Qua lời rao giảng của mình, ông Gio-an đã từng loan báo về Đấng Cứu Thế
sẽ đến như là vị thẩm phán uy nghi đáng sợ; Ngài đến để xét xử và trừng
trị nghiêm khắc những lỗi phạm của con người. Ông gióng lên những lời
răn đe nẩy lửa: “Chiếc rìu đã kề sẵn gốc cây, cây nào không sinh trái sẽ
bị chặt đi và quăng vào lửa… Ngài cầm nia trong tay mà sẩy sân lúa của
Ngài, lúa tốt thì cho vào kho, còn lúa lép thì đốt đi trong lửa không hề
tắt.” (Mt 3, 10. 12)</span></p>

Vậy mà từ bấy lâu nay, Gio-an chưa từng thấy Chúa Giê-su trừng phạt bất
cứ tội nhân nào; chưa thấy Ngài kê “rìu” để đốn hạ những “cây không sinh
trái”; chưa từng thấy Ngài loại trừ phường gian ác như những thứ “lúa
lép” và “thiêu đốt họ trong lửa không hề tắt”...</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36.0pt; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 6.0pt">

Ngoài ra, theo như mong đợi của dân Do-thái, khi Đấng Cứu Thế đến, Ngài
sẽ tiêu diệt quân thù, giải thoát những ai bị giam cầm tù tội… Vậy mà
Chúa Giê-su đâu có đánh đuổi quân xâm lược Rô-ma, chưa thấy Ngài giải
thoát kẻ bị xiềng xích tù đày… </span></p>

Thế nên Gioan phái các môn đệ đến gặp và hỏi thẳng Chúa Giê-su: “Thưa
Thầy, Thầy có thật là Đấng phải đến không, hay là chúng tôi còn phải đợi
ai khác?”</span></p>

Trước câu hỏi của Gioan, Chúa Giê-su không dùng lời nói nhưng dùng chính
việc làm để minh chứng về mình, như có lần Ngài đã nói: “Công việc tôi
làm nhân danh Cha tôi làm chứng về tôi (Gio-an 5, 36). </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36.0pt; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 6.0pt">
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">Vì
thế, Chúa Giê-su chỉ cho các môn đệ của Gio-an thấy những việc Ngài đang
làm và bảo họ: “Các anh cứ về thuật lại cho ông Gio-an những điều mắt
thấy tai nghe: Người mù xem thấy, kẻ què được đi, người cùi được sạch,
kẻ điếc được nghe, người chết sống lại, kẻ nghèo được nghe Tin Mừng...”

ngàn xưa, Ngôn Sứ I-sa-i-a đã tiên báo rằng khi Đấng Thiên Sai đến, Ngài
sẽ cho “người mù được thấy, người điếc được nghe, người què sẽ nhảy như
nai…” (Is 35,10…)</span></p>

Gio-an là người am hiểu lời các lời ngôn sứ tiên báo về Đấng Thiên sai
và thấy rằng Chúa Giê-su đã thực hiện đúng như lời ngôn sứ I-sa-i-a đã
tiên báo như trích dẫn trên đây, tất nhiên Gio-an biết rằng Đức Giê-su
chính là Đấng Thiên Sai mà ngôn sứ I-sa-i-a đã loan báo. </span></p>

Như vậy, chính việc làm của Chúa Giê-su minh chứng cho biết Ngài là Đấng
cứu thế. </span></p>

Hôm nay, người đời cũng thường chất vấn chúng ta như xưa kia, môn đệ của
Gio-an đã từng chất vấn Chúa Giê-su. Họ hỏi chúng ta: “Bạn có phải là
môn đệ của Chúa Giê-su không?” </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36.0pt; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 6.0pt">

Trước câu hỏi nầy, chúng ta không thể đáp gọn: “Phải, tôi chính là môn
đệ của Thầy Giê-su”, vì một câu trả lời suông mà chẳng dựa trên cơ sở
nào cả thì chẳng thuyết phục được ai.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 36.0pt; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 6.0pt">
<span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">
Người khôn ngoan và thận trọng không dễ tin vào lời tự khẳng định của
người khác nhưng căn cứ vào việc làm. Chính việc làm của từng người sẽ
chứng tỏ cho người khác biết bản chất của người đó. </span></p>

Thế thì, trước câu hỏi: “Bạn có phải là môn đệ của Chúa Giê-su không”,
chúng ta cần </span>

để đáp lại như sau: “Các bạn hãy xem công việc tôi làm… Các bạn cứ nhìn
vào lối sống của tôi thì biết… </span></p>

Đúng vậy, chỉ có nếp sống yêu thương, phục vụ, hy sinh của các Ki-tô
hữu mới chứng tỏ cho mọi người thấy họ thực sự là môn đệ của Chúa
Giê-su, như Lời Ngài dạy: “Người ta cứ dấu nầy mà nhận biết các con là
môn đệ Thầy, là các con yêu thương nhau.” (Gio-an 13, 35)</span></p>

Xin cho chúng con biết sống thế nào để cho việc làm của chúng con không
tố cáo chúng con là người môn đệ giả, nhưng luôn minh chứng cách thuyết
phục rằng chúng con đích thực là môn đệ chân chính của Chúa. Amen.</span></p>

Thế thì anh em ra xem gì? Một người mặc gấm vóc lụa là chăng? Kìa những

Thế thì anh em ra xem gì? Một vị ngôn sứ chăng? Đúng thế đó; mà tôi nói

Chính ông là người Kinh Thánh đã nói tới khi chép rằng: Này Ta sai sứ
giả của Ta đi trước mặt Con, người sẽ dọn đường cho Con đến.</span></p>
