Acolyte hay Thừa Tác Vụ Giúp Lễ là một trong những thừa tác vụ
mà một người giáo dân (nam giới) được lãnh nhận <i>(xem Gíao
Luật c. 230)</i>. Đây chỉ là một <u>tác vụ chứ không phải một
chức thánh</u> nên không được gọi là “chịu chức” mà chỉ là “lãnh
nhận”. Một người khi đang mắc vạ tuyệt thông thì không được
lãnh nhận và thi hành bất cứ thừa tác vụ nào trong Giáo Hội <i>(xem
Giáo Luật c. 1331).</i></span></p>

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif">
Ai thi hành việc phá thai, và việc phá thai có kết quả, sẽ mắc
vạ tuyệt thông tiền kết <i>(xem Giáo Luật c. 1398)</i>. Nhưng để
bị mắc vạ này còn có nhiều điều kiện khác nữa, như tuổi tác và
các hoàn cảnh liên quan. Trong trường hợp của Anh, nếu việc phá
thai đã được tha thứ một cách hợp pháp thì việc lãnh nhận và thi
hành thừa tác vụ giúp lễ không có gì ngăn trở.</span></td>
