<font face="Arial">Ngày nay, người nữ đã chiếm được một vị thế xứng đáng cho
mình, nhưng ít ai biết rằng, để có được sự thừa nhận ấy của xã hội, họ đã
phải trải qua rất nhiều thăng trầm, với biết bao mồ hôi, nước mắt và có khi
là giá máu nữa. Được mệnh danh là phái yếu, phụ nữ là hiện thân của cái đẹp.
Họ mảnh mai, yếu mềm và thường hành xử rất cảm tính. Đây là những đặc điểm
làm nên vẻ đẹp của họ, nhưng cũng vì nó mà người nữ thường gặp nhiều thua
thiệt trong cuộc sống. Đọc lại dòng lịch sử, đặc biệt từ thời phong kiến, ta
thấy người nữ thường phải giữ nhiều kỷ cương luật lệ, các chuẩn mực đạo đức.
Người ta thường không để người nữ đảm đương những việc lớn vì sợ sự cảm tính
của họ đã làm hỏng chuyện. Có những xã hội và văn hoá còn xếp người nữ ở cấp
độ rất thấp, thậm chí không đáng là “con người”. Trong khi đàn ông từ xưa
đến nay vẫn luôn được coi trọng, số phận của người nữ phải trải qua nhiều
sóng gió truân chuyên.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Thật ra, từ những vết tích do các nhà khảo cổ học tìm
thấy, được cho là có niên đại khoảng 50.000 TCN, người ta nghĩ đến một giai
đoạn nữ quyền. Người phụ nữ được xem là nguồn cội của sự sống, vì chính họ
đã sinh ra những con người mới. Tất cả những gì gắn liền với sự phong nhiêu
được gán cho người phụ nữ. Ngôn ngữ tiếng Việt cũng gán cho giống cái một ý
nghĩa lớn lao liên quan đến sự sinh sản: sông cái, ngón cái, đũa cái… Tất cả
những gì vĩ đại, cũng được dành cho người phụ nữ, vì người ta cho rằng nếu
không có người nữ thì cũng không có sự sống. Có lẽ từ đây mới nảy sinh tục
thờ Nữ Thần. Ta cũng hay gọi trái đất là Mẹ Đất (chứ không phải cha), vì
trái đất (mặt đất) đã sinh ra những giống loài thảo mộc, những mầm sống tươi
tốt. Như thế, vào thời kỳ đồ đá cũ, xã hội được đặc trưng bởi chế độ mẫu hệ,
trong đó, vai trò của người phụ nữ được đề cao.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Sang đến thời đồ đá mới (khoảng năm 9750 TCN), con người
bắt đầu canh tác đất đai và săn bắt thú để kiếm sống. Lúc này, người ta lại
quan tâm nhiều hơn đến người đàn ông vì họ có sức khoẻ thể lý để lao động.
Hơn nữa, con người dần dần phát hiện ra rằng chỉ khi nào có con đực thì con
cái mới có thể sinh con. Con đực lại có khả năng giao phối với tất cả các
con cái khác, chứ không nhất thiết lệ thuộc vào một con cái nào. Trong khi
một con cái phải cần thời gian để sinh sản thì con đực lại có thể giao phối
với con cái khác. Người ta bắt đầu đánh giá cao đàn ông vì cho rằng họ không
những có khả năng góp phần vào việc sinh sản mà còn có tiềm năng đóng góp
cho việc sinh sản ấy cao hơn người phụ nữ. Từ đó, dù không chối bỏ khả năng
trực tiếp “tạo ra” sự sống của người nữ, nhưng người nam lại giành được vị
thế quan trọng hơn. Người nữ chỉ đảm nhận một vài bổn phận là ở nhà sinh
con, chăm sóc con cái, làm việc nhà, hái lượm… Những việc trọng đại khác như
săn bắt, chiến đấu, lãnh đạo được giao cho đàn ông.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Từ đây, số phận của người phụ nữ bắt đầu gặp sóng gió. Do
chân yếu tay mềm, hành xử cảm tính, người phụ nữ bị xem như là một món hàng.
Họ bị mua bán, làm trò tiêu khiển, cũng như thể thoả mãn nhục dục cho những
đàn ông giàu có. Trong những nền văn hoá đa thê, họ phải chung chia chồng
mình với những người đàn bà khác. Nhiều phụ nữ bị bán vào hoàng cung, làm
phi tần, phục vụ vua, tuy có chút danh phận nhưng cả đời chẳng bao giờ được
chồng đoái hoài đến. Ở nơi khác, chuyện cưới xin của họ cũng do người lớn
sắp đặt, cưới một người phụ nữ cũng giống như mua một nô lệ, phải trả một
món tiền. Ở Hy Lạp, người đàn bà hoàn toàn không có quyền hành gì trên chính
bản thân mình. Họ lệ thuộc vào gia đình hoặc vào chồng. Họ không được ăn học
và phải sống ở những nơi thấp hèn dành riêng cho mình. Với sự ảnh hưởng của
nền triết học quá coi trọng lý trí, người phụ nữ, do thường hành xử theo cảm
tính, bị cho là không có lý trí và vì thế, không phải là con người đúng
nghĩa… Với cách hành xử như thế, ta thấy ngay một thái độ trọng nam khinh
nữ. Sinh một đứa con trai là có được phú quý. Sinh một người còn gái là mang
một của nợ vào thân.</font></p>

<font face="Arial">Liên quan đến vấn đề tính dục, thời trước, người ta cho
rằng sự sống hệ ở người đàn ông, người đàn bà chỉ “lưu giữ” sự sống trong cơ
thể mình, rồi đến lúc thuận tiện thì sinh con ra mà thôi. Nhưng vào khoảng
thế kỷ 17 trở đi, khi các ngành khoa học phát triển, đặc biệt là sinh học,
người ta mới biết rằng để có thể thụ tinh tạo nên một mầm sống mới, phải có
sự kết hợp giữa tinh trùng của người nam và trứng của người nữ. Phát hiện
này cho thấy người nữ không hề giữ vai trò thụ động trong việc sinh sản. Cơ
thể người nữ không phải là “lò ấp em bé” do đàn ông đưa vào, nhưng thật sự
là một yếu tố đóng góp vào sự hình thành và phát triển của một mầm sống. Từ
những năm 1900, vai trò của người nữ, nhờ những phát kiến khoa học giúp đỡ,
đã được cải thiện khá nhiều. Họ bắt đầu đấu tranh để có được sự bình đẳng
giới, để khẳng định vị trí và vai trò của mình trong xã hội, để giành cho
mình quyền và nghĩa vụ của một con người. Cho đến nay, người nữ đã bắt đầu
giữ những vị trí cốt yếu trong bộ máy lãnh đạo. Họ không còn bị coi thường
và cũng không còn sự phân biệt đối xử nào với họ.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Khác với những định kiến mà xã hội dành cho phụ nữ, Giáo
Hội Công Giáo, ngay từ buổi sơ khai, đã luôn dành cho phụ nữ một chỗ đứng
quan trọng. Trong Giáo Hội, không có sự phân biệt giữa người nam và người nữ
về phẩm giá, chỉ có sự khác biệt liên quan đến chức năng. Dưới ánh sáng của
Tin Mừng, tất cả mọi người, không phân biệt giới tính, đều là con cái Thiên
Chúa. Chính Con Thiên Chúa đã chấp nhận làm người, được sinh hạ bởi một
người phụ nữ và đã nâng người phụ nữ ấy lên làm mẫu mực cho tất cả những ai
có lòng tin. Ơn cứu độ mà Đức Giêsu mang đến được tặng ban cho tất cả mọi
người, không loại trừ một ai. Trong Giáo Hội cũng đã có rất nhiều các vị
thánh nữ được tuyên phong, nêu gương sáng đời sống đức tin cho mọi người.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Liên quan đến đời sống hôn nhân và gia đình, ta đã thấy
sự ưu ái của Thiên Chúa dành cho người nữ trong trình thuật sách Sáng Thế.
Hình ảnh “được dựng nên từ xương sườn của Adam” muốn nói đến vị trí quan
trọng và không thể thiếu của người nữ đối với người đàn ông. Chỉ khi có
người đàn bà xuất hiện, công trình tạo dựng của Thiên Chúa mới đi đến chỗ
hoàn tất. Người nam và người nữ nhận lãnh sứ mạng “kết hợp với nhau” để sinh
sôi nảy nở cho đầy mặt đất và thống trị mọi loài. Không có chuyện người này
thống trị người kia, cũng không có ai dưới quyền của ai. Tất cả đều bình
đẳng, bổ trợ cho nhau, giúp nhau hoàn thành sứ mạng của mình. Người nam và
người nữ có những nét khác biệt, nhưng không đối nghịch nhau. Họ được dựng
nên là để cho nhau, kiện toàn cho nhau.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial">Bởi thế, là người Công Giáo, chúng ta cần phải có một cái
nhìn đúng đắn liên quan đến người nữ. Cần phải dành cho người nữ một vị trí
xứng hợp để họ có thể đóng góp khả năng và trí lực của mình. Hơn hết, cần
phải nhìn về họ với một phẩm giá cao quý như Thiên Chúa đã đặt định khi tạo
dựng nên họ.</font></p>
