quan phòng của Thiên Chúa, Hội dòng Mến Thánh Giá Thủ Thiêm chúng
con được khai sinh và lớn lên trên mảnh đất Thủ Thiêm này đã gần 2
thế kỷ. Một trang dài lịch sử tràn ngập Tình Chúa, thấm đượm tình
người. Đây cũng là lúc chúng con cần phải dừng lại lâu hơn, để suy,
để cảm, và để sống tâm tình tri ân đối với Tình yêu Thiên Chúa và
công ơn của các vị tiền bối, của quý ân nhân. Trong dịp này, con xin
trình bày đôi nét về Hội dòng Mến Thánh Giá Thủ Thiêm.</span></font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="3"><span lang="FR">Đức Cha Phêrô Lambert de
la Motte lập Dòng Mến Thánh Giá tại Đàng Ngoài năm 1670 và Đàng
Trong 1671. Theo thời gian Dòng Mến Thánh Giá phát triển và lan rộng
ra khắp nơi.</span></font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0">
<font face="Arial" size="3"><b><span lang="FR">2. Lịch sử hình thành</span></b></font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="3"><span lang="FR">Trong những năm
1835-1838, vua Minh Mạng ra một loạt các sắc chỉ cấm đạo, khiến cho
người công giáo nhà tan cửa nát, khốn đốn, loạn lạc. Rất nhiều tu
viện Mến Thánh Giá bị phá hủy hoàn toàn, các nữ tu phải phân tán
khắp nơi. </span></font></p>
<p class="MsoBodyTextIndent" style="margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify">
<span lang="FR"><font face="Arial" size="3">Một số</font></span><span lang="VI"><font face="Arial" size="3">
nữ tu trốn cơn bách hại, </font></span><span lang="FR">
<font face="Arial" size="3">chạy</font></span><span lang="VI"><font face="Arial" size="3">
về Bến Thành </font></span><span lang="FR">
<font face="Arial" size="3">trú ấn. Trong số đó có các chị </font>
</span><span lang="VI"><font face="Arial" size="3">đến từ Lái Thiêu,
có hai chị đến từ Nha Trang. Các chị trú ẩn nơi đây một thời gian,
nhận thấy hoàn cảnh không thể trở về tu viện cũ được nên đã nghĩ đến
việc lập cộng đoàn mới, tiếp tục sống ơn gọi Mến Thánh Giá. </font>

Thành là nơi phố thị đông người ồn ào, qua Thủ Thiêm thôn quê hẻo
lánh và yên tĩnh để lập tu viện. </font></span><span lang="VI">

vắng, ven sông rải rác vài ba mái nhà lụp xụp</font></span><span lang="ES"><font face="Arial" size="3">,…

lập Tu viện tại Thủ Thiêm. Năm 1840, đời vua Minh Mạng, </font>

Tại hải ngoại có : 2 cộng đoàn ở Mỹ, 1 cộng đoàn ở Áo và 1 cộng đoàn

Dòng Mến Thánh Giá, chị em thực hiện sứ vụ tông đồ thừa sai và phục
vụ Giáo hội địa phương trong các lãnh vực : Đức tin, giáo dục, y tế,
luân lý và xã hội với những công việc cụ thể như : dạy Giáo lý,
hướng dẫn các hội đoàn, phụ trách ca đoàn, phục vụ phòng thánh, dạy
học, phục vụ bệnh nhân, đến với lương dân, phục vụ anh chị em dân
tộc thiểu số,…. Làm công tác xã hội dưới hình thức : lớp học tình
thương ; quỹ tín dụng; trợ giúp học bổng ; thăm viếng, phát gạo và
quà cho người nghèo, già yếu, neo đơn ; lập nhà trọ di dân ; giúp
cai nghiện ma túy... </font></span></p>
