã làm nên "những kỳ công vĩ đại". Chính vì thế, chân dung của
Thiên Chúa trong cựu ước còn mang hình ảnh một "Thiên Chúa cao cả trên các
tầng mây", một "Thiên Chúa cách biệt" con người không thể đối diện, gặp gỡ
trong thân mật, gần gũi.</span></i></p>

Với Đức Giê-su-Ki-tô, Vị "Thiên Chúa-làm người", Thiên Chúa đã
đích thân hạ cố đến ở giữa con người để phục vụ con người như một tôi tớ :</span></i></p>

ngồi ăn chứ ?Thế mà, Thầy đây, Thầy sống giữa anh em như một người phục vụ"
(Lc 22, 27; x. Ga 13, 12-15).</span></i></p>

- Ở thành Na-im, ở Bê-ta-ni-a : Người phục vụ người mẹ già mất con, những
người chị mất em; và đã đem lại sự sống thay cái chết, nụ cuời thay dòng
lệ...</span></i></p>

- Ở trên mọi nẽo đường xứ Pa-lét -ti-na, Ngài phục vụ những kẻ mù, què, đui,
điếc, những con người bất toại, những kẻ phung cùi bị người đời xa lánh,
những mụ đàn bà loạn huyết, những tên bị quỉ nhập, …bằng cách trả lại cho họ
sức khỏe và hy vọng, niềm vui và an bình hạnh phúc được sống như con cái
trong gia đình của Thiên Chúa.</span></i></p>

con người ! Đồng thời Người mặc khải ý nghĩa của đời sống ki-tô giáo và của
đời thánh hiến cách riêng, là một đời sống của tình yêu dâng hiến, của phục
vụ cụ thể và quảng đại. Trong khi bước theo Con Người, là Đấng "đến không
phải để được phục vụ, nhưng là để phục vụ" (Mt 20, 28), đời thánh hiến, ít
ra vào những thời kỳ tốt đẹp nhất trong dòng lịch sử đã mang đặc tính của
"việc rửa chân" nầy, nghĩa là của công tác phục vụ ưu tiên dành cho những
người bất hạnh và cùng khổ nhất. Nếu, một đàng, đời thánh hiến chiêm ngắm
mầu nhiệm cao cả của Ngôi Lời trong cung lòng Chúa Cha (x. Ga 1, 1), thì
đàng khác, đời thánh hiến đi theo Ngôi Lời xuống thế làm người (x. Ga 1,
14), hạ mình, khiêm tốn phục vụ mọi người. Cả đến ngày hôm nay, những ai
bước theo Chúa Ki-tô trong con đường các lời khuyên Phúc âm, đều muốn đi đến

"nghèo" mà Giáo Hội đề cập ở trên chỉ có ở "giữa chợ đời" chứ không hề hiện
diện trong bốn bức tường tu viện, không hề có nơi cộng đoàn chúng ta đang
chung sống. Cũng vì ý nghĩ đó mà có biết bao cộng đoàn "khôn chợ dại nhà";
đi ra ngoài làm việc mục vụ thì rất thành công; nhưng cuộc sống cộng đoàn
với nhau thì triền miên căng thẳng và chịu đựng; các mối tương quan "bề
trên-bề dưới-bề ngang" không được điều hợp và chi phối bởi Đức Ái nhưng lại
nhường bước cho một thứ "quyền bính bệnh hoạn, ứng xử giả hình và sợ hải
thiếu trưởng thành". Sống bác ái và phục vụ trong đời sống cộng đoàn rất cần
thiết trong việc thăng tiến nhân cách và ơn gọi. Biết bao người đã bỏ cuộc,
đã chán nản vì cảm thấy mình không được ai yêu thương, thông cảm, nâng đỡ;
nhất là trong những lúc cô độc, buồn tủi, bịnh hoạn, lỗi lầm…</span></i></p>

yêu". Vâng, cái tội "quên sót" lớn nhất và nhiều nhất của chúng ta chắc chắn
là tội "không phục vụ, không yêu thương anh chị em chung quanh"; và chúng ta
cũng đừng quên rằng : những việc phục vụ, cho dù nhỏ bé, âm thầm, ẩn khuất,
tăm tối…nếu "mang địa chỉ tình yêu" sẽ trở thành vĩ đại, giá trị tuyệt vời.
Tê-rê-sa Hài Đồng Giê-su, vị Đại Thánh Tiến sĩ, đã nên thánh bằng con đường
"phục vụ, yêu thương" như thế.</span></i></p>
