tâm hồn sự đàn áp, cử chỉ đe dọa và những lời nói hiểm độc;
khi ngươi hết lòng quảng đại với người đói khát, làm cho tâm
hồn đau khổ được thư thái, thì sự sáng của ngươi xuất hiện
trong tối tăm và tối tăm sẽ trở nên như giữa ban ngày. Và

quan thuế tên là Lêvi đang ngồi ở bàn thu thuế, Ngài bảo
ông: "Hãy đi theo Ta". Ông liền bỏ mọi sự đứng dậy theo
Người. Lêvi đã dọn một bữa tiệc linh đình thết đãi Người tại
nhà ông. Có đông người thu thuế và nhiều người khác cùng
ngồi ăn với các ngài. Những người biệt phái và các luật sĩ
của họ lẩm bẩm với các môn đệ của Người rằng: "Sao các người
lại ăn uống với những người thu thuế và tội lỗi như vậy?"
Chúa Giêsu trả lời họ rằng: "Những ai mạnh khoẻ không cần
tới thầy thuốc, chỉ những người đau yếu mới cần thôi. Ta đến
không phải để kêu mời người công chính, nhưng để gọi kẻ tội
lỗi ăn năn hối cải".</font></p>

<font face="Arial"><strong>Suy niệm:</strong> Người Do thái
coi những nhân viên thuế vụ là người gian dối, thậm chí là
phản quốc vì họ cộng tác với người Rô-ma và sách nhiễu đồng
bào. Nhiều chỗ trong Phúc Âm cho thấy họ bị liệt vào hạng
người bị loại trừ khỏi xã hội, đồng sàng với hạng ‘gái điếm’
và ‘ngoại giáo’ (Mt 9,10; 11,19; 18,17; 21,31). Ai giao du
với họ cũng bị coi là ‘dơ bẩn’. Thế nhưng, Chúa Giê-su không
ngại tiếp xúc với họ. Thậm chí Chúa còn kêu gọi ông Lê-vi,
một quan chức ngành thuế, và chọn ông làm tông đồ của Ngài.
Chưa hết Ngài còn đến dùng bữa tại nhà ông cùng với nhiều
đồng bạn của ông Lê-vi. Quả thực <em>“cái nhìn đầy yêu
thương của Chúa đã giải thoát Lê-vi khỏi ách nô lệ bạc
tiền” </em>và biến đổi ông thành tông đồ Mát-thêu của Đức
Ki-tô.</font></p>

Đức Ki-tô, chúng ta lại thường giam hãm người khác trong
ngục tù của cái nhìn thành kiến. Chính bạn cũng hãy đặt mình
trước cái nhìn yêu thương của Chúa và nhìn người khác bằng
cái nhìn của Chúa. Đó là cái nhìn bao dung, tha thứ, biết
khám phá ưu điểm của người khác và tin tưởng điều tốt đẹp
nơi họ và trợ giúp họ thể hiện điều tốt đẹp đó.</font></p>
