Con chào Cha! Con có quen một anh người công giáo, muốn kết hôn với một
chị lương dân. Chị đã có con nhưng con không biết chị đã kết hôn chưa.
Trường hợp chị chưa kết hôn theo luật dân sự, thì chị ấy có được kết hôn
với anh người công giáo không (có phép chuẩn)? Trường hợp chị muốn kết
hôn mà không theo đạo công giáo thì sao? Con xin Cha giải thích thêm.

Nếu chị đã kết hôn theo luật dân sự, thì bạn của anh không thể kết hôn với
chị ấy, cho dầu chị ấy có ly dị.</span></p>

Bởi Hôn nhân là một định chế cho chính Thiên Chúa thiết lập, Giáo Hội luôn
tôn trọng bản chất của hôn nhân, mặc dầu hôn nhân đó chưa là bí tích. Và
cũng không một Đấng bản quyền nào có thể cho phép chuẩn hôn phối để bạn anh
kết hôn với chị ấy. </span></p>

Duy chỉ có một trường hợp anh ấy có thể kết hôn với chị đó, nếu chị đó đã ly
dị và hoàn toàn tự do đồng ý theo đạo Công giáo. Đay được gọi là đực ân
thánh Phaolô, hay còn được gọi là đặc ân Đức tin.</span></p>

Còn nếu chị ấy chưa kết hôn dân sự, chưa được luật pháp hoặc xã hội công
nhận là vợ của một người nào, tức là chưa kết hôn với ai, mặc dầu chị có một
đứa con, bạn của anh có thể xin phép chuẩn để kết hôn với chị ấy cách hợp
pháp.</span></p>
