Bernardino Realino sinh trong một gia đình quyền quý ở Capri, nước Ý.
Sau khi được người mẹ chăm sóc, dạy bảo kỹ lưỡng về đạo giáo, lớn lên
ngài theo học y khoa và học luật ở Ðại Học Bologna. Ngài lấy bằng tiến
sĩ luật và làm thị trưởng Felizzano khi mới 26 tuổi.

là chánh án của thành phố. Sau hai nhiệm kỳ, ngài được bổ nhiệm chức vụ
trưởng ty quan thuế ở Alesandria, và sau đó làm thị trưởng của Cassine,
và Castelleone.</span></p>

nhập dòng này khi 34 tuổi. Ba năm sau, ngài được chỉ định làm Giám Ðốc
Ðệ Tử Viện ở Naples.</span></p>

tiếng vì công cuộc tông đồ không ngừng nghỉ. Ngài là một cha giải tội
gương mẫu, một vị thuyết giảng lôi cuốn, một thầy giáo cần cù của Ðức
Tin cho người trẻ, một chủ chiên tận tụy cho các linh hồn, cũng như là
Giám Ðốc trường Dòng Tên ở Lecce và là cha sở ở đây. Lòng bác ái của
ngài dành cho người nghèo và người đau yếu dường như vô bờ bến, và sự
nhân hậu của ngài đã giúp chấm dứt các mối thù truyền kiếp của nhiều
người trong thành phố.</span></p>

quý của người dân Lecce đối với ngài quá lớn lao đến độ vào năm 1616,
khi ngài đang hấp hối trên giường thì vị đại diện thành phố đã chính
thức xin ngài bảo vệ cho người dân sau khi ngài từ trần. Không thể nói
nên lời, Thánh Bernardino chỉ gật đầu chấp thuận. Ngài từ trần với lời
cầu khẩn danh thánh Ðức Giêsu và Ðức Maria.</span></p>
