điều về Mẹ Đồng Trinh là một điểm tín lý về Đức Trinh Nữ Maria
với vai trò là Mẹ Chúa Kitô, Đấng Cứu Thế. Tuyên bố, xác quyết
sự đồng trinh của Đức Mẹ Maria không có dụng ý chỉ đề cao một cá
nhân nhưng là tuyên xưng một công cuộc lạ lùng mà Thiên Chúa
thực hiện trong việc cứu chuộc loài người, có liên hệ tới mọi
người. Ngôi Hai Thiên Chúa Nhập Thể trong lòng Mẹ Maria là công
cuộc của Chúa Thánh Thần - chịu thai bởi phép Chúa Thánh Thần -
do đó không có sự can thiệp của một người nam nào khác. Thiên
Chúa muốn biểu dương quyền năng tuyệt đối của Ngài trong công
cuộc này. Chính trong việc Nhập Thể của Ngôi Hai Thiên Chúa đã
mạc khải một cuộc "nhiệm hôn" giữa Thiên Chúa và loài người. Do
đó, các cuộc hôn nhân khác phải rút ra ý nghĩa, giá trị và mẫu
mực từ cuộc "nhiệm hôn" này. Vậy, tín điều về Mẹ Trọn Đời Đồng
Trinh không làm suy giảm phẩm tính, giá trị, và ý nghĩa của đời
sống hôn nhân, trái lại, là một thách đố cho các cặp vợ chồng
phải sống trung thủy trọn đời với nhau để phản ảnh tình yêu
Thiên Chúa yêu nhân loại và tình yêu Chúa Kitô đối với Giáo Hội.</font></span></td>
