<font size="4">WHĐ (15.01.2010) – Theo tin từ Tổng giáo phận Toronto –
Canada (đăng trên Bản tin điện tử của TGP Toronto archtoronto.org), lúc
15g ngày 13-01-2010 (tức 3g sáng 14-01 VN), tại nhà thờ St Michael của
TGP Toronto, đã diễn ra lễ tấn phong giám mục Đức cha Vinh Sơn Nguyễn
Mạnh Hiếu, do Đức Tổng giám mục Toronto Thomas Collins chủ phong, hai
giám mục phụ phong là Đức cha John Boissonneau và Đức cha Peter Hundt.</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 10pt; text-align: justify; font-family: Times New Roman;" class="MsoNormal">
<font size="4">Đức cha Vinh Sơn Nguyễn Mạnh Hiếu là giám mục đầu tiên
gốc châu Á của
<st1:country-region w:st="on">Canada</st1:country-region> và cũng là giám
mục trẻ nhất hiện nay, lãnh đạo Giáo Hội tại
<st1:place w:st="on">
<st1:country-region w:st="on">Canada</st1:country-region></st1:place>.
</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 10pt; text-align: justify; font-family: Times New Roman;" class="MsoNormal">
<font size="4">Tham dự lễ tấn phong có gần 1.000 khách mời, gồm thân
nhân, bạn bè, giáo dân, 30 giám mục và hơn 200 linh mục trong tổng giáo
phận.</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 10pt; text-align: justify; font-family: Times New Roman;" class="MsoNormal">
<font size="4">Như đã đưa tin, ngày 06 Tháng 11 2009, ĐTC Bênêđictô XVI
đã công bố bổ nhiệm Đức cha Vinh Sơn làm giám mục phụ tá TGP Toronto,
hiệu tòa Ammaedara. </font><span style><font size="4"> </font></span></p>
<p style="margin-top: 10pt; text-align: justify; font-family: Times New Roman;" class="MsoNormal">
<font size="4">Đức tân giám mục sinh năm 1966 tại Sài Gòn, Việt
<st1:country-region w:st="on">
<st1:place w:st="on">Nam</st1:place></st1:country-region>. Ngài là người
con thứ sáu trong gia đình có chín người con. Năm 1984 ngài định cư tại
<st1:place w:st="on">
<st1:city w:st="on">Toronto</st1:city></st1:place>. Năm 1998, ngài chịu
chức linh mục, thuộc Tổng giáo phận
<st1:city w:st="on">
<st1:place w:st="on">Toronto</st1:place></st1:city>. Sau đó, ngài đã
phục vụ trong một số giáo xứ
<st1:place w:st="on">
<st1:city w:st="on">Toronto</st1:city></st1:place> và đậu cử nhân Giáo
Luật tại Rôma (2008).</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 10pt; text-align: justify; font-family: Times New Roman;" class="MsoNormal">
<font size="4">Trong vai trò mới của mình, Đức tân giám mục sẽ phụ trách
các giáo xứ thuộc vùng các vùng Scarborough và Durham, đồng thời vẫn
tiếp tục công việc <span style lang="VI">Chưởng </span>ấ<span style lang="VI">n</span>
tại tòa TGM. </font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 10pt; text-align: justify; font-family: Times New Roman;" class="MsoNormal">
<font size="4">Lễ tấn phong Đức cha Vinh Sơn được cử hành vào ngày thứ
Tư 13-01. Ngày hôm trước, thứ ba 12-01, tại
<st1:place w:st="on">
<st1:city w:st="on">London</st1:city>,
<st1:state w:st="on">Ontario</st1:state></st1:place> đã diễn ra lễ tấn
phong của Đức tân giám mục phụ tá Toronto William McGrattan. Cả hai
thánh lễ đều được truyền hình trực tiếp trên mạng </font>

Salt+Light Television.</font></span></p>
<p style="margin-top: 10pt; text-align: justify; font-family: Times New Roman;" class="MsoNormal">
<font size="4">Tổng giáo phận
<st1:city w:st="on">Toronto</st1:city> là giáo phận lớn nhất của
<st1:place w:st="on">
<st1:country-region w:st="on">Canada</st1:country-region></st1:place>.
<st1:city w:st="on">Toronto</st1:city>
kéo dài từ bắc tới Georgian Bay và từ
<st1:city w:st="on">Oshawa</st1:city> đến
<st1:place w:st="on">
<st1:city w:st="on">Mississauga</st1:city></st1:place>. Vùng lãnh thổ
này của Canada là nơi sinh sống của 1.900.000 người Công giáo, hơn 800
linh mục giáo phận và linh mục dòng. TGP hiện có 224 giáo xứ. Các thánh
lễ trong TGP được cử hành với hơn 30 ngôn ngữ khác nhau.</font></p>
