Kính cha Ngày nhậm chức của Tân Tổng Thống Obama, con thấy có 1
chi tiết hết sức thú vị và được báo đài, internet truyền tải là
" Tân Tổng Thống đặt tay trên Kinh Thánh để tuyên thệ" Thưa cha,
vì sao Hoa kỳ lại có nghi thức này, nó mang y nghĩa gì và có từ
bao giờ, nguồn gốc của nó như thế nào? Con xem tin này, con thấy
giống hệt nghi thức nhận chức Linh mục chánh xứ của Giáo Hội. Nó
có liên hệ gì không thưa Cha. Xin Cha vui lòng giải thích để

Việc một tổng thống Hoa Kỳ phải tuyên thệ trước khi chính thức
nhậm chức Tổng Thống được qui định theo Hiến Pháp Hoa Kỳ như sau:</span><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 18.75pt; line-height: 120%">

Luật cũng không bắt buộc phải có sách Kinh Thánh khi tuyên thệ,
nhưng như một tục lệ đáng khen, hầu hết các tổng thống (từ Tổng
Thống Washington ngày 30 tháng 4 năm 1789 tới TT. Obama ngày 20
tháng 1 năm 2009) đều dùng Sách Kinh Thánh để tuyên thệ. Riêng
Tổng Thống Theodore Roosevelt khi tuyên thệ nhậm chức năm 1901
đã không dùng Sách Kinh Thánh.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 18.75pt; line-height: 120%">

Nghi thức này không có liên hệ gì tới nghi thức nhậm chức của
