nguyện là một ơn phúc (ân sủng của Thiên Chúa) và cũng là một sự
đáp lại của chúng ta, đòi hỏi nỗ lực của con người để có thể
vượt thắng được những khó khăn trong chính việc cầu nguyện. Sách
Giáo Lý Giáo Hội Công Giáo đã đề cập đến "cuộc chiến đấu của
việc cầu nguyện" (GLCG 1725-1745). Một trong những sự khó khăn
hàng đầu của việc cầu nguyện là sự chia trí hay lo ra. "Việc
phải làm là chúng ta hãy trở về với lòng mình: một sự lo ra
thường cho ta thấy ta gắn bó với cái gì. Và sự khiêm nhường nhận
thức trước mặt Chúa như thế sẽ thúc giục ta hãy yêu mến Ngài
trên hết mọi sự, hiến dâng tâm hồn ta cho Chúa để Ngài thanh tẩy
nó. Đó là chỗ diễn ra cuộc chiến đấu, diễn ra sự chọn lựa Ông
Chủ mà ta muốn phục vụ" (GLCG 2729). Ta có thể bắt chước Thánh
Nữ Têrêsa Hài Đồng: nói với Chúa về những truyện ta "lo ra", cầu
nguyện cho những người ta tưởng nghĩ tới. Chúng ta nên bình tĩnh
và nhẹ nhàng chống trả chứ đừng tức tối hay bất nhẫn, không mang
lại lợi ích gì.</font></span></td>
