Việc giải quyết sinh lý qua việc thủ dâm như vậy là điều không
thể chấp nhận được. Còn việc cụ thể trong mỗi trường hợp theo
chủ quan là tội nặng hay nhẹ còn phải xét theo nhiều yếu tố
khác. Giáo Lý Công Giáo cũng đã dạy:<i> “Để đưa ra một phán quyết
quân bình về trách nhiệm luân lý của các đương sự, và để định
hướng cho hành vi mục vụ, người ta phải lưu tâm đến sự thiếu
trưởng thành về đời sống tình cảm, về sức mạnh của các tập quán
họ đã mắc phải, về tình trạng xao xuyến và các nhân tố tâm thần
hoặc nhân tố xã hội khác, vì tất cả các nhân tố này có thể giảm
bớt, thậm chí giảm xuống mức tối thiểu sự qui tội luân lý”</i> (GLCG
