Năm 17 tháng 11 năm 2011 đã thông qua việc bán nhà thờ rất thời danh
của một giáo phái Tin Lành, đó là Nhà thờ pha-lê (Crystal
Cathedral), mà người Việt thường gọi là Nhà Thờ Kiếng cho Giáo phận
Công giáo Orange để giúp chi trả các khoản tài chánh mà đại giáo
đường Crytal Cathedral đang gặp khó khăn đến khi phải phá sản.</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="3">Quyết định của Thẩm phán Tòa án Phá sản
Hoa Kỳ Robert Kwan đưa ra sau khi một cuộc chiến đấu thầu giữa Giáo
phận Orange và Ðại học Chapman đều muốn mua khu nhà thờ này với tài
sản 40 mẫu cùng kiến thiết kiếng màu rực rỡ. Ðang khi đó giáo dân
Tin lành thuộc Hiệp hội Crystal Cathedral lo sợ đây là bước kết thúc
của nhà thờ của họ.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 15.0pt; line-height: normal; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify">
<font face="Arial" size="3">Giáo phận trả 57.5 triệu Mỹ kim để mua
Nhà thờ này làm bằng 10,000 tấm kính, dùng làm nhà thờ chính tòa cho
giáo phận mà từ lâu đã mong ước có ngôi nhà thờ chính tòa giáo phận
khang trang. Từ khi xây dựng xong tới nay, Crystal Cathedral mang
tính biểu tượng của thành phố Garden Grove.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 15.0pt; line-height: normal; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify">
<font face="Arial" size="3">Sau khi nghe tại tòa án phá sản liên
bang quyết định bán nhà thờ cho giáo phận, Ðức Giám Mục Tod D. Brown
của giáo phận Orange nói với các phóng viên rằng: "ngôi thánh đường
này sẽ trở thành một trung tâm thực sự cho cộng đồng Công Giáo tại
Orange County".</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 15.0pt; line-height: normal; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify">
<font face="Arial" size="3">Quyết định này sẽ cũng kèm theo điều
kiện là Hiệp hội Crystal Cathedral sẽ được mướn lại khu này, nhưng
sau 3 năm phải tìm nhà thờ mới cho việc thờ phượng của mình. Giáo
phận Orange cũng đồng ý nếu muốn có thể nhường lại nhà thờ Công Giáo
gần đó. Và có nguồn tin cho biết đó là nhà thờ St. Calistus (chỉ
cách nhà thờ Kiếng khoảng chừng gần 1 cây số, và người Việt Nam
thường gọi là nhà thờ Tam Biên). Hiện nay nhà thờ Tam Biên có rất
nhiều giáo dân Việt nam, và cha chính xứ là Linh Mục Nguyễn văn
Tuyên.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 15.0pt; line-height: normal; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify">
<font face="Arial" size="3">Giả như sau này Giáo hội Tin Lành
Crystal Cathedral đồng ý mua nhà thờ St Calistus của Công giáo thì
chắc chắn lúc bấy giờ giáo dân nhà thờ St. Calistus sẽ được đi
chuyển đến nhà thờ mới là nhà thờ kính Crystal Cathedral và cũng là
Nhà thờ Chính tòa Công giáo trong tương lai. Người giáo dân gốc Việt
Nam lại có chỗ sinh hoạt thật rộng rãi và lộng lẫy...</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 15.0pt; line-height: normal; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify">
<font face="Arial" size="3">Trong vài hai tuần qua trước khi có cuộc
xét xử xem Tòa án phá sản sẽ bán cho ai, Ban Giám đốc của Crystal
Cathedral và đa số giáo dân Tin lành của nhà thờ này thực tế đã
quyết định hỗ trợ bán nhà thờ cho Ðại học Chapman để khuyếch trương
phân khoa sức khoẻ và có thể bắt đầu mở đại học y khoa.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 15.0pt; line-height: normal; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 12px; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify">
<font face="Arial" size="3">Nhưng rồi hôm thứ Tư 16 tháng 11 năm
2011, trước ngày ra tòa xử, Hội đồng quản trị đã thay đổi ý kiến và
bỏ phiếu muốn bán cho Giáo phận Orange để bảo vệ nhà thờ như là một
tổ chức tôn giáo, với lý do là nội quy nhà thờ và ý muốn tôn trọng
tinh thần của các nhà tài trợ khi dâng cúng tiền xây lên nhà thờ này
là cốt ý thành nơi thờ phượng.</font></p>

"Tôi thực sự hài lòng khi biết rằng khu vực nhà thờ này có khả năng

Nhà thờ Crystal theo dõi cuộc điều trần trong suốt 6 giờ đồng hồ, và
khi nghe phán quyết nhà thờ phải bán đi, họ nói với chánh án Tòa phá
sản là xin duy trì lại nhà thờ yêu qúy này lại cho họ. Có vài người
đã không cầm được nước mắt vì đấy chính là nơi họ đã bỏ tâm huyết và
cả cuộc đời thờ phượng ơ nơi đây.</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="3">Mục sư Schuller bắt đầu mục vụ Crystal
Cathedral 50 năm trước đây, lúc đó ông giảng đạo và nhóm họp phụng
tự tại một sân chiếu cinê ngoài trời, dùng cho người lái xe đến dự
nghi lễ trong khu đất trống trong sân vào những năm 1950 dưới sự bảo
trợ của Giáo Hội Cải cách ở Mỹ. Nhiều thập kỷ sau đó, Giáo hội này
phát triển thành một đế chế phụng thờ qua truyền hình quốc tế và xây
dựng tiếng tăm của mình khắp nơi nhờ vào tài hùng biện của mục sư
Schuller với mục truyền hình phụng vụ nổi tiếng "Hour of Power" của
mình.</font></p>

<font face="Arial" size="3">Cuối tuần nhà thờ này luôn lôi kéo những
tài tử và các nhân vật thời danh đến tham dự cầu kinh và nghe giảng
thuyết và thánh ca. Trong các dịp đặc biệt như Lễ Giáng Sinh còn có
diễn Ðại nhạc hội "Glory of Christmas" với hàng trăm các nghệ sĩ
danh tiếng và hoạt cảnh huy hoàng. Cũng nên biết trước đây với "Hour
of Power" (Giờ Quyền Lực) là nguồn sinh lợi đến 70% của Giáo hội
doanh thu.</font></p>

Nhà thờ giảm mạnh trong bối cảnh sự suy giảm tài trợ và việc bán vé
cho các Show diễn không còn ăn khách nữa do suy thoái kinh tế, như
các quan chức nhà thờ cho biết. Tuy nhiên, một số chuyên gia cho
rằng nhà thờ không để thu hút các thành viên trẻ, trong khi đó số
người có tuổi trước đây vẫn lui tới nhà thờ nay cũng chán nản vì từ
khi Mục sư Robert Schuller trao lại nhà thờ cho con trai của mình
đứng đầu, là bắt đầu cuộc xung đột cạnh tranh trong gia đình của mục
sư Schuller với nhiều cay đắng và những tố cáo công khai việc tiền
bạc tham nhũng và xa hoa.</font></p>

gần đây Nhà thờ Crystal Cathedral phải sa thải nhân viên và cắt giảm
tiền lương, nhưng các khoản nợ đã vượt qua 43 triệu USD, khiến tổ
chức Crystal Cathedral phải tuyên bố phá sản vào năm 2010.<br>

Bộ cho đến ba năm trước khi được cải tạo để sử dụng như một nhà thờ
Công giáo La Mã. Tháng tám năm 2012, giáo phận thông báo rằng "Nhà
thờ Chúa Kito" là tên mới dự định cho nhà thờ</font></p>

phái Luti sử dụng thuật ngữ): Nhà thờ Tin lành ở Mỹ được cai quản

làm bằng tay là một trong những thứ lớn nhất thế giới. Công ty
Fratelli Ruffatti chịu trách nhiệm xây dựng dựa trên bản thiết kế kỹ
thuật của Virgil Fox và được Frederick Swann khai triển. Nhạc khí
kết hợp chiếc đàn ống lớn Aeolian - Skinner được dựng lên từ năm
1962 cho Hội trường Avery Fisher của New York và chiếc Ruffatti cũng
đã được lắp đặt tại điện thờ trước của nhà thờ. Swann từng là người
chơi đàn ống tại Crystal Cathedral từ năm 1982 đến 1998.</font></p>
