<font face="Times New Roman">Người đỡ đầu trong Bí Tích Thêm Sức
cũng quan trọng không kém gì người đỡ đầu trong Bí Tích Thánh
Tẩy. Giáo Lý Giáo Hội Công Giáo dạy rằng: "Đối với phép Thêm
Sức cũng như đối với phép Thánh Tẩy, các ứng viên nên tìm kiếm
sự giúp đỡ tinh thần của một cha hoặc mẹ đỡ đầu. Nên giữ nguyên
cha hoặc mẹ đã đỡ đầu cho mình khi lãnh nhận phép Thánh Tẩy, để
nêu rõ tính thống nhất của hai bí tích này" (GLCG 1311).</font></span></p>

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-style: italic"><b>Ðiều 892:</b>
Trong tầm mức có thể, người lãnh Bí Tích Thêm Sức cần có một
người đỡ đầu. Bổn phận của người này là lo giúp người chịu Bí
Tích Thêm Sức sống như nhân chứng đích thực của Chúa Kitô và
trung kiên chu toàn những bổn phận gắn liền với Bí Tích Thêm
Sức.</span></font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-style: italic">
<font face="Times New Roman">Những người đỡ đầu phải có những
điều kiện sau:</font></span></p>
<p style="line-height: normal; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-style: italic">
<font face="Times New Roman">1. phải được chọn lựa bởi chính ứng
viên hay cha mẹ của đương sự hoặc người thế quyền cha mẹ; nếu
không có cha mẹ và người thế quyền thì Cha Sở sẽ chọn lựa. Người
được chọn phải có khả năng và chủ ý thi hành nhiệm vụ đỡ đầu;</font></span></p>
<p style="line-height: normal; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-style: italic">
<font face="Times New Roman">2. đã được mười sáu tuổi trọn, trừ
khi Giám Mục giáo phận ấn định tuổi khác, hoặc Cha Sở hay thừa
tác viên thấy có thể nhận một ngoại lệ vì lý do chính đáng;</font></span></p>
<p style="line-height: normal; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-style: italic">
<font face="Times New Roman">3. phải là người Công giáo, đã chịu
Bí Tích Thêm Sức và Bí Tích Mình Thánh, lại có đời sống xứng hợp
với Ðức Tin và chức vụ sắp lãnh nhận;</font></span></p>
<p style="line-height: normal; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-style: italic">
<font face="Times New Roman">4. không mắc một hình phạt giáo
luật đã được tuyên kết và tuyên bố hợp lệ;</font></span></p>

<font face="Times New Roman">5. không phải là cha hay mẹ của ứng
