sinh năm 1666 và là con út trong gia đình mười hai người con.
Gia đình ngài có một cơ sở thương mại nhỏ. Khi người mẹ goá bụa
từ trần, bà đã để lại cơ sở cho Joan trông coi. Ngài không phải
là một cô gái có tâm địa xấu xa, nhưng Joan chỉ nghĩ đến cách
làm tiền. </span></font></div>

vì thích làm tiền, ngài đã phạm nhiều lỗi lầm. Trước đây, ngài
là một người ngoan đạo nhưng bây giờ tâm hồn ngài không có chút
bác ái. Mẹ ngài thường rộng lượng với người ăn xin. Nhưng Joan,
thường chỉ mua thực phẩm khi đến giờ ăn. Vì như vậy, ngài mới có
thể nói với những người đến ăn xin rằng: “Tôi không có gì để cho
cả.”</span></font></div>

đó, Joan không có hạnh phúc. Sau cùng, khi ngài hai mươi bảy
tuổi, một linh mục thánh thiện đã giúp ngài khởi đầu cuộc sống
đức tin một cách chân thành và hăng say. Dần dà, ngài thấy rằng
cơ sở thương mại của ngài là để cho đi, chứ không phải để tích
trữ. Joan bắt đầu chăm sóc các gia đình nghèo cũng như các trẻ
mồ côi. </span><span data-offset-key="9mmqo-0-0">

ngài phải đóng cửa tiệm để có thời giờ chăm sóc họ. Dân chúng
gọi căn nhà đầy trẻ mồ côi của ngài là, “Nhà Ðấng Quan Phòng.”
Sau này, ngài thuyết phục các phụ nữ khác đến giúp đỡ. Cuối
cùng, họ trở thành các Nữ Tu của Thánh Anna của Ðấng Quan Phòng
ở Saumur, nước Pháp.</span></font></div>

một cuộc đời rất hy sinh. Ngài thi hành nhiều việc đền tội nặng
nhọc. Thánh Grignon de Montfort đến gặp sơ Joan. Lúc đầu thánh
nhân nghĩ rằng sự kiêu ngạo đã khiến sơ Joan quá khó khăn với
chính mình. Nhưng sau đó, thánh nhân nhận ra rằng tâm hồn sơ
Joan thực sự ngập tràn tình yêu Thiên Chúa. Thánh nhân nói: “Hãy
tiếp tục con đường mà con đã khởi sự. Thần Khí Chúa luôn ở với
con. Hãy nghe theo tiếng Người và đừng sợ.”</span></font></div>

trần ngày 17 tháng Tám 1736 lúc bảy mươi tuổi. Dân chúng ở
Saumur nói rằng, “Bà chủ tiệm buôn nhỏ bé đó đã giúp đỡ người
nghèo ở Saumur còn nhiều hơn tất cả các hội viên thành phố gọp
lại. Thật là một phụ nữ phi thường! Thật là một người thánh
thiện!”</span></font></div>

Sơ Joan được Ðức Giáo Hoàng Piô XII tuyên phong chân phước, cùng
