Theo qui định ngày xưa về việc viếng nhà thờ thì có thể có
truyện đó vì trước đây Giáo Hội cho người tín hữu có thể lãnh
nhận nhiều ơn đại xá một ngày. Nếu ai muốn lãnh nhận nhiều ơn
đại xá thì phải thực hiện nhiều lần những việc có kèm theo ơn
đại xá. Ngày nay, mỗi ngày một tín hữu chỉ có thể lãnh nhận một
ơn đại xá mà thôi (trừ ngày chết – trước giờ chết được lãnh một
ơn đại xá nữa dù đã lãnh một đại xá rồi). Việc viếng nhà thờ
cũng nên phân biệt rõ ràng khác với những việc khác, do đó, để
hợp lý phải ra khỏi nhà thờ, chấm dứt một lần viếng thăm và rồi
mới làm lại lần khác.</font></span></p></td>
