Trong đạo Công giáo có 7 bí tích và một số bí tích trong những
bí tích ấy người tín hữu chỉ có thể chịu một lần mà thôi. Những
bí tích không được “chịu lại” là Phép Rửa Tội, Thêm Sức, Truyền
Chứa Thánh. Ngoài ra, các bí tích khác <i>(Thánh Thể, Hòa Giải,
Xức Dầu, và Hôn Phối)</i> đều có thể được chịu lại khi có đủ
điều kiện. Bí tích Hôn Phối chỉ được lãnh nhận khi đương sự
không bị ngăn trở theo Giáo Luật cũng như Luật Chúa. Trong
trường hợp của anh, vì vợ đã chết rồi anh không còn bị ràng
buộc với hôn nhân trước nữa, anh có thể cưới vợ khác và lãnh
nhận bí tích Hôn Phối.</span></font></p></td>
