LiveScience, loài ốc trên được tìm thấy bởi trong một chuyến thám hiểm ở
độ sâu 914 m dưới lòng đất, trong hệ thống hang động Jama-Trojama Lukina
của Croatia, một trong 20 hệ thống hang động sâu nhất trên thế giới.
Loài ốc này được đặt tên khoa học là <em>Zospeum tholussum.</em></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial,sans-serif">Ông Alexander Weigand,
một nhà phân loại học từ đại học Frankfurt, Đức, cho biết đây là một
loài ốc đặc biệt chưa bao giờ được tìm thấy. Tuy nhiên, nó vẫn có nhiều
điểm liên quan đến những loài ốc đã được biết.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial,sans-serif">Loài ốc này có những đặc
điểm sinh học thích hợp để sinh sống trong môi trường có ít ánh sáng.
Trên mặt đất, vỏ ốc có tác dụng ngụy trang, thu hút bạn tình hoặc hấp
thụ ánh sáng mặt trời.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial,sans-serif">Ông Alexander Weigand cho
biết thêm loài ốc này đặc biệt di chuyển chậm. Chúng chỉ di chuyển theo
hình tròn với khoảng cách vài milimet hoặc vài centimet một tuần.</span></span></td>
