<font face="Arial">Chúng ta tự nhận biết mình là “con người”, khác với những
loài khác. Chúng ta cũng biết rằng mình là một huyền nhiệm, một thực thể có
tính linh thiêng duy nhất trong trời đất. Tuy nhiên, ít bao giờ chúng ta tự
đặt câu hỏi: khi tôi nói mình là “con người”, tôi đang có ý gì vậy? Rõ ràng,
hai chữ “con người” vẫn còn để lại trong chúng ta nhiều uẩn khúc chưa có lời
giải đáp. Nhưng ít ra chúng ta nhận biết được một “con người” nhờ thân xác
của họ, cái hữu hình đang hiện diện trước mắt chúng ta. Quả vậy, chẳng có
con người nào lại không có thân xác. Cũng chẳng ai có thể hiện hữu bên ngoài
thân xác. Không thể có chuyện thân xác ở một nơi, nhưng “người đó” lại ở chỗ
khác. Con người hiện hữu trong chính thân xác của mình.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Do ảnh hưởng của nhiều phong trào triết học thời xưa,
nhiều người vẫn còn tin rằng thân xác là cái cầm tù con người. Họ mường
tượng ra hình ảnh linh hồn ở trên trời tìm kiếm một thân xác nào đó rồi
“nhập vào” hoặc bị “đày” vào, khiến cho nó cử động. Bởi thế, chính cái thân
xác hữu hình này đã kiềm kẹp, không cho linh hồn được giải thoát để đi về
miền tiêu diêu cực lạc, vui hưởng trạng thái hạnh phúc thiên thu. Vì thân
xác vốn giới hạn, nên nó cũng chịu sự chi phối của không gian và thời gian.
Nó sẽ trở nên tiều tuỵ, già yếu, mang lấy những tật bệnh. Nó mang vào trong
con người những phiền sầu khổ ải. Nó làm cho con người mệt mỏi bởi những
hành vi nó làm. Nó bắt con người phải chịu số phận hư nát của nó… Bởi quan
niệm như vậy, người ta hạ thấp thân xác, khinh thường nó, xem nó như là kẻ
thù. Họ hành xác, làm cho mình bị thương như một hình thức tu luyện. Có
nhiều người còn tự kết liễu cuộc đời mình để giải thoát cho linh hồn, giúp
linh hồn không còn chịu sự kiềm kẹp của thể xác…</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Rõ ràng, đây là một quan niệm hết sức sai lầm. “Thân xác”
không tách khỏi “con người”. Đúng ra mà nói, thân xác chính “là” con người.
Khi cánh tay tôi đau, là tôi đau. Khi cái chân tôi đau, là tôi đau. Chẳng có
một sự phân biệt nào giữa thân xác tôi với tôi cả. Con người tôi được phô
bày ra trong thế giới này qua thân xác mà Trời ban cho qua bố mẹ. Khi thân
xác này chết, chính là tôi chết. Giáo Hội vẫn dạy rằng con người có xác và
hồn. Nhưng không nên hiểu lời dạy này theo nghĩa đây là hai phần riêng biệt
và chẳng dính dáng gì với nhau như kiểu xác là chiếc bình, còn hồn là nước
nằm trong chiếc bình ấy. Con người là sự kết hợp tinh tuý giữa “cái mà ta
thấy” (tức là thân xác) với “cái mà ta không thấy” (linh hồn). Con người vừa
mang giá trị hữu hình vừa vô hình, vừa vật chất vừa tinh thần, vừa thể chất
vừa thiêng liêng. Như thế, ngay chính nơi thân xác con người đã mang một giá
trị cao quý đến nỗi nếu không có thân xác, con người chẳng còn là con người
nữa.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Chẳng cần gì ai dạy bảo, tự bản thân chúng ta đều nhận
thấy phải biết yêu lấy mình. Chẳng ai trong chúng ta nỡ làm mình đau. Phản
xạ tự nhiên của chúng ta là cố gắng mưu cầu sự thoải mái cho thân xác mình.
Ai cũng mong mình có một thân xác đẹp và hoàn hảo. Ai cũng thích được khen
là có cơ thể đẹp, khuôn mặt xinh xắn dễ thương. Tạo Hoá đã đặt để trong
chúng ta một bản năng sinh tồn, để khi đói, ta biết kiếm gì đó ăn, khi khát,
ta biết kiếm gì đó uống, khi bệnh tật, biết uống thuốc, giữ ấm… Chăm sóc tốt
cho bản thân là một thiên hướng căn cốt đã được khắc sâu vào trong mỗi
người. Kinh Thánh còn cho chúng ta biết giá trị cao quý của thân xác khi nói
rằng thân xác chúng ta là đền thờ của Thiên Chúa. Người ta sẽ nhìn thấy hình
ảnh Thiên Chúa qua thân xác con người. Thân xác con người là báu vật của Tạo
Hoá. Chính Thiên Chúa đã khẳng định lại giá trị của thân xác con người khi
mặc lấy nó để trở thành một con người thật sự: biết no đủ, biết đói khát,
biết khoẻ, biết mệt, biết đau và có thể chết. Thân xác của con người là
chính con người ấy. Đó là lý do vì sao chúng ta luôn tôn trọng thân xác của
người đã qua đời. Tự nơi đó, ta thấy toát lên một nét linh thiêng khiến
chúng ta phải tôn trọng và, phần nào đó, phải khiếp sợ.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Chính nơi thân xác mà ta được trải nghiệm tất cả mọi
chuyện nhân tình thế thái ở thế giới hữu hình này. Đặc biệt, nhờ có thân
xác, ta thấy mình có tương quan với người khác. Thân xác của con người không
chỉ là cấu thành của những yếu tố sinh học, nhưng còn là nơi để con người
phô bày ra những gì bên trong. Chúng ta không thể có tương quan với “một cái
gì đó” trừu tượng, mông lung. Và trong bất kỳ một tương quan nào, chúng ta
cũng cần những cái đụng chạm, gặp gỡ, nghe tiếng… Những giác quan trên thân
xác này là những kênh truyền để con người mình – vốn là một huyền nhiệm –
bắt nhịp với những con người khác – cũng là huyền nhiệm. Khi tương quan trở
nên gần gũi và khăng khít hơn thì nó cũng đòi hỏi một sự gần gũi về mặt thân
xác. Ban đầu là những cái bắt tay, sau đó là những cái ôm, hôn… và đỉnh cao
để thể hiện một tương quan sâu sắc nhất – tình yêu nam nữ – là sự dâng hiến
cả thân xác cho nhau. Khi yêu, dĩ nhiên là người ta dành cho nhau tất cả, và
không chỉ yêu “trên tinh thần”, yêu bằng linh hồn. Một cách tự nhiên, khi
yêu ai thật lòng, ta không ngại ngùng trao dâng cho họ thân xác.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Chúng ta thể hiện tình yêu của mình cho người khác qua
những cử chỉ của thân xác. Những cái vuốt ve chính là cái thể hiện việc mình
đang hưởng nếm nét đẹp của thân xác của người đó. Những cái ôm là dấu chỉ
của việc mở ra, đón người đó vào lòng và giữ chặt họ gần trái tim mình.
Những cái hôn là để trao gửi trọn vẹn yêu thương chất chứa trong tim. Và khi
quan hệ tình dục, người ta thể hiện ước muốn thuộc trọn về nhau. Bởi thế,
tính dục của con người khác với những loài động vật khác. Trong khi những
loài kia chỉ nhắm đến việc thoả mãn hay sinh sản, thì con người còn gửi gắm
vào đó một yếu tố tuyệt vời khác: tình yêu. Con người không thể quan hệ tình
dục bừa bãi, vì việc quan hệ tình dục hàm chứa một ý nghĩa rất sâu xa, thậm
chí là rất linh thánh.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Làm hại thân xác, xúc phạm thân xác, làm nhục thân xác
mình chính là làm điều có lỗi với Tạo Hoá. Thân xác con người được dựng nên
là để chuyển tải tình yêu và chỉ được dùng để hướng đến tình yêu. Phải biết
trân quý thân xác mình, nhận thức rằng thân xác ấy là nơi Thiên Chúa ngự
trị, và được thánh hoá bằng ân sủng của Thánh Thần, thì con người mới có thể
sống giới tính của mình một cách trưởng thành và đúng đắn.</font></p>
