TÔI CHỈ MONG ƯỚC CHỨC QUYỀN TRÊN TRỜI</font></td></tr><tr><td width="474" colspan="2"><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 19.85pt; text-autospace: none; margin-bottom: 2.85pt"><font size="3">Năm 1838, trong một phiên tòa thời kỳ bách hại đạo Công giáo, quan tỉnh Quảng Trị thấy thánh Tôma Trần Văn Thiện trẻ tuổi, dáng dấp thư sinh nho nhã, khuôn mặt khôi ngô tuấn tú, hứa hẹn một tương lai tươi sáng, nên nhẹ nhàng khuyên bảo:</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 19.85pt; text-autospace: none; margin-bottom: 2.85pt"><font size="3">- Nếu con bỏ đạo, ta sẽ gả con gái cho và sẽ lo liệu cho con làm quan.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 19.85pt; text-autospace: none; margin-bottom: 2.85pt"><font size="3">Đó là điều biết bao nhiêu người mong ước mà không được. Nhưng đối với chủng sinh Tôma Thiện thì lại khác, thầy thẳng thắn trả lời:</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 19.85pt; text-autospace: none; margin-bottom: 2.85pt"><font size="3">- Tôi chỉ mong chức quyền trên trời, chứ không màng danh vọng trần thế.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 19.85pt; text-autospace: none; margin-bottom: 5.95pt"><font size="3">Tuy mới 18 tuổi, nhưng Tôma Thiện đã có một sự chọn lựa chín chắn, khôn ngoan.
